He was destroying Paul Milsap.

Gentry is a genius. He put Ingram at the 4 to take advantage of the
Huge mismatch. He is faster than power 4s, using his speed, length,
And quickness to get whatever shot that he wants.

All the while being able to switch to guard 3s while Hart has the ability to switch over
And guard 4s.

Light skin Durant. And he is becoming deadly from all ranges.

If the lakers don’t get at least 2 rings, that deal will be a bad deal. It’s a bad deal anyway on age alone.

And Ball? They are really going to regret that one. His passing and getting everyone is effortless. That one touch pass off the ally-oop. ?

Lol i think the Lakers will be fine knowing they've got prime Anthony Davis for nearly a decade.

But damn that's an awful lot of praise heaped on a 1-4 team.

From your response, I already know you have not watched a single pelicans game.

The lakers will not have Anthony Davis for a decade. I would put a house note on that. He is a 26 year old highly injury prone big man. He has yet to complete a season without missing a significant amount of games, and now he is dealing with a shoulder injury. Laker were up by 20 the other game and he was still out on the court playing.

He is skillful and of this world . He reminds me so much of Hakeem with his fast feet and great foot work as a big, and he used to be a guard, so no big man can guard him.

Brandon is 22 years old, and he is currently averaging. 27 ppg , 10 rebs and 6 dimes. He is going to be around for close 2 decades possibly.

What have we learned over the years regarding bigs and wing players? ....wing players always win in the end.

Jordan/Bowie
Durant/Oden
Possibly Zion/ Barret

And now there is Ingram/ Davis:....no doubt in my mind Ingram is going to win this one.
Wing players always win.

I have watched the Pels - and they are fun as hell to watch. Can't wait for Zion to come back.

BI has looked to be ready to take the next step - but can he be *the* guy leading a team to be competitive for a title? That's the praise you've heaped onto him that he'll have to live up to - and he needs to start now after having 3 full years to develop in the league - already in his 4th year.

You're insane to compare Davis to Bowie & Oden. AD has *already* proven to be a hall-of-fame talent and he's got 4 more seasons in his 20's.

I’m comparing them health wise. The fact that I have to explain that to you is a problem.

Wing players always out last bigs in the nba. That was my point. It’s not about skill.
Oden was skillful and dominant, but his body failed him.

Bowie body failed him
Oden body failed him
We are seeing it with Zion... who do we take morant, rj or Zion?

I was like we have been down this rode so many times. Wings always out last bigs.
And Brandon Ingram is no different.

even Kobe won over Shaq! Shaq got old and slow quick and they traded him to Miami. And the lakers won 2 more rings

Ingram is 22! Jordan didn’t become a champion until close to his 30s , same thing with Durant . He is way way ahead of schedule. Hell this is when most college players enter the league. He came out after his freshman year.

Always remember : Wing players always win! So when AD breaks down, and it’s going to happen, remember this post.

and I legit don't care, but KD himself was the one who made the comparison...maybe that's why he's using it. Obviously, BI is not going to become the most deadly scoring machine the league has probably ever seen...but, c'mon.

They look similar. Very few players are physically like KD or Ingram - 6'10, skinny, LONG arms....their builds are nearly identical.

And that's where it ends.

Durant compared BI to himself.

So what you think is irrelevant. Like your perception is all that matters , and
Durant himself made the comparison. So I guess you know more than Durant, champ.

He is 22.

And that wasn’t said about AD putting up numbers on a losing ass pelicans squad.

You guys really need to stop with the double standards or agenda crap.

You can tell yourself whatever you want. This boy is averaging close to 30/10/6...fucking Bird numbers at the age of 22!

Think about this if he avg that for the season, which would be close to the same numbers that AD avg, and he is making power forwards look like shit

The true test will be the spurs and clippers. If he still get those numbers?

Mannn

Like I said if the lakers don’t get at least 2 rings. That trade is an L

but my question is still if he can be effective when the offense isn't running through him?

and if the offense is running through him, can he make enough plays to help his team win other than when his shot is dropping / has his shot gotten more consistent?

I must be wrong if I'm agreeing with thatruth, but I don't think he's trash, I just don't know if he helps a team win enough

At least he was that way in LA. But can he do it on a team when he has to be the star? And can he do it on a team with expectations?

Granted this start is the only time he's really shown he is capable of growing into that player so time will tell.

Personally, I could see him growing into a good #2 to a #1 who didn't need the ball alot to generate their offense. Like you got at, he doesn't quite have a set of skills to meaningfully contribute when his role isn't tailored to his skillset. If he managed to figure that out, he could be part of a team with a real chance at high-level success.

