"College Football Playoff Scenarios and Predictions "

Wisconsin vs Ohio State is a very serious game. And OSU has more to lose.

Since the Badgers let Illinois hang around, leading to an upset, and their Playoff chances are dead. So OSU is going in as a strong favorite. However if they lose this game, that’s a wrap, because the loss would be an unsexy loss. To lose against Wisconsin which lost to a bum ass Illinois, would sorta kill their playoff chances.

Notre Dame who has the sexiest loss to me, losing to Georgia by 7 points , a game they could have won. While Georgia did lose to SC, SC played Florida tough as hell. So that scenario works in ND’s favor if they win out, and OSU, sooners or Clemson lose down the road.

Bama is going to win out, and I think the sooners will win out. LSU is dead because they are going to have to face bama. And Clemson, I feel, is going to catch a L up the road.

Bama
Sooners
OSU
ND

Or

Bama
Sooners
Clemson
ND

OSU is massive and looks unstoppable, but I think Clemson or OSU is going to catch
a loss allowing Notre Dame to get in.

All of this will go to shit if Michigan beats ND. But it’s Harbaugh, so ND should be good.

ND's chances are slim bordering on none. And Oregon would be in before them if they win out. ND would need a lot of help. They're not getting props for losing to a struggling UGA team who could very well lose to florida in a few weeks.

>Bama is going to win out. LSU is dead because they are going to have to face bama.

I feel like we're watching 2 different sports. How can LSU be dead?

And we dont even know if Tua is playing or will be anywhere near 100%.

It’s not even remotely close to what could happen given how the committee looks at wins and losses.

.. and yes, I’m aware the committee seems to make up a new rule each year to get 2 SEC teams in or excludes a deserving one loss team.

Dude stop. Oregon ain’t getting in if both Notre Dame and Oregon win out. Mariotta era is dead. No one is thinking about Oregon. Oregon is ranked 11th. Not even in the top 10. Notre Dame = dollars and viewers.

Come on , we all know how it is going to end for LSU because it always ends like that.

Telling you, if clemson, sooners or OSU lose, ND wins out, ND is getting in.

That’s my prediction.

That Georgia loss the SC can’t be rescued unless UGA wins out.

Bama is probably going to lose to LSU. Bama hasn’t been tested yet even though Tennessee had a chance early. One thing Bama struggles with is defendig the vertical pass.

Bama ain’t losing to LSU. Ain’t happening. Tua had the rope surgery, will be back in a
Week.

We all know the destiny for teams like Florida , LSU, PSU, etc

It will come down to the following like the past five years:

Bama
Clemson
OSU
Sooners
Notre Dame

LSU could never hang with Bama bc they couldn't get in the zone one time. and they usually only needed one TD to even beat Bama.

they are the best offense in college right now - perhaps not as efficient as Oklahoma, but I think the LSU receivers are better as a group.

my 4 preferred teams to see in the playoff, in no order are

Ohio State
LSU
Bama
Clemson

Clemson doesnt deserve a lot of the shit they're taking. until they lose they don't have much to prove to anyone at this point

ideally, LSU beats Bama, and then destroys Florida/Georgia in the SEC title game, and there isn't any doubt in the Big10 or ACC. Bama gets the nod bc of their rank all season and only losing to LSU.

edit: it does hurt to leave Oklahoma out, bc Hurts is one of my favorite players the last couple years and i generally like Oklahoma as a program and their coach. but to me LSU is the better team and i think defensively they can hang with the other 3. Oklahoma as usual is suspect on defense

I see no way an undefeated OU gets left out over a 1 loss bama

We shall see about LSU. They have to get past Auburn first, then play Bama the following week.

That's a lot of tough, hard playing.

As far as Clemson goes, they have the weakest schedule of the entire top 10.

They have not played anyone, and have yet to play a ranked team. Their last game will be against South Carolina. Plus their QB is suspect. If they lose to SC ...they are out due to a weak ass strength of schedule.

He has twice as many interceptions right now then he had all of last season as a freshman ,and he has three multi interception games this season.

Not even close to being the hesiman candidate that he was projected to be.

No way the committee doesn’t have a Bama Oklahoma game if both make it. The story is too good.

IMO the Buckeyes are still a bit suspect since they haven’t played anyone yet. The should beat Wisky and Michigan easily tho. UM will find a way to shit the bed again. I’m hoping PSU can give OSU a fight this year.

I really don’t see how Bama and LSU make it tho.. one has to fall out of the playoffs unless these other teams start losing.

Should be fun to watch.

