"Golden State draft or trade"

If they get #1 pick you'd like them to draft- who?

Even if Warriors draft 2nd or 3rd, you think they could rock with the next best player- who is?

Rather they trade the pick straight up for a player or package the pick for one player?

A realistic trade offer that you think the partner will actually consider. Any players you got in mind that a team might be willing to let go?

Knicks get the pick, Jordan Poole, Kevon Looney.
Warriors get Mitchell, Barrett, Ntilikina.

Mitchell is the key acquisition- defense. Barrett- back Klay and Wiggins. Ntilikina back Steph and maybe this team will unlock his potential. If not he'll be a free agent.
All can be future foundations. Tax money might be a little funny.

Knicks will have two lottery picks. Looney isn't overpaid- Gibson, Portis and Harkless could all be gone. Poole is a promising talent.

Not even a fan, just think they're in a unique and interesting position.

Especially when the best player involved for the Knicks would play a position that's already a strength for the Warriors.

They're looking for a player that's going to help them immediately contend, and those three players wouldn't make them a championship caliber team.

Truth is, I don't know if that type of player is going to be available. Giannis isn't going anywhere and Embiid would cost too much and is injury prone to boot.

I'm guessing the keep the pick barring someone pulling a Paul George in the off-season.

I don't remember if Mitchell is labeled as somewhat of a knucklehead (might be mixing him up with someone else).
Think he got in foul trouble a lot though. But I like him more than Barrett.
You think drafting a player, Wiseman I guess, will make them better off than packaging the pick for multiple players?

His rim protection, shot-altering, and finishing are all 100x more advanced than anything Poole has shown in the NBA. And I say this both as a Michigan alum who would take a bullet for Jordan Poole, and as a Knicks fan who believes down to his bone marrow that nothing good will ever come to the Garden again.

THey need a big man badly, so the pick should be James Wiseman. No doubt.

They don’t need to trade because everything they need is in the draft.

Poole, paschall, are all solid scoring options of the bench.

Curry/Thompson/Wiggins/draymond/Wiseman

That is championship potential.

Wel they need a good big man of some kind, and since brooklyn is dead on making Jordan the starter at center, maybe they can get Allen from Brooklyn by trade of the pick. Dude is tenacious on the board and a good defender.

They got six picks in total I think .

The best player in the draft is Lamelo Ball and it’s not even close, but they would have to deal Wiggins to make room for him to play the forward position as a point....

and be right back at the top of the West with Steph, Klay and Dray but I don't see it.

Those '15 and '16 teams were super deep way beyond those guys. Iggy, Livingston, Bogut, Barnes, Barbosa, all those guys were key role players on that 73 win team and they're all gone.

Now they have Wiggins and a bunch of G-league guys.

Unless they flip that #2 pick into a major piece this team is going to struggle.

if he's as advertised he could be a huge upgrade at the 5 over the make shift crews of bigs they've trotted out the last few years.

I have no idea what James Wiseman's real potential is though, outside of looking awesome in youtube highlight clips.

I feel like GSW either goes small ball or goes a goony big who’s only there to set screens on offense and enforce on defense. Granted, I think that’s a role that suits Wiseman... but I doubt that’s all he’d want to do. I think someone like Okoro or even Okongwu could suit their style really well, so they’d prob be better off trading the 2 to move back and add more pieces.

I don’t think they can get a win-now star in this draft... but they can dangle Wiseman or Edwards to a lotto team more desperate for a splashy name that can help build the future.

Like I said above, Giannis isn't going anywhere. Even after the second round flame out. Only way it would happen is if he said, "Trade me to the Warriors. I won't re-sign anywhere else."

But that won't happen. Much more likely Bucks try and bring in more pieces for a potentially final run this season.

With Doc coaching in Philly, there's even less of a chance that they trade Embiid or Simmons.

Any trade would probably have to involve someone who's a borderline all-star with a couple of years left on their contract on a bad team saying, "Trade me now." Not a lot of those out there.

It’s a draft with a really terrible top end but a lot of value throughout in terms of finding role players with some upside. and Golden State’s generally some really well with turning those guys into strong championship roster players.

Even just trying to move back to 4 or 5 to snag someone like Okoro, who maybe doesn’t have the pizzazz upside of Wiseman or Edwards but has a looooooot of potential as a high IQ, two way wing with strength who can inherit the mantle from Dray.