I'm trying not to get too geeked off a hot five game streak, but this is absolutely in line with what he was doing before he went out last year.

To that end, I think hes shown enough to be genuinely excited right now. I'm a visiting Pels fan as long as he and Zo are there.

You do understand what a "range" is, yes?

Yes, I think that, at his peak, he'll be at least as good as some version of PG/JB.

That isn't the same as saying he'll be at least as good as the best version of those guys. His "floor" is that category of player, I think. I could be wrong, and time will tell.

But yes, I think he has MVP candidate potential, but I didn't say that's his floor. I raise that you're not one for nuanced thinking though, which is why you went straight to peak PG as your response.

I'm talking about BI.

I don't see how you concluded that the statement that Ben is better than BI for the time being somehow means Ben would remain stagnant.

I'm not Basa. I don't give two fucks about winning an agenda, and I don't feel a need to denigrate another player to cast "my guy" in a better light.

I'm jealous of Ben's start, relative to BI. I just don't think that start means that BI won't inch ahead or keep pace at some point, and my belief in BI's potential to do that means only that I think he has immense potential, not that Ben will somehow stagnate in his present form.

Slightly different phrasing, but yes, I think Jimmy Butler, as an overall player, is his floor.

BI is a volume scorer and needs a lot of touches. Not a great defender, not a lights out shooter (even from the line) - and not a guy who has shown he can excel in a third-wheel role.

Kuz was far more impressive/consistent last year - and proved to be a better system player.

he's an efficient scorer and he'd be the best perimeter defender on the lakers right now. he's improved from 3 and at the line.

55. "I'm going by facts and the sample-size of BI/KUz w/ Bron"
In response to Reply # 54

Kuz is a much better player off the ball with Bron. He doesn't have to dominate possession to be effective. Last year w/ Bron, Ingram's touch time before a shot was at least two seconds on 65.7 percent of his attempts. In contrast, Kuzma typically takes less than two seconds (63 percent). Also ~27.5% of Ingram's attempts came after at least six seconds of ball-handling.

Ingram needs to be more ball-dominant to be effective, whereas Kuz has developed into a touch and shoot player/moves effectively/slashes and creates passing angles for the greatest passer in the game.

When paired with Bron - Kuzma consistently was the more effective pairing in virtually all measurable statistics, and it was pretty clear just a few months into the season:

https://clutchpoints.com/los-angeles-lakers-forward-kyle-kuzma-is-evolving-in-a-legitimate-no-2/

>he's an efficient scorer and he'd be the best perimeter
>defender on the lakers right now. he's improved from 3 and at
>the line.

Even if this turns out to be true - it wouldn't be because of what Ingram proved as a Laker. He is taking a huge step forward thus far this year, but it's still a small sample size on an abysmal 1-6 team. Ingram was not a great defender by any stretch of the imagination his first 3 years in L.A. - shot free throws in the 60's - and didn't play off the ball all that well. Bad recipe when matched with LeBron.

B.I. may very well turn into the better individual player when compared to Kuzma - but Kuzma is likely the better fit for a team dominated by LBJ & AD.

good luck slowing down kawhi and PG and Lou without a long armed athlete, who just happens to be capable of getting you an easy 25 and initiating offense for himself and other, giving bron much needed rest...kinda like Ky did.

There is no answer for the Clipper wings - just as there's no answer for the Bron/AD pick and roll and Bron penetrate and dish out to shooters. But the Laker defense has been exceptional so far with elite rim protection - so the Clippers better hit *all* their jumpers to beat the Lakers in a 7 games series.

Ky was a great complement to Bron with the ability to take over games and give Bron needed rest. AD can be the same kind of player, albeit in a different way. Going to AD in the post creates all types of spacing and you have to decide whether to double or allow him to eat your guy up one on one on the block. That's a new luxury for LeBron and is gonna serve him well in this latter stage of his career.

I actually watched the game almost from start to finish, the “watched games" angle is from like 10-15 years ago, you don't have to pay for league pass to watch games outside of your area in 2019 lol

I think it's unknown if he can win games as a primary option, and with NO not at full strength maybe they can answer that when they've got everyone back.

for the pelicans, this might be the best possible thing, to showcase him and maybe be able to trade him. I just don't know if he fits with zion, but we'll see soon

Ingram wasn't effective as a third option (even a second option) for L.A. As a first option with a green light and no expectation of winning (N.O. is 1-6) - it's pretty easy to fill up a stat sheet if you have Ingram's talent. It's an entirely different thing to do that on a winning team when you're asked to complement guys better than you.

