How come no ESPN headlines about someone off the bench who shot bad? How come no dickheads writing snarky thinkpieces for Bleacher Report? No mouth breathers on twitter trying to get their corny little recycled jokes off on anyone?

And Harden missed some games early too. Nobody cared then. Precedent suggests that a bench player MUST be blamed. Preferably one making like 2.5 mill or less.

That said, getting back to the point of the post....the forward coming off the bench and making a minimum salary who was new to the team was still scapegoated for early season losses when Paul or Harden sat out.
So I’m staying focused, and will continue searching for answers on who the new scapegoat should be.

But he was a convenient scapegoat for both the Rockets and for the media to run with. I think it literally started the first time they lost. Lol. The blame was far disproportionate to his role on the team, his length of time on the team, and his play.

If they didn't give him a five-year super max, other teams would have offered the max they could (four years, "regular" max). You can't let a big star walk basically because you, especially as a contender already at or above the cap, have zero chance of landing a replacement.
