"Proposed NBA return and paramaters. Set to come back 7/31"

i wouldve preferred they just take the 1-8 from each conference as is and move on but the NBA got a lot of money to recoup and they really want Zion or a healthy Portland in the playoffs

---

22 teams, 13 from the west, 9 from the east. everybody plays 8 regular season games to close things out and get some warmup for the playoffs.

extra teams will be New Orleans, Portland, Phoenix, Sacramento and San Antonio in the West and Washington in the East.

after the 8 games:
- If 9th seed is 4 or more games back, 8th seed earns spot
- If 9th seed is 4 or fewer games behind, play-in: Single-elimination for 9th seed, double-elimination for 8th.
(the 4 game thing is to make up for the fact that they wont get the change to play the full 15 remaining games they actually had)

remainder of the season would run to 10/12 at the latest

he wasn't coming back, has he changed his mind? I'm assuming a lot of the international players are overseas. Wouldn't they have to quarantine for at least 14 days?

3. "The PA has to approve everything. And yes, 14-day quarantine"
In response to Reply # 1

But starting tomorrow a lot of guys could start returning, doing the quarantine and then jumping into team functions (workouts, practice, camp, whatever).

But all this stuff is outside the scope of the CBA so any plans have to be approved by the PA. The NHL is going through this now. Every little detail needs PA approval. It'll be interesting to see how the NBA approaches it. The players pool of money for the players isn't that significant and I imagine that the league won't toy with it much.

Maybe Dula or someone can explain just how much impetus the players have to finish the season (e.g. collect playoff TV money) as it relates to next season. In the NHL, they had a lot of impetus because of the escrow system and other elements of the CBA. I am sure the NBA guys also have some motivation there, but I don't know how much.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

2. "Why are they even bothering with this regular-season schedule?"
In response to Reply # 0

I'm not saying things were firmly decided but I mean we are looking at 5.5 games back for the Wiz. So the East was pretty set. In the West, yeah you had three teams 3.5 games of the final spot but still. I get the sense the eight games are sort of a preseason just to get guys back to game speed, and that the broader format is more of an experiment than anything. They want to look at the potential for a play-in round (more games) and take this opportunity without travel to maybe ease in a conference-less setup.

I'm excited the season is coming back but not crazy about the format. I'd have preferred to just go right into the playoffs with maybe three tune-up games for each team.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

In response to Reply # 2

8 games will blow by fast - but it's enough action to allow them to work out some kinks (not just physically but also organizationally) and get at least somewhat accustomed to a radically different environment (no fans/neutral site/long layoff etc..).

I think going right into the playoffs would be too abrupt and wouldn't produce the best product for fans.

...the play-offs.

It's very likely that they're going to be the only game in town when this starts, so they'd like to give some of their young talent be on prime-time. They figure a player like Zion is still going to be ratings gold, so they're going to give him the opportunity to get in.

Personally, I don't love this half-measure. Either start directly with the play-offs with the teams already in or let every team in league play their final eight-games.

...while the season is going on. Considering how the shit hit the fan three months ago with Gobert, I think that the ownership and the player's union can talk as much big talk as the want, but it all changes as soon as someone tests positive.

I'm going on record that this is a bad idea. Just watch that episode of Jon Oliver as to why. And granted the NBA organizations/locker rooms aren't as big as MLB's or the NFL's, but there's still a lot of people that are going to be involved in making this happen, and they're going to put a lot of other people in danger. I want sports back too, but I don't want it to potentially cost lives. Especially considering how poorly the U.S. government has handled this whole thing.

Granted, Germany has their shit together more than we do, but Bundesliga teams are traveling too, adding a degree of risk that isn’t there in the NBA’s plan.

The NBA is smart to let soccer restart first. England has been almost as much a clusterfuck as us, and they’re starting six weeks before the NBA. If they can do it, with travel, the NBA should be fine,

Look, I get that we want the NBA and want something positive to root for, but this plan is playing with fire. And putting everyone in danger right today so we can be entertained is irresponsible.