I like what I hear about Wiseman, but I'm not that his strengths are the stuff that you spend the #2 pick overall pick on. So I'm down for the team grooming a #4 or #5 pick. I certainly don't feel like the team should be obsessed with packaging the two picks and Wiggins for "WIN NOW!" solutions. I think we'll be in the mix even without a big trade.

I liked Chriss, put I don't think anyone thinks he's the answer at the five spot. So I get why people think that the Warriors should draft Wiseman.

What we really need is to shore up the bench, but you don't draft for that. That's where free agency comes in and when you try to sign guys who can play the Livingston/Iggy/David West roles. I mean, those are three of the best bench guys that the Warriors have ever had, so it will be tough.

Switchable, high motor, high IQ, hard worker, could learn a lot from Dray-- as I posted in the Justivity thread, I honestly like Okongwu today more than Wiseman, so trading back to something like 8 if Wiseman's on the board to get Okongwu and assets would be, imo, a massive, massive win.

I also really like Okoro for a team that got such good run out of Iguodala. He definitely fits the Iggy prototype (and I'd rather have him than Wiggins, personally), so you could trade back a few spots and give yourself the guy you need that makes Wiggins immediately expendable.

That said, there's also a reason to try to trade to Boston or a different team with multiple picks-- I think there are a number of guys from 20-40 who could probably help ASAP, so if you traded the 2 for multiple later picks, that could certainly help fill out a bench?

Dunno. You're in a good position with lots of options, obviously.

I'd target a pick in the 7-10 range. Multiple teams in that range would be interested I'd assume. Wiseman/Edwards/Ball are pretty good options at top 3 for a young/rebuilding team. I'd try to get Bertans from the Wiz, Kennard/D-Rose/Christan Wood from Det (one or a combo of them), Gibson/Portis/Elf (combo of 2) from the knicks, Oubre from Phx.

Then I'd trade the 7-10 pick to OKC for #25, Steven Adams and Diallo.

One or two of Lee, Paschal, Robinson would likely be gone. Try to hold on to Poole for as long as it makes sense but he'd be expendable too for the right deal.

Curry
Klay/Poole/Diallo
Wiggins/Oubre
Dray
Adams/Looney

Would they be championship level...depends on how klay returns from injury and how much the gel over the season. The consistency of the depth would be a key too. But they'd have enough for a top 3 seed in the West. Could they beat the Lakers?...eeeehhh. Would have to see what Lakeshow's depth looks like. All things being equal to this year, I'd say, hard fought 6 game series loss. Which would be better then every other team in the west did. lol

I dunno why people think the Warriors are just gonna suck with 3 allstars still on the roster.

If Kerr can get Wiggins to do ANYTHING productive and they plug in a defensive/rebounding C...they are basically a competent bench away from being right back near the top of the league.

I personally wouldn't put teams like Utah or Houston above them but hey...could be wrong.

Clippers, Denver, Lakers...possibly.

For some, I can see them discounting them based on recency bias, injuries, and a general lack of the depth they had when they were putting up 2K games on teams, etc

A year out of the playoffs, some rest, and some roster tweaking though, and I think they're back in the mix.

My guess is Wiggins is gone with the #2 before the season starts.

But I'm also a person who thinks Wiggins will never figure it out, save for maybe the odd 10-15 game stretch where he gets lucky with his jumper. So maybe I'm not the person to comment.

I like Wiggins but I don’t see him as a good fit either with the Warriors style of offense

...to GS during the off-season. Besides the three all-stars, they play a style of ball where everyone eats and Curry has zero ego about other players looking good. Guys like playing for Kerr. Very competent front office that takes care of player when they want to stick around. Geographically, it's a good destination. It's not like they'd have to sell people on living in Utah.

There's no reason they wouldn't be able to make moves on be in the mix next year. The Lakers, the Clippers, the Nuggets, and the Jazz are all going to be very good. I have no reason to believe the Rockets are going to magically make it to the next level, especially since they mortgaged the future with those trades. Portland might not be going away, but I don't see them making the big leap either. Mavs are on the rise, but minus a big trade, aren't ready yet.

In response to Reply # 36

You said that the Warriors had more than three All-Stars five years ago. What they had were good bench players and veterans that knew their role. And those type of players are still going to be out, looking for places to sign. And the Warriors are an attractive option. Off the top, there's already talk of mutual interest between Howard and the Warriors.

I've said multiple times in this post the big name signings and/or trade likely aren't going to happen. What's more likely is drafting well and restocking the bench. That happens, and I don't see why this team isn't in the mix.

It actually makes more sense for them to run it back.
They have 14 first round draft picks that will cover the next six drafts. You can only
stockpile so much.
