I've always despised Parker b/c he's a snake & never worshiped Pop (hasn't done shyt w/o Tim/Kawhi) b/c he has let his stubbornness (borne out of "loyalty"/"corporate" knowledge") get the best of him numerous times but folks see him as infallible.

Pop built an infrastructure for player development & had the ability to manage egos.....although that had to do with him not bringing on board cats with big egos & completely cutting them off if thing turned sour. He would have cut players like Rondo, Butler & Draymond during training camp.

If we are talking about Xs/Os he has been out-coached a handful of times including by Billy Donovan.

WHAT'S GOOD *****? What's REALLY good?!?!????!!! Ha HA!

Probably a historically terrible maneuver, right? I mean he voluntarily walked away from the *defending champions* in his prime THEN orchestrated/influenced all of these moves to stack LAC THEN they lose like *this* (with him playing like shit in game 7 to boot)?

The Decision led to 2 rings.
KD to GSW led to 2 rings.
Big 3 got one.

Kobe/Pau/Nash/Dwight was pretttay bad, but no one left the defending champion to join that shitshow.

Ooof, this is an epically awful look. Especially when Toronto likely repeats if he's still there.

They traded their future away for a window. Which is totally understandable...because the 5 first round picks were essentially for Kawhi and PG...but if it goes sideways, yikes.

With all that said, the first year of the Heat didn't go well either.

Disgraceful.

I agree, in other words.

Still, a really bad look for Kawhi as it stands right now. Will be fascinating to see how they respond next year.

As Kawhi and George could bounce after next season. So if the team has pushed all of their chips in, they really can't afford to go out like this off the rip.

>With all that said, the first year of the Heat didn't go well
>either.

I'd say the key difference is that the Heat had a longer window (could have been even longer if LeBron hadn't decided to go Cleveland). And that the East never really got appreciably tougher for them during those four years. The Pacers got stronger but that's about it. Miami only had to play four series of six games or more in the Conference side of the Play-offs (only two 7 game series).

With the Clippers, it's not going to get any easier next year. The Lakers are the Lakers. Denver could also be conference champs or league champs. Utah, Dallas, and Portalnd are on the rise. Phoenix is getting better. And the Warriors will likely be in the mix again.

..Clown the Clippers all you want about this monumental collapse, but to suggest that this is any heavier than that for Kawhi's legacy is a bit much.

He didn't force his way to Toronto, he was traded there out of spite from a bitter-ass coach that couldn't let go. He went on to show the world what he's capable of, in prime fashion.

*More important than winning a championship in Toronto is the fact that he did it against all odds. We all know Pop tried his best to torpedo Kawhi's plans to return to LA on his own terms. We all knew the Raptors weren't a part of his original plan, but he didn't argue. He simply went out and put in the work while honoring his contract. Win or lose, he still did it on his own terms. He showed the world that the term "loyalty" in professional sports is a farce.

That said, fuck the Clippers LOL.

I didn't say anything regarding how he got to Toronto, firstly. That said, no need to reiterate the context. We know why he left SAS. We know what he accomplished afterward. We all get it.

But to suggest that this doesn't become a meaningful part of his legacy? That's apologist, straight up. Bron will wear '11 forever. Ditto GSW for the collapse in '16. And at least those happened *in the finals*

Another word or two regarding legacy - when we're talking about historical placement, we knock a lot of people for making dumb FA decisions, especially ones that register as anti-competitive. This LAC move definitely ticks the second box (the first is yet to be seen). But in the short-term, when you factor in that he left the defending champs (who probably repeat with him and also made it exactly as far in the 'offs as LAC without him)? For THIS? He HAS to do better.

In short - no one can take away what he's accomplished. That's not what I'm saying at all. But none of that excuses what happened this year, nor should it soften the blow if he fails to deliver going forward.

people seem to.

I think he's good with what he has accomplished, last year was a nice F-U to Pop and San Antonio anything else is gravy. I know people rave about what a "great city" Toronto is but I don't think Kawhi has any regrets about his decision to come to LA.

PG may get swapped for CP3 or somebody but I think Kawhi is good.

he may not have wanted to be in Toronto, but sometimes life will send you down a different path. clearly he didnt value anything they had going over there though because he 100% shouldve stayed, w/ us being the 2nd choice.

you never ever ever pick a loser ass franchise like the clippers. they are who they are for a reason.

in defeat, the Raptors come out as shiny as ever. Kawhi went out with a whimper and now we can see that yes they may have needed him to win a ring, but clearly he needs heavy infrastructure around him like at SA and TO.