This article a couple weeks ago covered the bubble issue generally but also revealed a lot of the specifics of how the Warriors planned to broadcast that silent game with the Nets right before Gobert tested posi.

https://www.theringer.com/nba/2020/5/28/21266636/nba-game-no-fans-bubble

There would also be nothing to hear but the authentic soundtrack of NBA basketball—”the game in its purest form,” as it were, only with more motherfuckers. “It would be raw,” Curry told Jimmy Kimmel last week. “Everybody has those mics on their jerseys sometimes, when they play the Inside Trax or whatever. This would take it a whole ‘nother level of just pure insanity of what we say on the court. That trash talk that happens, even myself taking part in it. But I think everybody, whether you’re on the court, on the bench, all the nonsense—that might be something that’s really appealing from a fan perspective to get real up close and personal with what we do on the court.”

Whether you consider that a feature or a bug likely depends on your concern with FCC compliance. For the Warriors’ planned broadcast, one crew member’s sole responsibility was to sit with a finger on the delay button, waiting for the next f-bomb. According to Pollicino, the league office had also intended to warn the players involved in the game of just how far their voices may carry.

Mike Breen brought it up in both that article and a couple podcasts he's guested on that he's really curious if Jeff Van Gundy could be the first person in NBA history to be ejected from the game as both a coach and a broadcaster when he criticizes a coaching decision in a high intensity playoff game, the coach hears it and begins a confrontation. Or if Doris Burke or Doug Collins makes an observation about poor adjustments or defensive strategy/effort, how will the players react?

The easy answer seems like putting the broadcasters in a booth somewhere, though then they have the awkward experience of describing basically the same thing we're watching on TV and without that exclusive courtside seating are they perfunctory to the whole thing? Should they just broadcast the ambient stadium noise and borrow the crowd audio samples from the NBA 2K series?

Maybe when they get deeper in the playoffs

But whoever wins earned it. Everyone had to go through this shit together. It's not as "asterisky" as a injured star in the finals to me, but....yeah depending how it all shakes out and if a 6 seed wins or something, it'll be viewed differently.

Or some flukey team pulls it off. It was wide open to begin with. Maybe in history ig the team that wins never tastes success again.

But who thinks of the 99 spurs team as an asterisk ring anyway

There's 3 titles in recent memory that'd qualify for an "asterisk".

99 Spurs - Phil Jackson was the biggest proponent of that, right? Anyway, feels like it's all but disappeared since...

12 Heat - Shortened season, but I truly don't even remember anyone CALLING this an asterisk title - which is wild, because it was Lebron's first and you know how everyone was trying to discredit him back then.

19 Raptors - Nobody REALLY calls it an asterisk title, but given the health of the Dubs I'm putting it here. Plus, Kawhi going insane that whole postseason kinda negates that talk.

Name me any other team in history that has won a title under circumstances half as challenging. You can’t. Whoever brings their team back together enough to survive the playoff meatgrinder is a worthy champion.

Oh, and only Laker fans do that asterisk bullshit with the Spurs. The rest of aren’t so deluded.

But because of the George Floyd tragedy and the powerful movement for racial justice that’s sweeping the nation, some players believe it’s bad optics for a league of predominantly black men to be sequestered in one location for up to three months merely to entertain the masses and ease the league’s economic burden, sources said.

at all. Von Miller already had it, Zeke tested positive, now Aaron Donald. In the NBA, KD and bunch of guys from the Nets, Malcolm Brogdon, crazy numbers in South Florida. I guess the tipping point is gonna be when Bron, Mike Trout or someone like that tests positive. Mike Ryan who is a huge wrestling fan was saying how they are getting ravaged by Covid...one dude just contracted it for the second time. A couple golfers pulled out of an upcoming tournament because both their caddies tested positive. Seems more and more improbable by the day.

This is just going to get worse. Numbers are already sky-rocketing in the summer, when this was supposed to "go away." Now just imagine how things are going to shake out once the actual flu season starts in the fall/winter.

And this is just with MLB/NBA/wrestling/golf. It'll be even worse if they try to restart the NFL/college football, where there'll be a TON of pressure to have games with fans.

There's no real need to keep trying to push this shit forward, besides greed by the owners.

