When I first heard about it , I thought he hit a female officer on the butt as an action of celebrating the LSU win, and then it got exaggerated.

I saw the video, and a 50 to 60 something year old male officer bends over. This strangely catches odell’s Attention. He puts something down, backs up and looks at the ass, and then smacks it. He immediately backs up as the officer turns around.

Not sure if he was messing around, or there is some underlying fixation.

To me, that’s not a simply battery after watching the video.

the cop pressing charges and people actually cheering it while Cuban B-ing Edelman's vandalism is a sign of the tasty boot syndrome.

I don’t know about much ado about nothing.

But I would sue and possibly press charges if it were me. I thought it was just a sports pat. That dude concentrated on that and fully slapped that guy’s ass.

All I saw was a 16 sec clip so I'm not gonna sit here and presume to know how this situation shouldve or could've been handled, what the rules/laws are, who is giving orders to whom and what exactly those orders were, etc. I suggest you not make assumptions either. That's the *only* common sense approach in this situation. Sometimes there is context/details we're not entirely privy to.

LSU issued a mandatory rule, that smoking is not allowed in the locker room.

He was enforcing that rule. Imagine if he just allowed the players to smoke, and it was recorded, surely he would have gotten fired for that.
