Yes, KD is going to leave the Warriors next season because Draymond made a bad decision at the end of regulation game in November against the Clippers. Sure, that's it.

KD just came out today and said that the Green mashup *did* have something to do with him leaving G.S. - and it was confirmed that G.S. *did* take the public beef seriously, and demanded that Green apologize to KD.

So - once again - you and Mr.Hood were strikingly wrong about this.

Funny, I haven't seen you guys around lately. Everything good?

Curry had to visit Draymond, Boogie had to be the voice of reason lol. KD got disrespected to the highest order - called a "bitch" to his face. We remember what happened last time Draymond did that to somebody (the most historic title/comeback in NBA history).

Let's see how this one goes. KD ain't look too keen to make friends last night when asked about it.

Dude spends his summers recruiting/begging people to a WINNING squad on some straight bitch shit...

And makes himself not only expendable, but a liability, in the process?

Wouldn't that be karma? Or in other words, a real kick in the nuts?

Assuming Boogie can come back even at 80-85%, this clown is the 5th best player on the team...and he's closer to 6th than 4th.

AND if he is beefing with their best player?

Like I said, won't happen but...

Fantasy basketball wise or even talent wise ok, but the role he plays for them can’t really be replicated. He’s a unique player who fits them perfectly. He wouldn’t be as good anywhere else, and they wouldn’t be as good with anyone else in there for him.

They’ve gone at it before. I think they’ll be fine.

On the back-end of a back-to-back after bringing him back probably too early after an injury.

Pretty close to a non-story.

And certainly not the story that it's being hyped up to be.

This will be a footnote in a month, much less the end of the season.

I was completely on the same boat as you - guys get into it all the time and it's really nothing. However, the suspension indicates it is a little more than nothing. That being said, Warriors management has the best communication in the game so I'm sure they talked this over with Dray and made it a teaching moment for everyone.

KD looked extremely uncomfortable during the post-game press conference, and I really doubt he wants to spend the rest of the season talking about this.

Besides, the offense looked constipated as fuck without either Steph or Draymond, our two best facilitators, out there. And KD didn't play that well: scored 29, but shot like shit. Didn't look comfortable bringing the ball up.

They'll squash this on the plane to Houston.

Like I said below, I made the "non-story" comment before I knew that they suspended him (didn't read the tweet in response #2). Yes, clearly the team suspending him makes it a story. But no one will be talking about this in a month.

Is this the end of the Warriors? Of course not.

But it IS a story because the team actually suspended him for a game.

Who they are playing or when the game is is irrelevant.

The Warriors are publicly saying "Dray was wrong.." and inferring KD was right.

Essentially, they publicly sided with KD.

Your team MADE it a story by suspending him.

Now, maybe its Kerr trying to do some Phil Jackson type head game shit, but it is still a story.

Admitting that shouldn't be a big deal.

Didn't read the tweet in #2.

Yes, clearly suspending him makes it a story. But if it had remained "argument during/after the game," which it was when I responded, it's a non-story.

>Who they are playing or when the game is is irrelevant.

Come on, this happens before the Rockets game, he isn't suspended.

EDIT: I'll even go as far as saying if the story about the post-game argument doesn't leak, he doesn't get suspended. They would have kept this in-house.

As for "unreasonable," you're in here calling him closer to "sixth best player than the fourth" and implying they might trade him over this. Come on, son.

had been resolved between him and Draymond.

His answer? "Nah"

"Are you and Draymond good friends?"

KD: "That's not important now"

I know how pesky facts can be - but as adults we have to accept them.