People say..oh they're young and healthy..but we don't know the long-term affects Covid has. Whether you have symptoms or not...how does it affect you later? I read an article on Von Miller and he was saying he was still getting he still didn't feel like himself, that he was getting his lungs back in shape. He's a specimen of a man. How will he feel getting after the QB at Denver altitudes? Shit is so uncertain. I don't blame ANY player in any sport who says, "nah, son...I'm good".

Some former sufferers have permanent lung damage which for a professional athlete is extremely problematic. A headline today that cruised past my Twitter feed said that the illness can trigger diabetes in people.

Saying this to say that these athletes are the most likely to survive this illness because of their physical health but it would be a near tragedy if an athlete with some type of respitory illness ends up catching the illness and can't play again because their lungs are damaged. Or worse.

There's about 2% of me that's greedy and would like to watch Bron and the Lakers win the title or any basketball, but watching basketball knowing an athlete could get terribly sick just to satisfy my need for entertainment isn't fair or decent. This NBA season doesn't need any more catastrophy. To me waiting until 2021 either to continue this season or just start over is better.

Yeah, unfortunately the Disney bubble will not be safe, but it might be safer for 80% of the players vs. What they're doing right today

i fully expect the season not to start or if it does (because of greed) for it to be shut down. so im not letting myself get excited about the season.

as far as nba, well the bulls have a ways to go before they have something exciting lol it would be cool to watch some nba playoffs but not at the expense of anyones health.

i would also be watching if it does come back but i dont think its a good idea.

Its evident by how people are living their lives.

They gonna try to make season happen until a substantial amount of players are positvie and the end product is a watered down game.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

I don’t think any of this sport shit is gonna work out. I’m amazed at how folks believe and want to believe that sports are gonna just start and finish seasons with minimal incident.

I am not above admitting that I’m wrong if it works out. So far tho? I told my wife in mid-March that if things are open, people won’t have the restraint to stay away, safety be damned. 3 months later, I’m embarrassed at how right I was. Folks have been lined up outside of chain haircut places, low end restaurants, and Ross with a straight face. And even with millions potentially on the line, athletes still can’t be the fuck careful.

I missed out on predicting the anger of folks going out of their way to come up with narratives that go against wearing masks and/or staying the fuck home. Brittle spirits for real, Dave. I admit that I don’t love wearing masks either but I do it when I have to go somewhere and get out of the car. Luckily, I don’t have to do it much. Working from home, hella food and grocery options that don’t involve walking into anywhere, all of that. And bonus, I like my house and folks in it. AND I have hobbies, so I don’t ‘feel a need’ to be anywhere just for the fuck of it. Because there’s a damn virus going around fucking folks up. Maybe I’m living in a fortunate / lucky ass bubble.

Aka I’m doing well...even with constantly being big-faced by ‘folks won’t believe this really happened in 2020-level‘ racism, embarrassingly unaware white people foolishness, a casual lack of compassion and human decency, and lazy fake wokeness. Add in an election year where one candidate looks to be out of tricks and the other is laying low and hoping he wins just cuz he’s not the current president. I think I get it..it’s harder to weaponize sexism and racism when you’re running against another old white guy. And folks think we’re just gonna crank up some sports in the middle of all of this!? We’ll see!

Unless there's some sort of fool-proof insta test that they can administer before every practice and every game, there's just no way of preventing a breakout on a team without keeping every player and coach and ref isolated from their families, friends, and the rest of the world.

They clearly *want* the playoffs to happen. We all do. But without reasonable safety measures in play, how can this possibly work? Are they just going to have a team forfeit a series when five of their players emerge with positive tests one afternoon?

Have they thought this through, or have they just thought about the money? (Rhetorical question, I obviously know the answer.)

1. Florida greenlit the WWE to hold their events there a few months ago. So they figured they wouldn't have to jump through a lot of hoops to get the greenlight.

2. Disneyworld, on paper, is a decent place to think that you could create "a bubble." It already has most of the infrastructure to maintain a population of hundreds of people cut off from the rest of the state. Due to baseball spring training, both Florida and Arizona in general have this pre-existing infrastructure.

3. Warm weather state that most of the players actually like going to.

Of course, the state government in Florida is fun by a bunch of moronic shitheads who opened everything too quickly in order to make the Dipshit in charge happy, so here we sit.

but it's obviously been a terrible plan for a while now.

