Masvidal, Trump Jr. Embark On Anti-Socialism Bus Tour

Jesse Holland 24 mins ago

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight rivals Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington may be at war on just about everything under the sun, but one thing they do agree on is the future of the country under the leadership of President Donald Trump.

Who’s up for reelection in November (as if you didn’t know).

That’s why Masvidal will join a group of fellow mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters for a one-day bus tour across “The Sunshine State,” where “Gamebred” and Co. will speak out against socialism, an issue close to the Cuban’s heart.

“Jorge Masvidal will join Donald Trump Jr. on a day long ‘Fighters Against Socialism’ bus tour across Florida this Saturday,” ESPN reporter Ariel Helwani wrote on Twitter. “They will hold three rallies in Tampa, Orlando and Miami. Their final rally will be at the American Top Team gym where they expect numerous fighters to join.”

The same American Top Team that gave Covington the boot.

With Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns set to collide for “The Nigerian Nightmare’s” 170-pound strap, Masvidal is expected to battle “Chaos” at some point later this year or first quarter 2021; however, nothing is official at this time.

Stay tuned.

UFC as a demo has definitely been leaning MAGA pretty hard.

I don't expect this bus tour will actually be sophisticated discussions of the positives and negatives of various forms of socialist governance.

Jorge Masvidal won't be the first Cuban living in Florida to vote Republican, so I'm not totally surprised by this.

This is disappointing however since this is going to possibly help Trump get a second term.

Have to wonder if Colby will also have a seat on this spirited bus ride.

To the point where I was kind of a fan.

I kind of started tuning out MMA as a whole though. Turns out there's a lot of really shitty people in that sport. I'm old and crusty, but i liked it when it was a little less WWE. Connor followed the Floyd blueprint and tapped into the money faucet. Since then, everyone else trying to play the heel and get paid. Meh. I'm just not as interested in watching all the fighters trying to make a name for themselves by spouting ignorant shit - especially when they frequently cross the line into racist territory too.

I watched Usman break Colby down, and it was nice, but I didn't honestly feel any better about having seen hours of footage of that shit human being in the prefight. (I know, it's supposedly an act, but at a certain point you are what you put out into the world...)

The idea of most of these dudes having any kind of political influence is not something I really want to ponder.

even people like rashad evans are behind him (and also a qanon believer). even kamaru usman was at a trump rally in atlanta.

https://twitter.com/MMAjunkie/status/1309749639533522944

a bunch of ufc fighters like gaethje and cejudo were at a trump rally in nv.

the common thread for a lot of this seems to be ali abdelaziz. he started posting about how cool he was with richard grenell (trump ally) and then a lot of these dudes started going hard for trump. i dont doubt that many are genuine supporters. but i wouldnt put it past grenell/abdelaziz to be throwing a bag around for the heavy promotion too.

UFC def attracts some shady characters, too. Funny how MAGA fans not shouting 'stick to sports' in regards to UFC.

I'm not even saying UFC fighters should stick to sports, just that I don't value their opinion.

It would be interesting to learn more about the Abdelaziz/Grenell connections to see if they were throwing some cash around. I think UFC fighters as a group are undervalued in terms of pay. They're also really limited in ways that they can monetize their platform. If most of the main guys all roll up under one agency then you could see how easily it might be for someone to slide them some cash to use their platform for MAGA shite.

Did you see the video Dana White did for the Republican National Convention two or so weeks ago?

Dana has been known MAGA, and a huge piece of shit way before the Trump era.

I really do my best not to give that guy an audience.

as previously scheduled.

Also want to note, Colby Covington was at the debates earlier in the week. Wonder how close he got to folks that potentially have or had COVID-19.