>fall out of the playoffs unless these other teams start
>losing.

after the pass they got in 2011, anything is possible

and actually quite plausible:

- Clemson and Ohio State win out
- Oklahoma and Texas both lose before the Big 12 title game
- LSU wins out
- Bama has one loss, a tight-game against LSU

1. LSU
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. bama has the shadow committee give them the edge over Big 12 champ, who would have two losses

Well, that’s a wrap for my beloved ND even if they beat Michigan because Ohio State ( second favorite team) is getting in, even with a loss down the road because they are so dominant.

Can only hope for Clemson to lose or sooners

They have been the most dominant team this year.. should be number 1

Seems the Sooners are about to go down.

LSU
Bama
Ohio State
Clemson

That’s the playoff right now. Hopefully Auburn can beat LSU.

And Notre Dame has to win.

but still get in because the Big 12 and Pac 12 suck this year.

That’s the only way I see Bama going in. I doubt they put in 2 sec west teams. With that said, they’ve put Bama in before without a sec chip.

just thinking about other scenarios. Georgia can get back in the convo if they win out. they have auburn and fl coming up. I can see 2 from the sec, but just don't see two from one division, if lsu beats bama.

you're right that they'd likely get the nod rather than the big 10 champ.

Hilarious. They basically give up 50 points. They play one good school a year. Not big on LSU being number 1 . Their defense gave up big points as well.

Gophers in at number 7. These cats might be serious.

Big ten has seven teams in the top 25. Should be 8. I would put Illinois in their.

I wouldn’t want to face them right now. This is like the greatest record in their school’s history. May never see it again.

However, they have to play Iowa in Iowa, so that is going to be tough, then they have to play Wisconsin. If they get through that? I would put them in over Alabama and every other team with 1 defeat.

No way should Georgia be in the top 4. They lost to an unranked team and They struggled against Notre Dame, who got blasted by Michigan. Not a big Oregon fan,
But they should be number 4. Their one loss was against Auburn.

SEC bias needs to fuck off.

Oregon is done.

Utah and Oklahoma still have life.

OSU
LSU
Clemson
Georgia

OSU has a tremendous test ahead of them, Michigan is possibly playing the best football by any college team..and I’m a huge Shea Patterson fan. He reminds me of Rogers they way he can extend plays and throw from all angles. I rank him higher than Burrows who is more of a pocket passer, and doesn’t really reflect how the ability position is changing in the NFL.

It might be mad tough.

not a stan for either, but Burrow has about 300 more rushing yards the past two seasons than Patterson

And Joe Burrows has way more sacks in the past two years

58 sacks to Patterson’s 41.

That’s the one that matters. Burrow is more of the sitting duck. Rushing yards for QB does not tell the picture of a good scrambler to keep the play alive to pass.

Rodgers rushing yards don’t stand out at all, but he uses his legs to keep the play alive, which is what Patterson does. So he does not get sacked a lot.

Burrows will try to stand in the pocket and get sacked at times, and I think LSU uses and if the defense has all of his receivers covered, he will get rushing yards. But when He is under pressure and has to extend the play to avoid the sack, nowhere as good as Shea

Burrows is moving up the field when he runs, players like Rodgers and Patterson are evading defenders, staying behind the line of scrimmage to pass. Side to side runners.

Patterson is the way better play extender to avoid the sack or loss of yards.

Burrows stats have increased so much this year it’s like dude is a whole new QB.

Average completion yard jumped from 7.3 to 10.3 yards

Sacks down from 35 to 23

Passing TD’s jumped from 16 last year to 41 and counting

Completion percentage went from 58 to 79 percent.

.....

Patterson has looked much better these last few games but their offense was awful the first half of the season.

Someone obviously doesn’t like LSU.

The past 2 years is when both really took over as starters for their schools, both being transfers.

And had you been paying attention before jumping into the conversation, the poster used the past 3 years as a sample size. That’s why I used the last 2 years because it is more of an example of their careers as starters. Know the shot first before responding.

And why would anyone just use one year when they have been starters for multiple years?

And even this year he still has more sacks then Shea. So 1, 2 years, etc, joe gets sacked the most because Shea is the better play extender and it is not close.

Which was the point of the conversation about Shea being better than joe at extending plays.

So you have no point at all.

Basically the same four I’ve had since LSU/Bama. The first three are all in if they win one of their next two. Georgia could screw it up for Bama, but that offense isn’t beating LSU. Oklahoma just hasn’t been impressive enough to displace Bama and the committee ain’t takin Utah over the Tide.

And what Michigan just did to a good Indiana team.

Michigan is rolling and has been that way since the Penn State game where a lot of people felt the outplayed PSU. They took that momentum and turned it around and a lot of it has to do with the play of Shea.

It’s like Tom Brady, who was an avg QB at Michigan and a backup to Bledsoe. No one was big on him at all. So you never know. I just think the way Shea plays QB will translate really well in NFL.

At the end of the day all we can do is speculate because we have no idea of what a player is going to turn into.

We shall see.