I laughed when the NHL went back on their plan to have half the league play in a US city and half the league play in a Canadian city.

Last week the NHL said "nope" and moved all games to Canada.

I would too.

it wouldn't have mattered where they picked. that's what happens when sports leagues and independent restaurants are in charge of making public health decisions in lieu of an absentee federal government. the KBO or Bundesliga would be in the same position if their countries were governed by Trump and his entire party of acolytes.

I see league pass is much cheaper but of course blocks local games

Sling seems decent with ESPN and TNT (that might be enough for me tbh)

The sports pass gives you NBATV, which has been putting the scrimmages on and has regular games on too. Digital antennae gives me ABC.

I’m normally an every year League Pass subscriber, but I’m not gonna do it, for this short “season”. I’ll just rock with whatever of the 8 warmup games are on TNT or ESPN...and should be able to see the playoffs on those...got the digi antenna for ABC.

if you're watching league pass on nba.com you can bypass local blackouts with a VPN service. just set your IP address to outside of the blackout zone before you load up the game page. i use PIA. i'm pretty sure it won't work in the post-season since the all the games will be on network and cable channels. last year i got youtube tv for the playoffs and it worked well. might try sling this year since youtube sometimes has bad compression that obfuscates the action on the court

won shit, never went to the Finals, never made the conference Finals(that benchwarmer shit on the Spurs doesn’t count), on TV making excuses for Lou Williams is the reason why he never made it past the 2nd round as a star player.

Winning is about more than talent it’s about leadership. A million restaurants in ATL and he had to go to Magic City? While his teammates are basically on lockdown with no spouses or girlfriends stuck rubbing one out to Pornhub?

Like, I don't doubt that the food at Magic City is really fucking good. And I don't doubt that Lou Williams REALLY likes to eat there whenever he was in town. But there's 0% chance that he was there **JUST** for a meal.

Williams is a grown-ass man and it's certainly legal, but ye gods, the optics are bad.

This is some shit you expect a rookie to do not a 15 year vet on the team.

Who is it on the Clips that’s going to have that talk. I don’t see Kawhi or PG having the stones to do that. Maybe Pat Beverly but he’s out the bubble himself and got people scrutinizing his every move now. Does that leave it all on Doc?

But it’s not a surprise at this point sadly. Thibs byke tho. I’m most upset that Adam Gase got another gig right after Miami. And he’s still running off their best players.

they already have a season-suspending team outbreak a few weeks into baseball and football is gonna be an absolute amateur hour clusterfuck.

baseball had more natural advantages than any other sport outside of tennis and golf and they still fucked it up. the story of this entire season is about to be reduced to covid infections and bean ball.

i hope the politics governing each leagues decisions are highlighted in the convo. one league clearly views health, humanity, science, and expertise a lot differently than the others. and we see how that affects real world outcomes.

MLB and NFL leagues and owners seem to lean towards the conservative side and we see the results so far.

MLB could've easily done a "bubble" like the NBA are there was even talk of 2 bubbles in FL & AZ where most teams have minor league facilities anyway but they said "nah, fuck it, play ball!"

Its looking like a large number of NFL players may sit out the season if they're financially able to.

The NHL has its 2 bubble locations in Canada and it appears to be working well.

And their timing is off as well. Players are doing a lot of fouling because the physicality just isn’t there to play defense....lots of turnovers.

Not a bad game though.

The 4 quarter is going to be interesting.

However, clippers are without Williams and Harrell, and are still able to score. Gotta wonder where the lakers are going to get consistent offense from when facing elite perimeter defense. Their rotation does not look good right now. what will their starting 5 be?

Well, the clippers can throw 3 elite defenders at him, so you have to worry about that for an entire series.

And the lakers got back in this game with George and Kawhi on the bench ..no stars on the court for the clippers, because no Harrell and no Williams.

But its just the first game....so I’m not going to dig too deep.

I’ll say one thing if the lakers do win the chip it will be because of their defense ....that’s what they are going to have to ride.

Clippers gotta feel good as hell though.

Yes, they have some elite perimeter defenders, but LeBron is always going to be around 50% in a series. If they keep him below 50%, they did a great job.