>Go back to tastelessly shitting on Chris Bosh's illness

you ok? I (and everyone else analyzing the 2003 Draft Class) referred to Bosh as "retired" --- *dramatic*

I mean I guess I could've called Bosh a bitch and it would've been a non-story, but referring to him as "retired" certainly brings all the Hurt to the Locker.

maybe not that publicly but draymond is uncouth af and clearly doesn't know (or care) that you don't bitch at your teammates in public

I'm really surprised at the warriors suspending draymond though, so what if the cameras caught them squabbling...its something to make note of, but not that big deal that it warrants a suspension..seems excessive

As I said above, I figure the only reason they suspend him without pay is because the details of the post-game fight leaked. That put them in a situation where they felt they had to do something publicly. Otherwise, either 1) they don't suspend him or 2) they sit him and say it's due to the earlier injury. No matter what, they'd handle it in-house.

54. "Come on man. People in here are absolutely hating on Draymond"
In response to Reply # 46

I've lost count of how many times people are in here calling him a bitch.

The subtext of about 90% of the responses is "I really, REALLY hope that this breaks up the team!" (which it won't)

And here's the harsh reality: nothing Draymond said was wrong. Yeah, he put it indelicately to say the least, but he wasn't wrong.

- Draymond has been making plays for years.
- The Warriors did indeed win a chip before KD got here
- Draymond isn't a scrub
- KD has been making the whole season about him and whether he's going to stay or leave. He has been keeping the story alive and making it so that both he (Durant) and the rest of the team have had to answer questions about it all season so far. Now, there's not much KD can have done about it beyond just re-signing in the off-season (which he isn't going to do until he's Supermax eligible), but it's true.

So, if indeed it's been hanging over the locker room all season, good for Draymond for getting it all out in the open. This is like when there's tension between you and a friend, and instead of dancing around because you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, you get that shit out there so that you can deal with it. He shouldn't have called KD a bitch as many times as he did, but his sentiments were correct.

Now, I'm still of the opinion that this shit still isn't a big deal. And I'm still of the opinion the KD is staying. But if KD doesn't stay (he will), it won't be because of this, and if the Warriors don't re-sign Draymond in the 2020 off-season (they may not) it won't be because of this.

In response to Reply # 54

bc they suspended him AND his teammates were trying to get him to chill, on the bench and in the locker room (according to reports).

Dray could have been factual correct in everything he said and still be a bitch for saying

ie

Steph could tell durant I was the best player on the team before you got here. Thats a fact but he sound dumb as hell and bitchmade for saying it.

Are some people hating on dray and the warriors in here...of course. Does that make what dray said any less bitchmade...nope.

Because that's the context that's being lost in much of this. Yes, Draymond comments made it about more than that game, but how the game unfolded, including the overtime, explains a good deal of what was going on.

96. "Okay, let's start at the 4th quarter"
In response to Reply # 79

(I'll try to keep this brief as possible, but I probably won't succeed)

With a little over 5 minutes to go, the Warriors are down 11. KD has a triple double, but isn't shooting that well and has been in foul trouble most of the game. Neither is Klay. But both are scoring. Draymond is doing a lot of the ball-handling, rebounding, and defense.

So the Warriors tear off a 11-0 run to tie the game with a little under a minute to go, built on Klay's shooting and Draymond's defense. This takes us to the play in question.

Draymond starts to bring up the ball (like he'd been doing for most of the game) and KD immediately starts clapping and signaling for Draymond to pass to him, showing Draymond up. Draymond ignores him and makes the dumb play. Yeah, he should passed the ball to KD earlier, or at least found a way to get it to Klay, who had the hotter hand at that point. Soon time expires and we get the mess on the bench.

But it's still tied in OT. Warriors go up with an Iggy 3, and then KD fouls out. It was a ticky-tacky foul that the ref shouldn't have called during an OT, but it was still a foul and a dumb move by KD. That's the turning final turning point of the game. No KD for the rest of the OT and they lose.

So, given all that, I can understand why Draymond would flash on KD in the locker-room after KD won't let go about not passing him the ball to him at the end of regulation. Yeah, Draymond should have passed, but he was a big reason that they were in position to win, and now KD is trying to play him like he's Mario Chalmers both on and off the court (at least that game). Especially after KD fouls out and literally is not on the court for the majority of the OT.

