High up side. He actually did well with us. If Pete Walker can work his magic and do what he did with Estrada then at the least he will be a great bullpen piece. I hope Taijuan Walker is next. Stroman or Bauer?! Paxton? Ordozzi? Morton?

I really want them to make a trade for Lindor. He and Bo up the middle would be amazing. I would sell high on Teoscar and Grichuk. Would be hard to give up a Lourdes or Biggio. Even harder to give up Groshans, SRW aka Black Thor. I don't really think the Clevinger trade or Betts/Price trade are great examples of the type of haul Clev should expect. Maybe the Betts/Price trade in the sense that they won't be getting anyones TOP prospect but maybe a Verdugo type player would make sense. It seems Clev is looking for an outfielder who is MLB ready or already in the MLB.

It's great that she (and women) are finally getting their shot.

It's also horrible that it's taken over 100 years of baseball and she has to be so clearly overqualified to get a job.

For those who aren't knowledgable about her history and want to read a bit about her, read this The Athletic story: (https://theathletic.com/2196689/2020/11/13/kim-ng-first-woman-gm-marlins-dodgers/)

They’ve passed on everyone. I’m fine with it, and we could use a few losing seasons to get the bandwagonners to hop off again, but all throughout 2020 they tried to assure us that this was just a hiccup and we’d be back to competing in 2021 lol.

Not there's a "type" for a sexual harasser but this guy's bro-y face makes it seem like he's done something like this before.

Jessica Mendoza mentions a similar experience with a player.

https://es.pn/2NjUCdv via @ESPN App http://espn.com/app

The player mistook Jessica's professional curiosity as romantic interest. Thankfully for Jessica, the scenario didn't end as horrifically as the reporter in the GM's case.

But she said the caution she had to take on has gotten in the way of her building rapport with players to gain insight into their games and habits.

Hopefully, this yahoo doesn't work in baseball again or, if so, not for a very long time.

A long time coming, but I ain't mad at him for cashing those checks while he still could. Gonna miss him, but I wouldn't be surprised if he immediately becomes a coach in the Sox system.

Sidenote: He was the last player from the 2007 World Series team. If JBJ doesn't return then only Xander is left from the 2013 team (unless I'm missing something).

and I'll never cry for ownership, when a guy keeps gettin them checks. I'm a big sucker for reading anecdotes on athletes. I once read where an MLB scout said he came to watch Dustin in college and he wrote down that he'd never seen a college hitter who was seemingly able to barrel up the ball, every time. I also always thought is was sorta funny that Ian Kinsler went to ASU to play SS, but end up transferring to Mizzou, because he couldn't beat Dustin for the job.

Losing Hendricks sucks, but closers are the most replaceable component. Not happy about La Stella, since he played well.

But what really pisses me off is losing Semien. He's a local guy: born in Berkeley, went to Cal, and a hometown favorite. And he really developed with the organization. He went from the worst fielding SS in the league to one of the best. And then he's gone and ownership didn't even attempt to keep him. For a one year, $18 million contract. Which this team could very much afford.

I really hope someone buys the damn team.

I was a bit surprised he couldn't get any more (years) than that. I mean, I get he's 30, but still.

38. "Chris Archer, Rays to reunite with 1-year deal, sources say (swipe)"
In response to Reply # 0

Not really a fan of this move at all. He pitched well for us the 1st time around but I never really took to this dude. The trade for Meadows & Glasnow was a steal for us, so I didn't miss him.

Now after trading away Snell and losing Morton, this is what we get to make up for it?

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30823141/chris-archer-tampa-bay-rays-reunite-1-year-deal-sources-say

Right-hander Chris Archer and the Tampa Bay Rays are in agreement on a one-year, $6.5 million deal, pending a physical, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan on Tuesday.

With the move, Archer is returning to the organization with which he debuted in 2012 and found his greatest success.

Archer, 32, had been a disappointment since being traded from the Rays, with whom he was a two-time All-Star selection, to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Tyler Glasnow, Austin Meadows and Shane Baz in 2018. Archer, who signed a six-year, $25.5 million deal in 2014, went 6-12 with a 4.92 ERA in 33 starts for the Pirates, including a 3-9 mark with a 5.19 ERA in 2019.

Biggest winners, losers and moves we'd still make this MLB offseason
Glasnow and Meadows, meanwhile, helped the Rays reach the World Series this past season for the first time since 2008.

Archer did not pitch for the Pirates in 2020, undergoing season-ending surgery on June 2 to relieve symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome after experiencing discomfort in the neck/shoulder area on his right side.

The Pirates declined an $11 million option for the 2021 season, instead giving Archer a buyout of $250,000. His prorated pay for the pandemic-shortened season was reduced to $3.33 million.

Archer is 60-80 with a 3.86 ERA in 210 career starts and two relief appearances. His average fastball velocity dropped from 95.75 mph in 2017 to 93.30 mph in 2019.

Cards offered him 12mil for one season, but I guess 9mil for two years is better than 12mil, then who knows what. Tommy Edman...it's all yours, kid.

The five women, all of whom spoke to The Athletic anonymously and work in sports media, accused Callaway of inappropriate behavior that included sending shirtless photos, requesting nude pictures and, in one instance, thrusting his crotch in a reporter's face while she attempted an interview. The behavior spanned five years and his employment with three organizations, including his stint as Cleveland Indians pitching coach and New York Mets manager.

for a player to be named. I liked Dexter. His time here was up and down, performance wise. Think he’ll be a good look for the Angels’ outfield.

In response to Reply # 45

That’s 7. Dodgers have consistently had more than 5 quality starters in recent years, but man. Wonder if they liked Urias out of the bullpen so much in the playoffs, they’ll keep him there? He would be a huge weapon in that role. He could pile up the 2 and 3 inning saves.

In response to Reply # 0

this is just crazy to me. He doesnt even have 162 games under his belt yet and you throw a 14 year contract at him. I know the ceiling is very high for him. But damn one bad injury could snowball into 14 years of DL visits. For him he is making sure he only gets 1 pay day for his entire career. He will be well past his prime when this is up. So his only chance at a big contract will be if Artie Moreno is looking for a SS in 14 years. Damn this is just crazy.