This is rust and an off night. Rotation will be worked out. Dion is going to prove to be a nice addition. He’s played well tonight. Rondo should be back down the road too.

Clips got a monster squad too. Gonna be fun.

Lol.

You really lost this game because George got fouled clearly ....no Williams no Harrell.
And you get back in the game with George and Leonard on the bench.and you still only win by 2

The season series is 2-2

But you will beat them in 6 in PO?

Okay. Why don’t you ever judge things fairly?

You were talking shit early in the year because the Mavs or something were beating the Lakers for a little while.

LeBron locked Kawhi and PG, and PG threw up some bricky ass bullshit hoping he’d get fouled and then threw a fit to distract from how scrubby he looked on that shot. Just shoot the fucking ball, how about that? Wasn’t no foul there. Lakers win! Eat it.

Why is everything so defensive and crazy with you? It like you respond like an adolescent. You name and say all types of things.

Paul George got fouled, and all the TNT guys agreed. It was a rushed shot but he got fouled. Cool you disagree.

The point was he said the lakers would win in six games in the playoffs ...when you guys barely beat a clippers team with no Williams and Harrell , with George and Kawhi on the bench for you to make a run.

That was the point before your tangent.

Take a deep breath , a long one.

and tell me I’m replying like an adolescent. Classic.

Let’s talk about how PG was more worried about trying to draw a foul than shooting the ball with confidence on the last play - on a night where he made 6 3’s, if we want to be a little “edgy”.

Joakim Noah can still ball. Some good defensive play by him.

It would be a crime if these teams met in the second round.....with load management ,doc doesn’t care about the regular season. No home court either? Doc might say fock it. And play Kawhi once a week. They might finish in the 4th spot.

Anthony Davis showed the fock out on Both ends. Kuzma looked ready too, good game on both sides.

With Rondo and Bradley down, obviously that Portland backcourt will be a huge problem if they’re at the top of their games. And getting Nurkic and Collins back is huge for them. I could see them pushing the Lakers, but ultimately LeBron and AD is too much.

Before I typed that, I thought it might be a joke, but now that I think about it, between the offseason, the shortened season, the quarantine? Genuinely may be the most time off from basketball in a 12-month span that he's had since, like, age 13. He's probably got fresher legs than he's had in years.

Clearly he'd devolved on defensive effort to some extent over the last year or two, but that was clearly because he was saving himself for the offensive end. If he's got fresh legs and feels he can exert himself more consistently on the defensive end, then that's obviously HUGE, because very few players can score on a guy that big, quick, and smart when he's locked in defensively. (Also helps that he feels less of a scoring burden on this Laker team, he can focus on distributing a lot more and getting banged around a lot less.)

at high-leverage, game-deciding moments like that is bananas.

Bron was off all night w/ his shot/timing and they still won despite both Kawhi and PG getting off. AD was a monster in the first half but Lakers are going to need him to get more involved in the 4th.

Waiters was a really great pickup for this team.

Both teams had a lot of rust, but that was a fun game to watch.

Despite Kawhi and George going off the lakers won?

Let me clear this up:

- Montrez and Lou didn’t play
- Kawhi was in foul trouble in the first half with 3 fouls and
sat most of the half as well as Marcus Morris.
- clipper went up by 11!
- lakers got back in the game with Kawhi and George on the bench
- Davis took over when the clippers had Beverly,Jackson, green, Shamet and zubak on
The floor. Repeat that lineup

And the lakers still almost lost

If Portland is the eight seed and clippers fall to the 4th seed, which they will because
they don’t give a crap about the regular games, be worried!

To have to face Portland in the first round and clippers in the second....

And Portland is looking sick as hell right now ....everybody is healthy..

no need to be so pressed bruh.

>Despite Kawhi and George going off the lakers won?

Yes. Both guys went off and had big nights, combining for nearly 60 points.

>Let me clear this up:
>
>- Montrez and Lou didn’t play

yea we know. Lakers are missing Bradley & Rondo too - so they aren't healthy either. But of course Lou & Montrez are huge pieces off the bench for LAC, but them being out also let both PG & Kawhi get in great rhythms offensively.