>And when Anthony Davis comes back to Chicago soon! Y’all
>really going to be heated.

lol except that this isn't going to happen.

Lakers are *infinitely* better precisely because they dealt BI & co. to N.O. for AD.

On the real, lakers bench and green and Caruso cant handle the rock. coby stripping big time

Backcourt of Dunn and Coby is ruthless on defense. I really like Coby at the 2, so Dunn can focus on the point and coby can score and d . Caruso getting ate.

Inside, outside, defense.

This is more than a breakout year. He does something that Durant does not do, he has the ability to play lights out defense ( learning from true ).

Stuffed melo the other day

And today he gave every single player on the Suns the business.

Lol lakers fans ..just couldn’t wait.

if you say the words "MVP" along with Brandon Ingram at this point, you should be drug tested immediately like Danny Green after that dunk

He is averaging 25/8/5, shooting 51% and 45% from 3. Those are MVP like numbers and are definitely all nba and allStar numbers. And he looks to play top defense.

Clippers have won 4 of their last 5 games, where they beat the clippers.

MVP race is:

Giannis
Luka
Lebron
Harden

But right now I would definitely put Brandon in honorable mention. He has given everyone the business whether his team wins or loses.

He faces the clippers and lakers next week as well as Utah. It doesn’t get any tougher than that.

He will have to guard Kawhi or George and lebron. If he gets numbers on this road trip, against mvp candidates. The talk will be for real.

In response to Reply # 0

The outcomes of their recent drafts - Randle, Russell, Ingram, Ball, Hart, and Zubac - turned out pretty solid. A top 3 of Ingram, Russell, and Randle would be solid, actually more than solid.

For as much as Bron changed the course of the franchise and it's a move that you do ten out of ten times, it might have been better for the team, long-term, to let Bron go elsewhere and build on the core of the drafted players.

But likely they all wouldn't have developed into the players they are now, with all of them on the same team. Russell and Ingram are both high usage players and who knows if they would complement one another.

Lakers fans could dream tho.

DLo had an inefficient fluke AS appearance and now we gotta act like he a star. he aight, but he off the bench for a contender.

He dropped 50 already and was their leading scorer until he fractured his thumb.

Next year shit is going to be insane for the warriors and DLo will be starting , because these young players are crazy good.

Next year : curry, dlo, Thompson, green , Cauley stein

Bench: (insane) : berg, paschall, spellman, Chriss

And if golden state Fock around and get the number 1 draft pick, which is a possibility because they will be a lottery team....they will get Wiseman.

My main point was that these players all blossomed after they left LA.

He may be a 'star' or just a developing player, but he's turned into a much better player than it seemed he would be when he left LA.

As a more complete offensive player, I would say hell yes.

However, Ben Simmons’ ability to make other people better and his defense, as well
As being a complete floor general makes him a very important player.

One of the best defensive teams in the league. He is turning into an efficient assassin.

Once he learns how to impose his will on games to get wins, it’s going to be over

Next up. LA.

You don’t watch games. It’s very rare for Utah to give up that many points and the pelicans battled to the end . They are very a young team so of course they are bad. And
You would have to be blind to deny the fact this kid is balling and tuning into an unstoppable player.

Regular season records mean nothing, which teams like the clippers don’t care about. Also don’t pay attention the lakers record but how they are winning . No doubt they are in first.

But they won by one point against a very bad , very young Memphis team who had them on the ropes. Morant and that entire team was way faster than the lakers and LA need every ounce of energy to beat them. They won by 1 point in the last seconds

Before that, back to back games against OKC , another bad bad team, where the lakers gave up like 127 points in both games and needed the final seconds to win . You Saw it against Dallas as well. They are working very very hard to beat bad teams.or young teams.

Now when they play teams like the clippers and raptors, they lose, so there is that.

Now look at the clippers, they are like what 11-5, but they have beaten the top teams in the nba: Celtics, Lakers, Rockets. And they did it without playing well and players basically resting the first three quarters . Lou Williams had zero points in the first half of that win against the rockets, but finished with 26 points.

Again no doubt lakers are in first , but underneath there are some issues that will not translate well against the top teams in the league as we are seeing when they play them.

We shall see . Long season and it’s going to be fun.

In response to Reply # 0

They were putting PG on Brandon at times, and PG’s offense suffered because of it. One thing I like about the pelicans they play hard every night. Was 88-80 at one point , but clips are the clips.

24/8/5.

Has yet to have one game under 20 points this season.

Lakers up next.

He always showed flashes - especially after the AS break last year - but now he’s changed his shot profile with a very good three point shot, confidence, and rhythm that has opened his game up completely.

Love seeing him prosper.
