"WCF Game 2: "We Are Who We Are" -D'Antoni"

Will D'Antoni's stubbornness and confidence in self carry the day - or is the series over after tonight?

They are so balanced and each of their 4 superstars complement the other exceptionally well. The difference in talent between them and everyone (including Houston) is glaring.

somebody gotta force kd out.

nothing against gs or kd. i just wanna get back to watching nba seasons without an inevitable conclusion.

basically the only thing preventing them from being crowned every year is an injury.

it needs to get to the point where people stop acting like nothing matters but ring counts. Context matters. I think KD is enjoying playing in this system (of course) - but deep down I think he realizes that he has a lot more he wants to prove than simply joining a title team where a ring is guaranteed.

change their minds about him. He'd have to bring a D2 college team to the NBA and even then they'd be like, his 2nd option is why they won.

He leaves GS and joins a team with two other top 5 draft picks, one being a former finals MVP. Then after he wins a title or two there he goes back to OKC to play with two other top 5 NBA picks, one being a former #1 overall draft pick. Once he wins a title there, I will stop hating him, because obviously he did things the respectably hard way.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

while people shitted on russ as the weak link in the duo.

not bowing down to kd for going to an already great perennial rival (and title holder) after the winningest season in nba history isnt exactly irrational hate.

act like he took their jobs away and banged their gf's. People here have made countless posts about Russ being better than him. A consensus on him by many here coming out of UT that his upside was Rashard Lewis.

but thats a lot different than what im referring to imo.

dude is easily the most extreme example of 'ring chasing' (prime, conf rival, previous ring etc). there are some reasonable criticisms for that.

He's the most gifted scorer in the game and we've never seen anything like him in terms of being a 7-foot sharp-shooter w/ quickness and the ability to blow by you off the dribble. He's Dirk 2.0.

But unfortunately for him - I think his free-agent decision will be a permanent stain on his legacy. He played on a great team in OKC and - had Klay Thompson not had the game of his life - they would've beaten GS in 2016 and advanced to their 2nd NBA Finals in the KD/Westbrook era. He was right there - at the cusp - and then leaves to join the arch rival that just beat him?

He's KD. He can beat GS w/ the right pieces - he's that good. The move to GS was like seeing a revolutionary army battle to the brink against an imperialist force and then come *so* close - but ultimately just throw in the white flag because it's easier to join the imperial empire.

If he stayed in OKC - they would've beat GS last year (with Steph's body breaking down). The other move that would've had immense potential for him would be to have gone back home to DC. That team would've won the east this year and that alone would've done more for his legacy (lifting the Wizards out of mediocrity to win the East) than winning the title with the Empire that invaded his village and burned his comrades at the stake.

Its not the exact same, but its not as different as you
like to pretend.

Bron paved the way. Cant win? Just build a new squad.

That formula backfired this year, since Bron alienated
Ky by okaying him being shopped.

Bron ran to Miami, and brought Bosh with him.

Bron loses to GS, tries to assemble the Avengers
by okaying a trade of his “little bro”

And hes probably going to Philly this summer.

Do you honestly think we beleive that you think
these things are THAT different from KD?

Cmon man. Next you’ll say “fake news”

Stop lying. Its not THAT different.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Rockets came out w/ great energy - but in game 1 they couldn't sustain it and looked worn out as the game went on - whereas Warriors looked fresh throughout.

Good 1Q by Houston - but they seemed to exert an awful lot of energy to build up a small 5-point lead, whereas GS doesn't even seem to have broken a sweat yet.

just seems to be like two thoroughbreds where they start out even - but ultimately the thoroughbred w/ the superior horsepower outpaces the other one as the race matures.

Harden and Paul push off on virtually every play, it takes the blatant kind at the end of the half to actually get called, it's disgraceful. There were also a couple of loose balls where the refs immediately went Houston's way like they were obvious calls.

but this is just one of THOSE games.

Houston had to bring it on overdrive level but not only that just bringing it isn't enough...your shots have to fall, etc.

that happened.

on the other hand, Warriors didn't match them and their guys (minus KD) had poor games.

I still expect GSW to win both games at Oracle.

And I'm saying that what happened in Game 1 is a lot more likely to happen again that what happened tonight.

Would be nice to get out of the way quickly, but if we gotta go an extra game or so, so be it.