But what happened when they both played and the Clippers had all their pieces before the pandemic when the Lakers beat them at home?

>- clipper went up by 11!

Lakers had a big lead as well. Actually, Lakers held the lead for ~35 minutes of that game. They outplayed the Clippers for the vast majority of the game.

>And the lakers still almost lost

The Clippers actually lost.

>If Portland is the eight seed and clippers fall to the 4th
>seed, which they will because
>they don’t give a crap about the regular games, be worried!

I'd be more worried about facing Dallas in the 1st round if I were the Clippers - instead of praying for an unlikely Portland upset.

At halftime the score was 85 - 75....no defense was played ..none

The final score : 153–149. That’s an allStar game. I cut it off after the third. Just threes and open paths to the basket.

That’s not my kind of basketball.

The Bucks, Clips, and Lakers are still the 3 best teams in the NBA, and that goes for defense as well.

Portland is now a very interesting and dangerous team with everyone healthy, but still
lack defense.

Celtics didn’t look too good, especially Tatum. They competed, but guys are still not in shape. However Marcus Smart looks like he kept his conditioning up.

All eyes on Philly tomorrow, Simmons starting as the point forward, and shake at the Pg position. No Sabonis for the pacers so Embid should have his way.

Johnathan Issac makes Orlando an entirely different team...I think they beat LA during the regular season. A very dangerous defensive squad. They make you work for everything.

There's some hiccups in the play, but also so tremendous

People care. They are into it. Defense struggles cuz guys
are out of shape and need to get reoriented.

But overall: A+

Well done so far

They turned it into quality theater, while practicing strict safety measures.

No way will baseball and football be able to do that. They play outside, and there are just too many players to a team.

You can build a basketball court and ice rink on a campus in a matter of weeks, or borrow one from the university.

I think the only thing that football and baseball can do is try to do it on a college campus. A college campus already has dorms, cafeterias, and it is in a secluded area.

He should actually be deactivated for the season. The lower half of his body is a structural nightmare and the pelicans know it, so they are going to tip toe this , as they should.

A knot knee power forward who plays with tremendous speed and force. They way he lands makes me cringe.

Pelicans as a team and medical staff know what they hell they are doing. He is the face of the franchise, and you don’t risk that for a bubble playoff run.

First quarter...19 points! No sabonis . No lamb

Philly still hasn’t change. They could very well win this game...but still looks like the same philly.

like the front office never looks at one of the most talented teams in the nba and wonders how good they might really be if they just replaced *that* guy.

i honestly dont think ive ever seen people in general discuss a teams flaws so much and not lay most of it on the feet of the head coach.

we got entire sports news cycles dedicated to ben simmons not shooting 3s and his and embiids inability to play together...and people rarely pointed the finger at the one guy in the building who actually gets paid to make all of that work.

its weird af.

None of those players are alphas..none. Jimmy butler had them niggas in check.

Just a bad mix of players, who need to be on a team with alphas .

Embid was like that at Kansas with Wiggins...whole squad was jelly and got bounced in the tourney. And Bill Self is a good as coach.

No coach can fix that squad. Simmons refuses to shoot or learn how to shoot, ship his ass and get a leader in there.

Not one alpha on that squad like the clippers, bucks or lakers...or even the pacers. Warren is an alpha and the holiday brothers...

We saw it against the clippers with half their stars out. OG put the lock on lebron all game and was just faster and better. Raptors are just a faster squad.

Dion Waiters is still Dion Waiters. If AD does not go off for you guys, Yall in trouble straight up.

Clippers are not focking around. Dogs and goons prison raped the pelicans. They ready. Bucks ready.

Are the lakers ready? Past two games say NO.

Harrell
Schroder
Smart

I think Harrell is the favorite, but clippers can still win a chip without him, and not skip a beat. They have proven that already. Okc would regress without Schroder, and Boston would definitely miss Smart’s defense. He is their best defender, and has really evolved offensively this year.

And Lou Wills is dropping 18.7 /6 off the bench as well.

Either one of the top three is alright by me.....

Information has yet to be provided as to why Jimmy was placed in self isolation, and he didn’t practice with the team.

