"2019 fagency finna flop like shit."

all that hype and half the big guns are already off the board.

kyrie ain't going nowhere. neither is klay. or jimmy.

kawhi, like i said right after the trade, has a good thing going and will more than likely stay put. doesn't really seem like he's counting down the minutes waiting for the opportunity to go carry lebron's luggage.

so that leaves KD as the one legitimate 'chise chip in play. after that you're shopping in the damaged goods boogie cousins aisle, or the kemba/khris "taupe colored housewares" department. color me less than enthused.

knicks/clippers/lakes et al might end up holding the bag.

he's the only one I'm kinda iffy about. I kinda want him to stay in Toronto and someone to join him. Even if he has to LeBron it

Knicks and Clips'll be aight.

Lakers too, but I think they get the housewares at least, if not KD

I think there's a decent shot Klay goes as well if they win their third in four years.

I just don't think you can discount the fact his dad still works for the Lakers and he grew up a Lakers fan.... nevermind the fact he'd be a *perfect* fit next to Lebron with a team that runs the same system run by a coach he loves.

and excel through the regular season - nothing new here.

Not sure how compelling Toronto will be for Kawhi in May - but we shall see. But I actually think Kawhi is the least compelling of the potential grabs for LAL. KD or AD teaming up w/ the Lakers make them a much better team - and neither of them would be carrying LeBron's luggage in L.A. - nor would it be perceived that way.

not that i blame casey for anything that happened prior but you can't really lump this toronto team in with the others.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Demarr Derozan is a 3rd option on a contender. And he's a fine
player.

Kawhi is a finals MVP.

They are worlds apart.

In fact, if Murray isn't hurt, he's soon a better player
than DD, and so DD *might* end up the *3rd* best

He's a FINE player. Having a FINE career.

But he's never been anything more than the third best
player on a really good team.

LOL @ this though

I also think Boogie will get that ring and want more so he's going to go where both the $ and the title opp is there.

Max slots for contender or close to contender teams...who dat?

Also Middleton leaving would surprise me. Kemba could bounce though. I think a few semi-major trades will happen too.

choose earlier than later, because they feel if he walks, they can build around Stef, resign Klay, and throw money at Boogie if KD leaves. Its worth the luxury tax if they threepeat and can keep a nucleus of that level in town.

If KD says, I'ma stay but dude gotta go, Draymond might be gone at the AS break.

Draymond doesn't understand that he is not MJ or Pippen in this equation...he is Grant/Rodman with a Craig Hodges target on his back.

like, it's actually not possible for them to sign him to a big deal next year.

unless I'm wrong and KD leaving gets them under the cap?

seems like it's just...very unlikely

"“Maybe he signs a one-year contract to establish Early Bird Rights, which would allow the Warriors to pay him up to $11,207,700 in 2020, though he could get that much only by signing for at least two years at that point. He could even work toward spending three years with Golden State, which would give him Full Bird Rights and the ability to re-sign for up to the max. Or maybe Durant leaves in free agency next summer, and Thompson is willing to take a massive discount. Then maybe the Warriors could carve out enough cap space to re-sign Cousins to a larger contract.”"

The only thing KD has ever said about free agency is that other people getting supermax deals and he wants one too. Only one place where he's getting that. All the "KD is LeBroning and that's means he's going to leave" is misguided. He's been opting every year to get more money until he's eligible to get a Supermax deal.

On that note, even if he leaves (he won't), the Warriors can't just slide in Cousins in his place. They're way over the cap and don't have his Bird rights. Only way he signs with the Warriors is if he's lousy when comes back this season. Which won't happen. He's gone, no matter what.

Klay can get the most money from the Warriors as well. If he leaves to go anywhere else (which he won't) it'll be for less than what the Warriors can offer him.

Signing KD won't determine whether or not the Warriors sign Draymond after the '19-'20 season. Money will. Or rather, whether they want to pay the massive amount of luxury tax to sign Draymond to a Supermax deal. If KD leaves (he won't), there will be more "pressure" to re-sign Draymond. If KD stays (he will), Myers and the owners will have to decide if they want three Supermax deals on the books when Draymond becomes a free agent.

Said it before, Draymond is my favorite player on the team, but owing him $50 million a year on those final two years of the deal is hefty pill to swallow.

However, if KD leaves (he won't), there will be pressure to sign Draymond to a supermax.

EDIT: Let me add that the Warriors will certainly **have** the money to pay the huge luxury tax bill if they wanted to carry all three. The new stadium and merch sales are their money-printing machines.

If Curry and KD are the max contracts can't another team offer Klay more than GS? Honsetly asking, this shit makes my head spin.

>If Curry and KD are the max contracts can't another team offer

From my understanding, the Warriors can still offer him the most. In the post-"LeBron and Bosh go to the Heat" world, teams can always offer the players that they drafted the most money, even during unrestricted free agency. Especially during unrestricted free agency. So, if Klay is Supermax eligible at the end of the season (he likely won't be) the Warriors could conceivably also offer him a Supermax deal. It all depends on how much they want to pay in luxury tax.

Think of it like Thunder a few years ago. They could have re-signed Harden, but didn't want to pay the huge luxury tax fees they thought it would take to do it.

So, from what I understand, there could be reality where the Warriors we have four players signed to Supermax deals, but I REALLY doubt they'd want to pay the massive amount of money in tax to get it done.

Supermax money was on the table for Bron & Kawhi - they didn't want it and moved on.

Yes - it's obviously a very compelling reason for a guy to sign - but it's not an absolute simple-simon science like some make it out to be. If a player isn't happy - he'll sign elsewhere and make up that money in other areas.

The league is better than its been in a while right now to me. Teams feel more balanced aside from the one outlier with way more talent. I think most non-Warrior fans hope they breakup. I don't necessarily want them joining Bron either cuz that would tip that power. I'd like to see 8 or so teams all with a good chance of winning the title.

the KD injury throws a damper on it and so does kawhi staying (although you lyin' if you were *sure* he was staying before the run). but still plenty of potential movement and a lot of teams have cap space. so if they don't fill it in free agency, that'll stimulate trade activity

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

In response to Reply # 36

Butler declined the Supermax, he could have gotten close to $190M and his deal was in the $142M range, I believe.

Durant could have gotten it from GS, whether he was actually offered or not. Under the circumstances the fifth year alone would have been appealing. Like Butler, he wanted to leave, and with Irving there seemed to be a mutual desire to part ways that averted any discussion of the supermax's appeal.

and now with KD and Kyrie on the same team, the ULTIMATE AGENDA ALIGNMENT is in effect.

Kyrie may be playing at "home" now but the spirit of the Cavaliers and all the hate for the Boston Celtics still burns within.

Not only has this offseason been fucking amazing, IT'S ABOUT TO GET ILL IN HERE (c) J Zone.

Russy likely to move. Potentially other fallout moves from this wild ass sequence, including but not limited to Westbrook, Adams, Lowry, Gasol and Ibama between today and the trade deadline.
