Football players have no choice, but I hope basketball players really stick to the ncaa
And start playing ball in Australia, etc, that way they don’t have worry about this nonsense.
Coaches making millions and getting illegal kickbacks from athletic companies.
Ncaa making billions from ticket sales, tv contracts, advertising , and merchandise sales.
But college players? Here kid here is a 150,000 scholarship, but you can’t work, you can’t receive endorsements, and you can’t get paid for your image and likeness.
This is huge labor and capital disparity. This is why northwestern players were trying to unionize. The NCAA sold you this illusion of amateur and college sports, but players are providing labor on and off the field just like NFL players. The only difference is age and experience, so it’s a junior and senior level, but that does not change the fact that labor is being provided. It’s like tennis, with their junior and senior levels. The only difference is the level, but all get paid and bring in endorsements
College player’s Scholarship does not even equate to 1 percent of what the ncaa is generating in revenue. NFL players get no less than 47 percent of the nfl’s revenue.
I would have it where players couldn’t receive no more than 25000 freshmen year, 50000 sophomore year, and 100,000 junior /senior year for endorsements. . And there would be payouts for bowl appearances and receiving awards.