I was shocked to see him doing an interview yesterday without wearing a mask. This morning the NBA released a statement that players will be fined or suspended for not following mask protocols. I wonder if that was in relation to jimmy not wearing a mask, and is his self isolation due to a suspension or did he test positive for Covid?

I hope it’s a non-issue.

These cats are scoring against tight defense..this is good basketball.

Portland is a major major problem. Nurkic is gifted as fock, looks like Arvydus Sabonis. That nigga can ball on both sides.

They got bigs, scoring, a bench, an elite backcourt...

Eric Bledsoe is their only physical, fast, PG. When he goes down or is out, Hill and Middleton run the point, and that shit is disastrous. Hill is a 3 and D PG, no real speed or physicality. And Middleton is not a pG. he got handles but that doesn’t make him a PG. Divencenzo is ass running the point.

They never did get a replacement for Malcolm B. Harden and Westbrook are having their way.

Bad matchup for the bucks without Bledsoe. I think they beat Milwaukee in the regular season. Gotta get Bledsoe and Caughnington back soon.

dude still has mad trouble finding an open man when the d collapses on him in the paint and doesnt give him an open lane to the basket. dude is constantly tryna force passes while hes in the air, on one leg, off balance, etc.

never seen a dude just fall to the ground from trying to get a pass around defenders as much as he does.

when the defense collapses around him. He is a great inside the paint passer, and in open space. Milwaukee in general sucks in pressure ball handling situations, especially in the paint , and being forced to make an outlet pass.

It gets amplified against smaller teams, because they are low to the ground with quick hands. Milwaukee has lost against Houston twice!! That’s not an accident. Milwaukee can dominate them easily on the boards, scoring , etc. However, Houston has the ability to pressure Milwaukee into making mistakes, because of bad ball handling and bad passing due to bad ball handling. It’s a terrible matchup because milwaukee only has one true elite ball handler.

One other team can do that against giannis and Milwaukee ....Toronto!

Coach better fix that shit ASAP or they ain’t getting past Toronto. They beat the lakers twice and bounced the Bucks last year.

Magic fucked up on this one. He should not have been playing back to back games. He is an all out player and is a beast, so the restricted minutes were not enough. This is why I don’t want hear shit from people about Zion not playing enough.

Victor Oladipo still isn’t playing back to back and he has been back for awhile.

I agree that he’s not in game shape right now, but it’s still amazing how DOMINANT dude is even out of shape. Not since Shaq have we seen a dude so clearly heavy who still simply can’t be stopped.

Can’t wait to see him and Nurkic go up against each other. Their games are very similar.

Utah is so dumb. They haven’t even attempted to double Davis, leaving Rudy out there all by himself. Rudy can’t guard AD, especially outside the paint.

Lebron is having his way with Utah. Conley, Ingles, and Clarkson ain’t guarding shit. Snyder would be better off going with a zone defense.

Clippers have looked very good since the start of the bubble games, up until now.

Keep in mind Lou wills still isn’t in shape and Harrell is out, but Suns look really really good , and they are without Oubre.

Just to think, they traded TJ Warren for cash considerations! If he were still on this team, that would be lights out. They defend well too.

Let’s See if the clips can pick it up in the second half. Kawhi and clippers are known to play possum...Kawhi does look disinterested.

Fuck around no LA team comes out of the West.

Granted, he's been playing the best ball of his career in Indiana... but he's now a net positive BPM player for the first time *in his career.* He was a textbook empty-stats-no-defense guy in Phoenix.

my Nigga, Warren shot 50 percent from the field every season in Phoenix. You don’t trade that away. He is shooting 53 percent this season.

He is a career 50 percent shooter! You can always teach defense and passing..but you can’t teach 50 percent shooting. Dude is efficient as fuck.

The got rid of him to resign oubre...not saying oubre is a bum, but that move is not looking so good. Phx actually looks better without oubre.

And that Milwaukee vs Brooklyn game? Giannis and Middleton sat the entire second half and brook lopez didn’t start.

Felt like I was watching a Black Mirror episode with the virtual fans and video game camera angles -- but after about a week with it -- the product is phenomenal (all things considered).

If they pull this off (by crowning a champion with little to no issues with Covid) - it's really a monumental organizational feat. Also, the messaging and emphasis on social justice has a constant thus far - but in a balanced way where I don't feel like it's unnatural or forced.

