"LeBron: "It was bad for our franchise to trade away our superstar PG""

"You actually made a phone call to ownership to tell them not to trade Kyrie Irving?"

Bron: "Yea."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXN046XZsrA

Glad that got settled. No burner account needed to express his true feelings in plain speak.

In order:

- play your balls off en route to a Finals sacrifice

- explain why you're frustrated

- inevitably lose in the Finals while it's obviously because your team sucks

- leave Cleveland so cleanly and with the hometown goodwill intact

EDIT:
and I just want to say, this guy fuckin rules. Just sitting here watching this, I'm pleasantly content with how well he handles himself, how comfortable and thoughtful he seems. This dude has been famous since he was 15. Never got a DUI, never had cops at the crib. He's matured in the boldest ways, going from a scrawny kid to an earnest father and leader. There's credible debate over whether he or Mike is the best player ever, but there's certainly no question who is the better person.

And that's a big reason why I root for LeBron. Dude is solid in all dimensions - prolific as a player - but his development as a human being has been as rewarding to watch as his ascent to the top tier of Rushmore.

not like the trade that actually happened and preferring another trade for kyrie does not equal "i didn't want kyrie traded at all"

this isn't even new information. there are no new talking points to be made here.

He didn't. Dan Gilbert did. After Griffin was wrongfully fired (in the middle of a 2-year contract where Bron couldn't exercise leverage) - Gilbert defied LeBron at every turn and wouldn't allow LeBron to "LeGM" anymore - and this is the product. A trash team compiled by a trash owner.

Anybody would've been nuts not to at least consider Love & Kyrie for 'Melo, PG & Bledsoe <<< that was the trade in question you're inaccurately referencing. Why? Well - after last year's finals it was clear Cleveland needed more horses. Also - both Love and Irving have not been durable in the playoffs and have been injured almost as often as they've been healthy. And what do you know - both Love & Ky are unavailable to play right now - while PG, 'Melo & Bledsoe played all year long without injury. So if Cleveland had 'Melo, PG & Bledsoe right now would they be in a better position? Absolutely.

But Bron was mad AF when they traded Kyrie like that - and rightfully so.

What's also funny is Kyrie *also* pointed the blame to the Cavs' front-office as to why he wanted to leave - and both Bron & Kyrie reunited at the All-Star game with genuine love and friendship - probably closer than they've ever been.

But here you are scathingly mad and irrational.

Shit's sad.

no, he was correctly referencing the cavs-pacers-phoenix 3-way trade that had been pursued which Kyrie found out about.

>But Bron was mad AF when they traded Kyrie like that - and
>rightfully so.

Bron was mad AF because they didn't complete the trade for Kyrie that HE wanted. But once that fell through & Kyrie found out about it, he demanded to be traded and threatened to get surgery on his knee and sit out the season if they refused (and rightfully so), so it was already too late by then.

yeah Ba seems real mad that Ky escaped the Cavtanic before it sunk and is on the Celtics now.

This post season, because this very star PG was hurt.

Well, that and the east is awful.

And now, as you say, the pleas are getting copped.

They are about to actually face a team with players
better than Derozan, so time to temper expectations.

Now the tables have turned, we pose to feel sorry for him. This is what he created when he ran to Miami. *shrug*

and you're wrong anyway. The "old celtics" weren't that old. They were in the their early to mid 30's and featured Allen, Pierce, KG & prime Rondo. Also - Rose had prime Noah - who was a multi all-star and made an all NBA 1st team. That Bulls team was top seed and the favorites in that series.

Go back to the lab and do better.

yea - those aren't elite, MVP-level numbers.

Glad you didn't include 2014 to save face on embarrassment. The dropoff was immense.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

If he told them not to trade him, they won't.

I am very sure they don't make any moves without consulting him. Especially since he has them under the gun.

