"Poll question: Is Kyrie not supporting the Celtics in game 7 a big deal?"
Tue May-29-18 11:22 AM by Vex_id

Ainge claimed that Kyrie wasn't there because of a septum/nasal surgery - but it was peculiar to not see Kyrie there. I didn't see him after games 1 & 2 (though I don't know if he was in the building) - but he was glaringly absent from the bench.

Poll result (20 votes)
Non-issue (13 votes)Vote
He couldn't tolerate seeing Bron dance in his new home (1 votes)Vote
The pain of not being able to play was too much (0 votes)Vote
He should've been there to support his team, period. (5 votes)Vote
Kyrie ain't coming back to Boston (1 votes)Vote

As if this poll's agenda wasn't transparent enough based on who posted it, the one one-word "non-issue" option and the four full-sentence "Kyrie's a selfish asshole" options really underscore the agenda at play.

Dude rocked a fracture inside his face since November to keep playing with the team... but yeah, he's the asshole for not recovering from surgery in time for Game 7.

but I agree that overall it's not a huge deal - but it is peculiar. I think it killed him to not be able to compete in this series where he felt like he could've been a difference maker. But given the tantalizing 'genda material this could generate - it was too tantalizing not to poast.

It's surgery on his body. Get that done whenever the hell you want.

Lol @ sitting on a bench being more important than when you want to have a surgical procedure done.

Maybe he had a wall in the park planned for Friday and wanted to make sure he could smell flowers.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

I'm more worried about the actual reason

march - knee surgery 1
april - knee surgery 2
may - deviated septum surgery

Dude has been on a surgery a month schedule

I'd be more concerned about that than anything

The plea cop...they were rehabbing is BS

I ain't let Kawhi get away with that nonsense

I'm not letting both of these guys get away with it either

Show up.

CPPlea may be a Loser...but at least he was there to support his team.

^all very fair points.

And even if he had this "septum surgery" - he elected to have it smack in the middle of the conference finals against his former team? He could've had this surgery weeks before or after.

I saw it when I switched to ESPNews after the game. They showed Bron walkin to their locker room. Gordon and the other Morris twin were there and talked to him. Can't find pictures though.

the way this team is shaping up - I don't see how Kyrie will be the de-facto "guy" in Boston. He'll be another guy on a great team - similar to the GS Warriors. But wasn't his whole purported reason for leaving was that he wanted to see what he could do as *the* honcho on a team?

that's who he was

his numbers actually went down

less minutes
less fgas
less ppg
(he did increase his efficiency)

Should be obvious now...he's the hammer

BOS doesn't have a killer...that's what he's there for

He can be a 'contributor' for the season

but if he's healthy for their next playoff run...his role is closer.

you and everyone else who either hate ky or love bron gonna just throw out the 60 games he played...the games where marcus smart and horford and brown hit game-winners from sharing the ball...and kyrie was right there on the court.

the shit got put to bed and AS SOON as he can't play, y'all go right back to making things up. it's incredible. it's every single time he gets injured...y'all just make stuff up.

it's his fault. he needs to stop missing significant time.

I get that he wanted to be on a team and nurtured by a superior organization - anybody who honestly looks at Cleveland's Front Office can understand that. I get all of that. But wasn't it also about him wanting to get out of LeBron's shadow and see what he can do as *the* guy on a team? If so - I think that's an erroneous mindset in today's NBA - but he has the right to want to pursue that and experience it for himself.

Look - I don't hate Kyrie Irving at all - I think highly of him and thoroughly enjoyed watching him play with LeBron. I'm glad that he's in such a good situation (courtesy of Dan Gilbert and Cleveland's ineptitude) - but I also think you (and others) unfairly criticize LeBron and put all the blame on him for Irving wanting to leave. Irving himself has flatly denied that - and said how amazing it was to spend that time with LeBron and it ultimately wasn't about not wanting to play with LeBron (his quote not mine) -- so notice that the one who is hurling vitriol here is you towards LeBron. I'm just defending LeBron who you are unfairly targeting. I wish Kyrie the best; you wish LeBron the worst.

being an iso weapon was NOT the best version of himself on the court and the first 60 under stevens proved that. he had his most efficient season ever, being used as a cutter...coming off designed screen...more pick and roll. if you watched him play as a celtic, you saw this. anyone saying different is just mad he left bron and don't want another finals loss on HIS resume. he can recover from 1-1. ain't nobody tryna be way under .500 and copping pleas about they legacy with padding stats.

like that? Or how that is a pejorative. I'm sure Barkley, Miller, Dominique, Malone, Stockton, Vince, Ewing, etc...would take 7 Finals appearances and 3 rings.

...I'm from the era when A.I. was the answer, now they think ai is the answer - Marlon Craft

not a minus. Only people with skewed mindsets and irrational hatred think that winning more conference titles is a bad thing - as you are doing here by saying "oh Kyrie doesn't want a losing record in the Finals" - Kyrie ain't thinking about that and doesn't GAF about that - you do. As was stated above - all of the NBA greats would *die* to have Bron's resume of Finals appearances and multiple rings - and Kyrie Irving will be lucky to ever appear in 3 consecutive NBA Finals ever again and have that kind of opportunity at greatness.

But to your other point - yes - I have watched Boston games and Kyrie is in the best system in the league and getting easy buckets - but I still hold to the idea that he will never have an opportunity to shine as bright as he did w/ Bron in Cleveland. That opportunity afforded him immense cache and clout - and he stepped up and played big - and that's a testament to Bron's greatness. Kyrie knows that - it's a shame that you don't.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.