Now you factor in the last couple of months of the constant questions and speculation of whether KD is going to leave, compounded with KD himself not helping matters by purposely leaving things up in the air, and he says what says, while calling KD a bitch. And again, nothing he said wasn't true, but he shouldn't have called KD a bitch while he was doing it.

So that's the context. Draymond didn't randomly call KD out his name after a game just because he was defensive about not passing him the rock.

Like I said above, I absolutely love Draymond and have defended dude for years...you need someone to hold others accountable, unabashedly. However, it's clear here that he crossed the line and the Warriors coaching staff agreed with that.

Will it blow over? Of course. Could it play a role in KD's decision this summer? Maybe

They're over the cap, so Cousins would have to re-sign at a steep discount. And if that happens, it means Cousins wasn't very good when he eventually suits up this season (which I doubt will be the case).

If Durant leaves (which he won't), they're best shot at a superstar next season is packing a some of the young left-over non Steph, Klay, and Dray players for a trade with like Iggy's expiring deal.

Klay probably will at this point.

But honestly, that whole “we were winning before you got here” shit isn’t a wise statement.

While true, the NBA has shifted a bit and KD can go and tip the scales elsewhere, especially in LA or maybe even Philly now.

and if Klay follows him (I highly doubt Klay will do it), you can put a fork in them. The Steph-Klay combo is what takes that team from an annoyance to "complete bullshit".

add Durant to that, and they go from "complete bullshit" to "fuck everyone in the goat ass bullshit".

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

I went to see that team play last year and sat in what were probably the best seats I ever had for a Wizards game. First off, the whole team is magical. Honestly dude, if they come to your town just go and get the good seats - you’ve never seen basketball played this way.

This was a Wednesday night in February. There was no reason for Draymond Green to be playing as hard as he was, but he was up the Wizards’ ass from the first tip. I’d never seen someone put in such a dogged effort in a regular season NBA game in person. Dude was bloodthirsty for all four quarters.

He obviously overreacted In this instance. But I’ve watched people in this post and online today dump all over Draymond Green and I think that’s pretty unfair - they’re selling this guy really short. He doesn’t fill up the stat sheet like his teammates, but I think he sets the tone. He’s their edge, and I think without him that team could take on a passive (millennial) personality even more than they already do at times.

He obviously reacted the wrong way, but there's a grip of ways in which he may feel undermined by Durant's behavior that have been brought up here. The style of play kinda clashes as well, we ignore Draymond's hustle and focus on the fact that he didn't pass the ball to the Mr. Efficiency.

Watch the play again...

...that's Klay Thompson trailing him and wide open as he forces his way into the lane...

Dray had 3 people converge on him = T.O.

whatever the issue is with KD

there were still better options.

On one hand, it's ESPN overblowing of a temper flare-up-- which happens *all the time*, but isn't always so public-- because Durant, Draymond, and trouble makes for SEO/clickbait/ratings magic. It's irritating, as is basically anything ESPN does.

On the other hand, the adamant insistence from Golden State fans that it's absolutely, definitely, undeniably nothing is weird, because while I tend to agree that it's more likely to be nothing, any honest fan would admit that you don't like seeing these sorts of flare-ups be so public and that teams with title aspirations can't really afford long-term chemistry issues. I'd understand if Warriors fans in 2-3 weeks, when the team continues playing well (as they will), came out and said, "See? Everything's fine"... then. But now? I think mild concern should be the bare minimum. But most Warriors fans here and on social media seem content to mock the very notion that anything here is worth any type of concern. Which is equally annoying to ESPN's insistence that this is absolutely, definitely, undeniably SOMETHING.

To rephrase Phil Hartman's classic SNL bit, "This isn't something, this isn't nothing."

story...?

i.e. when they win, we don't hear these stories

when they lost, Draymond was ready to fight the whole team

...apparently...