Gotta give props to the League. From top to bottom they are showing out.

Quit soft trapping harden, which forces your big man to pick up a cutting
player to the basket. Now Nurkic has 5 fouls with 7 mins to go. Just put your
Best Defender on Harden and live with that. Also, it leaves a player wide open for a three.

If Nurkic fouls out, Portland will not win this game.

In response to Reply # 274

Although I'm going to give the league the benefit of the doubt. They're not half-assing this.

https://nba.nbcsports.com/2020/06/26/players-families-must-quarantine-off-site-before-entering-nbas-orlando-bubble/

Not having family and friends on the Walt Disney World campus has drawn intense complaints from players who don’t want to spend at least a month and maybe 50+ days away from the people they are closest to. Understandably, some teams and coaches are pushing to get families in earlier.

Even when that family does arrive, they will have to quarantine for days in another part of Orlando before they can enter the NBA’s bubble and see their loved one, reports Marc Stein of The New York Times.

After the first round of the NBA playoffs at Walt Disney World, player guests will have to do a three-day quarantine in the Orlando area away from the NBA campus and then a four-day quarantine on campus before having the abilities to move within the grounds, league sources say

— Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) June 26, 2020

The league's plan remains for teams to be allotted up to 17 extra guest rooms — one per player — for player guests after the NBA is down from 22 teams to a final eight entering the second round of the playoffs

— Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) June 26, 2020

According to the 113-page handbook of health and safety protocols put together by the league, teams can do this three-day quarantine for families in their home market — the Bucks could do it in Milwaukee, for example — but it must be overseen by the team and include coronavirus testing of family members. The league may have changed that to allow for only doing this initial quarantine in Orlando; the league’s original plan called for a seven-day quarantine once on the Disney campus, not just the four Stein reports (that quarantine still includes not seeing the player that is their family member).

Family will not go through these steps and be let into the bubble until after the first round of the playoffs. That means only eight teams will be allowed to bring in any family, and it will already be 50 days or more into the NBA’s Orlando experiment. Those family members have to follow the same health protocols — regular coronavirus testing, wearing a mask in public, etc. — that the players do.

It’s a lot, but the league wants to create a safe environment in Orlando, one where the virus is kept out (and if/when it gets in to be quickly contained). It sees this as the only way to pull off the restart in a state and nation where the number of coronavirus cases is on the rise again as governments open up the economy.

They agreed to play in a bubble for a few months, so deal with it, and move on.

A bear hibernates for 6 months every year. Does not eat or drink and it recycles its own waste. However, as people we can’t even sit still for a few months. It’s senseless. We have the technology to stay in contact with our families instantly and continuously.

The more people you let in the chances of someone getting infected increases.

There is no time for leniency or to let up. Keep things strict and simple, while at the same time having fun, providing great entertainment, and playing basketball at a skillful. Level.

Fight for the 8th seed, and 4-7 seeds are the only games that matter.

Boston vs Nets should be a good one.

Be careful. Caris Levert killed these dudes for 50 in a comeback last time they played, and they can’t stop him in this one.

But Brooklyn is already in the playoffs ..so it might be whatever with them. But Boston is fighting for a good seeding.

hornets are now in 9th
ahead of Wash
without even playing

the bubble should have been all in, or 16 teams straight to playoffs
i dont think CLT would have made the playoffs, but going 9 months without playing basketball is a terrible fate for a team as young as mine (CLT fan here if that wasnt abundantly clear)

for the teams that aren’t in. That way, a trash Washington team doesn’t go. But the race for that 8th spot in the West was close when the season paused, and those West teams that have a shot at it are pretty good teams. There’s 13 teams in the West that have better records than Charlotte/Washington.

He has yet to run any specific plays for Derozan or Rudy, players who can get a mid range shot at any time. So many players are just taking long range shots, leading to the Pels to getting rebounds and going on a fastbreak

Do what you do best.

They were up by 17 at one point. Pels are a terrible team, finish them.

If I see Murrary take another weak ass shot, I tell you. Get Rudy down on that post like earlier. Pel are soft ass shit on defense.
