He missed 122 games between ages 21 and 23 and played in a dumpster fire instead in one of the best developmental organizations in the NBA. *shrug*

And Barnes is *still* a player that, outside of one good season at GSW (2015) has had terrible +/-, terrible VORP, and stats that suggest he is what he is: a no-pass average shooter and a mediocre defender.

So, yeah. Barnes is better today. And MKG was always the player with the higher ceiling.

Boston is 17-6 so far this year.

Are you ready to admit that Kyrie just isn't a franchise player but more of a good complimentary guy. Good Robin and 'maaaybe' a decent 1b if a generational talent is next to him?

You know, since you're using stats to justify sh*tting on Barnes when MKG has been a colossal disappointment in the NBA. Even back when, he came in with a broken J, injury-proneness and his major upside was rebounding/defense. And none of it paid off.

Mark Price couldn't even fix his shot.

Barnes has been a better pro in every way and if we were being honest back then, he had the better long term outlook regardless of where MKG landed team-wise. And you can blame the Hornets as much as you like but MKG could have left after his rookie deal if he felt he was being under served in the developmental department. But he didn't because he couldn't stay on the court long enough to command top dollar as a FA so Jordan gifted him 13 mil/yr.

But cool...MKG had a brighter upside.

>But cool...MKG had a brighter upside.

You take in the NBA Draft the player with the greater upside. You take MKG over Barnes. There will be more presently skilled players in this year's draft taken behind guys with better upside. Wasn't complicated then, isn't complicated now.

And I said Barnes is better today. MKG looks cooked, and Barnes is still more or less the same guy he's been the last few years. That's true too. And I said that. Not sure why people think I'm not saying that, when I wrote precisely those words, lol.

Gonna Cuban B all the deflection shit, because then I'd just deflect to something else unrelated to this post, and it'd spin out.

If Barnes was obviously better than MKG, why was MKG not only the #2 pick in the draft but a consensus top three pick in every mock that year? Why was MKG drafted five spots ahead of Barnes if Barnes was always the better player?

Because, in 2011/2012, MKG was not only the higher upside player, he was the better player. He was consensus second team All-American (Barnes wasn't even consensus third team), and he was the second most important player on a title team while Barnes was the third most important player at best on an Elite Eight team-- I doubt any UNC fan would claim Barnes was more important to that team than Zeller or Marshall.

Barnes has always been a better shooter than MKG, that's a given. But he wasn't better than MKG at anything else in college. So add on *top* of that MKG's superior athleticism and upside? Of course MKG was the better pick in everyone's eyes at the time.

This isn't even agenda stuff-- I'm surprised this is even controversial.

So you're arguing that MKG, the higher draftee, was a
more highly rated prospect than Barnes and that it was
warranted at the time?

Is that what all this is about?

Jesus H. Christ.

That's why Truth made it. Barnes still useful, MKG a towel waiver for Devonte Graham.

Your response to the walk down:

"And Barnes is *still* a player that, outside of one good season at GSW (2015) has had terrible +/-, terrible VORP, and stats that suggest he is what he is: a no-pass average shooter and a mediocre defender.

A) Barnes is terrible statistically (while not pointing out how terrible MKG is at all)
B) Lobbing upt the 'MKG was always the player with the higher ceiling'. Was always? No. Was, before they actually played in the NBA, yes. That ship sailed real fast once they started their careers.

You coulda skipped all the backhanded passive aggressive UNC spice and just said, "I don't like Harrison Barnes and UNC sucks."

I would respect that more.

P.S. Kyire is a fake franchise player.

Yeah, because he thinks his original post, made without watching college basketball at all, showed he was right, when (a) it's draft revisionism, and (b) it ignores all circumstances.

I said Barnes is better.

>A) Barnes is terrible statistically (while not pointing out
>how terrible MKG is at all)

I shouldn't have to. I said Barnes is better, so if Barnes is terrible statistically, then MKG must be worse.

>B) Lobbing upt the 'MKG was always the player with the higher
>ceiling'. Was always? No. Was, before they actually played
>in the NBA, yes. That ship sailed real fast once they started
>their careers.