I think this is an indication that they are vulnerable

if my ASSumption is correct...that he had a locker room meltdown the year they lost

it's definitely a worthy story

the caping makes it entertaining.

my point was

Dray plays with a controlled rage

When that rage gets out of control...the GSW appear vulnerable

.

The techs and suspension are part of the larger issue

along with his rage being aimed at team mates

How is this going to impact whether or not we win a championship this year?

How is this going to impact long term "chemistry issues, especially when every Warrior fan has known for two years or so that if they team is can only offer one of these guys a Supermax deal, it'll be KD? And not because "OMG KD AND DRAYMOND HATE EACH OTHER AND THEY HAVE FOR YEARS!!!!", it'll because of money and the luxury tax.

Because unlike KD, Draymond has been incredibly clear about his next contract: he's not taking any discounts or signing team friendly deals. He's going to want the max that the team can give him because he thinks they've had him at a discount. Which is his prerogative, but also Warriors fans understand if the team doesn't decide to sign Draymond to a Supermax deal if he's eligible for one.

If anything, after Tuesday night's game, I'm more convinced than ever that they find a way to work things out on the court and probably off. Curry's going to be out for at least a week or two, and they've got a lot of tough-ish games, and the flow of their offense looked bad with both Curry or Draymond. So the two of them not finding a way to work together sounds ridiculous.

Like it doesn’t HAVE to stay a thing, but for some reason he wants it to stay a thing. There’s some weird, oddly sensitive, mercurial victim complex he’s got...it’s such a fascinating contrast to the transformational talent and killer he is on the court.

The only time I see him address it is when media asks him specifically. And if he's to be taken at his word, it came out of nowhere. No snark or anything, I'm just genuinely tryna understand your perception of his victim complex

super honest and revealing.

only thing Jack and Barnes failed to ask, out of all the things they could forget, was how was his relationship with Draymond now.

I mean, maybe it was clear enough by what he didn't say (Dray's name) when talking about how he was still close with Steph and Klay, etc., but it would have been nice to hear what he WOULD HAVE said had he been asked.

... A middle school defense and ran Klay into the ground.

Signing Russell was dumb, trading for Wiggins is dumber. Your run is over and your team trashed Russell after the trade.. Unless y'all sign another KD you'll continue to tread water.

Both of these things can be and are true. And idk if Strauss already had this book ready to roll at this time or pushed it out b/c we don't have anything else to talk about but the timing is FUNNY.

It's almost to the point he don't even care about winning as much as he does about his reputation. Sad.....

he had it in OKC, that city loved him...he went from a baby to a grown man, there. Russ will be beloved in that city until the end of time. KD just burning shit down wherever he leaves. Dude is a God-level basketball player and still lookin for something.

And the way he's telling it seems like the truth....KD went crazy. He was still mad at being #2 to LeBron rather than just enjoying himself. He's gonna regret leaving eventually because he can't get that type of synergy back with anybody else.

probably somewhere in the middle.

He says that KD had already decided that he was leaving but I'm sure the guy that was supposed to be your best friend on the team calling you a bitch ass n.... in front of the entire team didn't help.

I thought it was interesting that he says his agent BJ Armstrong told him when Dray signed his deal in 2015 that they might be able to get KD in 2017.

I can't believe that elite free agents wait until after the season to make their decisions. It wouldn't be prudent. The ripples of the impact of their decisions reach too far to simply decide in short time after a playoff run.

The players talk all year round so their arrangement was going to be solidified at some point, wither in person like at All-Star Weekend or via text or agent.

I don't remember if Durant and the rest of the Warriors were significantly out-of-step post-All Star Break. I can't imagine that Durant's decision affected his play much. He was having a historic run of play in the Playoffs prior to his injury.

The only issue I have with KD about his decision to leave GS was the unnecessary passive-aggressiveness he showed when asked about his free-agency. His attempts to avoid distractions only increased distraction.

Hopefully, he's happy. I just don't this (or anything else basketball-related) will.
