Like... I don't think he's played sustained basketball since... what, April 2017? He already fell from top 2 to 14th due to health concerns, and his current marketplace value is *very* low. He can't really afford to keep missing time, regardless of calf size.

but the talent was evident.

*if* he's healthy and can stay that way they have something, but you're not wrong, his body is weird

I had the same thoughts

His jumper is WET

But it looks like the time lost is not just a setback but a regression physically

He's probably closer to being in high school senior shape

than nba rookie shape

I hope DEN brings him along slow

They are loaded and don't really need to give him big minutes

Really didn't care for him staring down the bench after hitting a shot

Commentators were saying he talks alot too

He needs to STFU and get to work.

Like, you can build strength as you go if you've got the skill. I don't think his muscle mass is related to the back problems he's had.

Yes, he's literally in worse shape

I'll leave it to the OkayScouts that have been hyped on dude since 7th grade or whatever

But I haven't seen him play until last night

So you tell me...is he capable of putting up 20ppg in the league

Going to win a scoring title next year

?

Kev didn't suffer a significant injury...TMK...until his 8th year in the league

This kid can't even get on the court...let alone stay on it

Like I said, he's in a great situation in DEN, as they are contenders w/o him

I hope he STFU and works his ass off

Comparing him to Durant in any shape form or fashion is not doing him a favor.

Why else would I bring up Durant? I wasn't bringing him up to compare the strengths of their backs. I felt it was fairly obviously, especially considering your "arm day" title, what I meant.

Michael Porter Jr doesn't look like any high school player I've ever seen in terms of physique, so I think that's a huge cyse. Yes, he's skinny, but no skinnier than guys like Durant or Ingram, who came in and were fine right away because of skill.

He wasn't huffing and puffing up the court either. He was fine and will be fine. Or he won't and he'll get hurt a lot over his career, but I don't think that has to do with his "shape." He's fine there. May just have a shitty gene or two in there for injuries (since his brother is also perpetually hurt).

If we’re talking about health

Sure, guys like Ingram and Durant were rail thin entering the league

...and put in the work to add muscle...

IRT Porter, is adding upper body mass going to resolve his physical issues

I would imagine being top heavy is counterproductive when rehabbing a back injury

As a 6ers fan, consider the journey of Embiid

We didn’t even know if he could play in the league after sitting 2 seasons

and when he did get on the court, the focus was on his physical conditioning/training

Every fall was a game missed in that first season

He’s put in the work to become a professional, but his conditioning is still a question after it looked like he ran out of steam again in the 19’ offs

He also liked to run his mouth and got consistently checked

I’m confident 5 years later he has been humbled to focus on what it takes to win

That’s a lot to ask of young men who have probably been enabled and haven’t heard no their whole life

I’m not familiar with Porter prior to the nba

But I can’t say I saw a young man making those sacrifices

...we shall see...

injuries...sitting out years.... He built up his physique...but now it seems like he's too big....

I'm watching the Lakers right now...and Dwight Howard has really slimmed down.. but he's still big and strong.. post his 2nd back surgery..being more lean is better for him.... Boogie Cuzz was getting too but still got hurt..

just wish Embiid would lean up a bit..

I'll assume he's not going to beef up but focus on conditioning

Maybe he can assemble a game like Dirk's, where he's not banging in the post

From what I have seen

Kid's got an elite jump shot

He can put a career together hanging out on the perimeter or high post turnarounds

Toe may toe, Toe mah toe

agreed, he needs alot more work to get into NBA shape

I think the smart move for DEN is to let him do that off-court for the majority of the season

and then have him in shape to get tick closing out the season and into the playoffs

their bodies looked/look proportional...

maybe it was the black leggings he was wearing, but Porter's lower legs look skinny in an out of proportion type of way... and one of them looked thinner than the other..

I was curious if I was the only person that noticed it watching the game..

either way, youngster should not be rushed into minutes...he's got to fortify his physique to avoid continuing these injuries, and they shouldn't be in a rush to get him minutes....

he's on a team that can afford to do that, so he's in the right place

Fuck that. You drafted him exactly *for* that cockiness. Same with Porter.

But we all know he's a placeholder for MPJ.