They had fairly similar rookie seasons, and then MKG started getting hammered with injuries. So yes, once MKG missed over 100 games ages 21-23, that absolutely lowered his ceiling. No question there.

>You coulda skipped all the backhanded passive aggressive UNC
>spice and just said, "I don't like Harrison Barnes and UNC
>sucks."
>
>I would respect that more.

This is absolute horseshit and you know it. I praised Coby White. I praised Cam Johnson. I turned around on Justin Jackson after his incredible last season. I thought Reggie Bullock would be a valuable pro (he is). I thought Brice Johnson would be a valuable pro (he isn't).

So yeah. You're mistaking me for someone else. You're *right* that I think Harrison Barnes is an empty stat player. But it has nothing to do with him coming from UNC, and you of all people should know that's not how I post. Get the fuck outta here with that.

To be fair, that covert war was with Basa but you jumped all in my post trying to OctavioPaz my intent.

Yes, you don't blindly hate UNC. My statement was a sarcastic joke. Yet still, this post ain't about who was right pre-pro ball. It's a retroactive look back and call to carpet of who's had the better career.

Barnes.

Yes, MKG had injuries but even before the injuries, he didn't look 'that' promising. And he tore a labrum and had a stress fracture in his foot. He has fully healed from both but never got any better. Why?

And since he's been healthy (even played 81 and 74 games in back to back seasons) he hasn't sniffed being better than Barnes. He's actually regressing.

Nigga, you shat on Jordan and a back to back MVP who won titles. Fuck your arbitrary rules on who's beyond get back. Kyrie still on the grill. Yeah, you talked him up as being a franchise player. He not. He will never be the best player on a title winning team. Your exact words were "he's showed up at every step" but he didn't last season and he's not this year.

Longo made it his business to jump into a convo about Kyrie not being a franchise player to defend his bullshit team success track record sans LeBron.

>kyrie showed he can be transcendant when it matters. that's
>enough.

Robert Horry showed up when it mattered too. Wasn't a franchise player.

>rose never showed it. he was trash in the playoffs when

Kyrie hid behind LeBron a seized a moment. When the spotlight was on him, he folded in the second round.

>nico mannion better than cole. thought that be fore season

Great. I'm happy for you. Kyrie still a fake franchise player and no diversion change that, ring or no ring.

We ain't gotta talk about it no more. I accepted that W. That's why I didn't respond after your last post. I understand your hurt feelings behind having to admit that though. So I accept this misplaced vitriol.

But since you refuse to walk into the sunset with his HOF resume...

Watch how petty I be if he and Durant don't win one.

Spoiler - They won't.

But people always want to redraft based on how players are today, when at the time, MKG was indisputably the right pick there. Not a mock in the world, not a GM in the league had Barnes over MKG on their board.

We all know where I voted. We can cut and paste what I said in the original post and put it here...

MKG a better player. But has been hit with injuries that have severely impacted the way he plays, his time on the court, and development. He’s also had numerous coaching changes.

When he was at his best, he’s better.

Hopefully he gets traded to a competitive team and gets to show his game.

Harrison is a limited average player. He doesn’t help you win. He’s just a guy who’s out there.

Also cost the Dubs a championship.

In response to Reply # 13

>When he was at his best, he’s better.

And if Harrison costed the W's a title, he sure didn't hurt them getting there. MKG costed the Hornets relevancy and various playoff appearances if we are measuring by this BS.

I can admit Harrison Barnes might receive a compliment in being called average because I don't suffer from delusion.

It's amazing how you dudes can see something clear as day, but still won't admit it. Barnes has always been the better pro and he went to a team where he was 4th in the pecking order. MKG was 1st or 2nd fiddle from the outset and just never was what y'all thought he was.

and I remember typing the second he was drafted by the Warriors that it was a good place for him to land. there was some skepticism @ the time. My rationale was that @ the time, a team where they didn't need a "Tweener" Savior was the best thing for SouthBerkeleyMan

I didn't realize how much I'd be hating that.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.