Garbage interview

Like what would the Cavs and Gilbert do now; come out on TV and say he is lying? And lose him publicly?

or how emphatic he was about them not trading him. Kyrie wanted out after hearing his name in trade rumors. And not wanting to play second fiddle anymore, or left holding the bag when LeBron bolts.

There is absolutely no way, that Cleveland entertained trade requests without letting Lebron know about it.

If he really wanted dude to stay, he had more than enough time to make him feel at home there. Not last ditch efforts after he has explored his options, and declined to commit to any potential free agents that he was going to stay in Cleveland beyond this season. Kyrie knew it, Butler, PG, and anyone else in a trade scenario last summer knew it.

What you don't understand (and don't care to understand) is that LeBron lost his leverage as "LeGM" after Griffin was fired. Bron and Griffin worked in concert to assemble the championship team and at that point - yes - LeBron was looped into decisions. After Gilbert went rogue (when LeBron was in the middle of his 2-year deal and had no leverage) - Gilbert had grown tired of LeBron being the decision maker and "LeGM" - which is why he fired Griffin and decided to take the franchise in his own hands. Bron was froze out of front office decisions and Gilbert traded Kyrie - it's accepted and basic knowledge that Bron called to dissuade this dumbass trade.

(3/3) 3. Trade 1.0 last summer & Trade 2.0 at the deadline led by a humble, talented, young GM: Koby Altman.

W/o either of these 2 bold moves orchestrated by Koby & the @Cavs front office, we would not be here w/ a good chance to bring another one home to CLE. #WhateverItTakes

He didn't dispute anything LeBron said (because it's fact) - but said that the trades were great moves and are the reason the Cavs "have a good chance of bringing another title home"

lol time for Bron to bounce.

that they let Kyrie go over it.
I'm including LeBron in that "they".

I would have settled for Kevin Love and a bag of dildos traded for some run of the mill PF that defends and "does stuff". Like... Jeff Green. THAT, even if Kyrie was out for the playoffs, would have been acceptable.

Now I gotta look forward to my favorite team... having none of my favorite players and rooting for the Warriors NOT to get near the Spurs in ring count.

Paul George is fine. He isnt elite at anything, but hes good at a bunch of things. Kyrie is an elite shooter. Why would you give that up for an outside the top 20 player?

PG is an elite shooter - and also a valuable wing defender w/ length. Straight up - I'd take Kyrie over PG - but I would take PG/Melo & Bledsoe over Kyrie & Love (mainly because of durability/injury issues with both Kyrie & Love).

'Melo clearly was a move to win now and bolster Bron w/ an elite shooter - but PG & Bledsoe would've been great pieces for a future team - and worth the risk - especially knowing that Kyrie would never re-sign.

That's the thing - even if they didn't move Kyrie - Cleveland was losing him anyway. Ain't no way he was resigning in Cleveland.

53. "Bron: Trading Kyrie was Beginning of the End (via Athletic)"
In response to Reply # 0

https://theathletic.com/660104/2018/11/19/lebron-james-cavaliers-trading-of-kyrie-irving-was-beginning-of-the-end-of-everything/

"James was adamant on the call — do not trade Irving, especially to the Celtics. By the end of the call, according to four separate accounts of people present for the conversation, Altman told James the trade would not occur.

James suggested he didn’t feel he was lied to by Altman, so much as Altman was overruled by owner Dan Gilbert.

“You realize at that point in time, take nothing from Koby, because Koby (was just named GM), but at that point in time, you realize that Koby’s not the only one running the team, as (former GM David Griffin) had done, and that’s why Griff was let go pretty much,” James said.

Cavs front-office officials declined to be quoted for this story but disputed that Altman gave James any indication the trade would not occur. They also said Altman asked James whether he would commit to the Cavs long-term if Irving were not traded, and James said no."

Welp. The worst owner in sports (Gilbert) now has what he wants: full control of the franchise. Unsurprisingly, Cleveland is the worst team in basketball right now.
