"NBA Off-season 2020?"

normally we would be starting the new season now...

There seems to be a tug-of-war between the league/owners and the players about a start date...

Dec. 22, Christmas Day and MLK Day have all be thrown around...

Obviously money and number of games are big issues on both sides...

I'm sure the teams that didn't make the playoffs or lost early are probably like "eff the Lakers lets go!"

Bron will definitely have to do some "load management"...

When will the draft be?

What about free-agency? Assuming Davis re-signs with the Lakers there aren't a lot of big names on the market but moves will be made...

Will there big any big trades out there? Will Giannis move? CP3? PG? Will the Warriors make a move with their #1 pick or keep it? Will Morey make any splashy moves in Philly?

They'll do it via videoconferencing, and the combine stuff is going on now, so that seems a virtual lock to happen at that time.

maybe they'll try to do it on a limited basis like the NFL?

Florida will let anyone do anything, so probably the Heat will operate at 25% capacity. I expect around the same for Orlando and Atlanta. I think the Texas teams will operate at limited capacity as well.

West Coast arenas will be empty regardless. Even as a lot of cities are starting to reopen businesses.

I really don't see the Midwest spike going away by December, so I have a hard time believing the Bucks/Wolves/Bulls will host fans.

I think it's really going to come down to how many people are dying a day during the late fall/winter.

Goddamn do I miss the bubble. It's obviously not sustainable for an entire season, but the playoffs this year were fucking fantastic. Stories for days. Game winners. Upsets. Star-making series. And I mean, my team won, so that's nice.

I fucking miss it, and it's been what...3 weeks?

Anyway, I think the Lakers more or less run it back. AD is re-upping, the only question is how many years. I think Dwight and Rondo will be back too. Green has another year, and he might become a trade chip but there's nobody who will trade anything worth a damn for Green & Kuzma (~16 million in salary). Caruso is here to stay - he feels like a D Fish type presence. KCP is almost for sure going to stay, but he's going to get a pay raise.

I dunno. Honestly, right today...I don't care all that much. We're the champs and have 2 of the best 5 players in the league.

I miss it too, I've been watching random Finals games on NBA network just to fill the basketball void. I think if healthy we have a good shot to run it back. I could see AD doing 2 years with the 3rd being a player option like a lot of other guys have done recently. There is still some Cuz talk out there, I think that would be interesting. I'd like to see Kieff come back. I like his versatility and toughness. It will be interesting to see what AB does.

we wouldn't need BOOGIE to be BOOGIE, just a bench role, if he wants more than that he'll go somewhere else

The regular season is the play in tourney.

You fight and you play hard all season long to earn s playoff spot, but then you
Have to do a play in tourney to EARN another spot?

The team already earned the spot via the regular season. They are doing too much.
This isn’t the NCAA. We don’t need single elimination games.

A series is what makes the playoffs great.

I would imagine the owners lost a ton of money due to the pandemic, which in turn will have to lead to the CBA getting changed, correct?

first day of camp started yesterday, harden MIA w/ no ETA on arrival.

breh been out there in Vegas clubbing w/ no mask on all weekend w/ Lil Baby buying him prada bags and watches for his birthday.

normally i wouldnt give a shit about an athlete skipping out on camp but to do this on a black coach, on his first HC job, is just totally disgusting to me.

have to gut their team to trade for him and keep KD & Kyrie and I'm not sure they want to do that. Morey probably wants to send Simmons but Houston probably wants Embiid. I think it will come down to who blinks first.

If only because I am bored at work.

For the trade to work monetarily, Julius Randle would have to be added to any trades since he's the only 'big ticket' player in terms of annual salary. On paper, any trade involving getting Randle off and away from the Knicks would be stellar. In any and all planets in the solar system, any trade involving Julius Randle and James Harden would land the Knicks as a winner.

The bad news of course is that Harden would be beyond toxic on and off the court since he'd ball hog to comic levels. And there's also the added injury that he would be playing in NYC, but would not be playing with Durant and Kyrie, which be a soap opera I wouldn't want to younger players on the Knicks to be involved with.

I doubt he's there past the break

This is full blown malcontent shit.

We'll hear about how they're in no rush to trade him, he's got three years left, etc.

Meanwhile, we see how that usually turns out.

His time in Houston is done. I think that was obvious at the end of this past season.

Sources: Houston Rockets' James Harden open to being traded to Philadelphia 76ers, other NBA contenders

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30477567/sources-houston-rockets-james-harden-open-being-traded-philadelphia-76ers-other-contenders

James Harden indicated to the Houston Rockets before the beginning of training camp that he would be open to a trade to the Philadelphia 76ers or possibly other contenders, sources told ESPN.

Harden, the perennial MVP candidate who is holding out of training camp, previously requested to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets to form a super team with former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

People worry about the defensive end, but Klay coming off of an Achilles injury would still play better defense than Harden plays now.

The Warriors are better off trying to re-sign Oubre.

but I'll let you Warriors fans keep counting on Klay coming back in 2022 thinking you're going to turn the clock back until 2015 even though you don't have the supporting cast you had then when you beat Bron when Kyrie and Love were hurt lol

applies to LeBron now.

not the Decision
not going back to Cleveland
not being down 3-1 to the most regular season wins ever team in the Finals
not going to the West where said team still domimate(d)
not a pandemic
not playing on the Kobe team in a year where Kobe died
not being "old"

I have the Lakers running it back now, the way the West is looking.
