Lloyd once lost 9-6 to pre-Brees Purdue,and lost to worse teams than this Wisconsin team ALL the time. But on the other hand he was like 15-5 vs top 10 opponents.

also...and ive said this from the beginning...the one thing hoke could do was ID/recruit/develop d-linemen. he and Mattison made that group ferocious. now, all his recruits are gone, and the defense has had brain drain where they really couldnt afford it, given the (as you noted) recruiting.

This is a totally different Notre Dame team. They can tackle like crazy, and that offense is moving. Just too many offensive penalties. They have been the better team so far.
crazy thing when they played Georgia in south bend 2 years ago, it was basically an away game, because the stadium was pretty much packed with bulldog fans.....

I've defended Jarrett Guarantano in the past, but he's broken. horrible reads (when his calling card used to be keeping the ball out of danger) and when guys are open, he can't throw an accurate pass even without pressure.

and theres a lot of context missing here
1) id worked out in UMs facilities with Mike Gittleson when i was in high school (98ish), and by the time Barwis was brought in the whole shebang was sorely out of date., especially the approach. Michigan needed what he brought regardless.
2) No one was excited about Gattis the guy. We were excited for the philosophy, which is the right one. But you cant tell me Gattis dialed up the 38 Trap that Mason fumbled on. Or the one Ben Van Sumeren fumbled on a week or two ago. Pretty sure there is some "cross contamination" there.

my post was so simple. mich fans this century have hyped the shit out of a number of coaches as saviors and they come in and do absolutely nothing. replace barwis and gattis with any number of other people and the comparison still stands.

but gattis and the offensive change he was going to bring (they are one in the same) was 100% the fuel behind mich's unworthy preseason hype and rankings.
