a football dynasty is probably the most difficult goal in American team sports.

being loaded is just the *start*. so many things can go off the tracks from there.

Its definitely not easy by any means,
but we are well equipped to do it.

What makes me most hopeful is the Wentz/Pederson combo,
we really have something special there.

One minute, it looks like you're about to score a TD and win back-to-back Superbowl's. The next Malcolm Butler is stepping in front of Russell Wilson pass and the game is over.

Too many variables and volatility in football to predict dynasties. Better to just celebrate what you have now.

As a fan of those Rams teams, I'm here to say that time moves *really* quick in the NFL. Gotta enjoy the time at the top and not get caught up in living up to unrealistic expectations.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

I've seen more than a few good QB's look like trash in their first playoff appearance. We still have no idea how Wentz will handle the pressure of one and done.

be set up nicely for the future. As long as you have an elite QB you will always be in contention if you can keep some talent around him. I think Pederson is a good coach but sustained success will cause other teams to raid your coordinators.

Won the lottery with a franchise QB at the bottom of a cracker jacks box to go with pro bowl defensive talents. Not a whole lot to really help put them over the top offensively since.

Howie made sure to reverse the damage Chip has done while succeeding where Chip failed in identifying a franchise QB & a coach who can coach for scheme & culture.

Hell, Seattle isn't even out the picture since they still have some of those core guys + Wilson + coaching. Being a team that's a threat to be there every year isn't so much a bad thing now that we've done it, and thinking we have a shot at dynasty isn't so far fetched either.

Too soon for that since we didn't even have the parade yet, but def not a discussion that's far fetched given the assets & personnel from the most notable general manager in the league.

they traded for Percy Harvin and Jimmy Graham to open up the offense. Harvin was still a high quality weapon in space at the time, but Seattle couldn't figure out how to incorporate him and injuries finished him off soon-after. took two years to work Graham into their offense as well. and when Lynch retired it ripped out the soul of that side of the ball.

and Seattle at their peak had more elite players than Philly has now. Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman, Michael Bennett, Marshawn Lynch, Bobby Wagner and Kam Chancellor were all basically the best in the NFL at their respective positions, or at minimum top three.

Seattle was on the doorstep of a two-peat and couldn't make the playoffs just two seasons later. if they get back it'll be because they completely retooled the majority of their roster.

>Too soon for that since we didn't even have the parade yet,
>but def not a discussion that's far fetched given the assets &

Carroll and Schneider made nearly every right personnel move when Seattle was at their best. then they had a bunch of misses. no GM-scouting team is bulletproof.

just saying, Seattle had a great front office, young franchise QB, dominating defense in its prime and the draft/salary cap capital to land big fish on offense. they did not become a dynasty, because having all those pieces is just the beginning of the run -- win another within two years and *then* you can start the dynasty talk.

Mostly everybody is under contract, we are young. Carson is going to be extra motivated, he's gonna want to win one himself. The Eagles should be just as good if not better next year. Sidney Jones, Jordan Hicks, Jason Peters coming back. It's hard to get there, but they do have the potential to win a couple.

PS The Cowboys haven't won a playoff game in 22 years.

it’s so hard to sustain success tho. I could see a deep playoff run but wouldn’t be one bit surprised if its a 9-7 type year.

SB hangovers are far more common than back to back SB’s.

Underdog mentality was awesome & worked to their advantage...now they gotta flip the script. Seems like they have the right coach for it though.

talking dynasties. LoL.

Yes, this team is definitely set up nicely for the future. However, we see all the time teams that seemingly look poised for a long run don't pan out. Injuries, free agency, loss of key coaches, etc. can all disrupt continuity and have a domino effect.

I know tons of people are giving Howie Roseman his props, but I really think the unsung hero in acquiring key free agents and rookies was the hiring of Joe Douglas (former scout/asst. gm with Ravens) and Andy Weidl (top scout with Ravens). We hit a home run on so many free agent/rookie signings:

Cut the most overrated and overpriced backup QB in the league in Chase McDaniel and signed Big Dick Nick Foles (SB MVP!)
Blount
Chris Long
Stefen Wisniewski who had a career year
Patrick Robinson (who could have predicted that???!!)
Corey Graham - key contributor in secondary
Traded Jordan Matthews for Ronald Darby
Signed Jake Elliot when Sturgis went down
Signed a much needed new WR coach - Mike Groh

Rookies

Drafted Derek Barnett - this pick will pay dividends in the years to come

Kept UDFA Cory Clement who was obviously a key contributor in our special teams and running/receiving game

Mack Hollins - bright future at WR and special teams ace already

Sidney Jones - redshirt year, but should be a solid starter/contributor for years to come

Notice: no big splash signings like we've grown accustomed to in years past. Just solid contributors all over.

And the coaching this year was just phenomenal all around. Dougie P's play calling and aggressiveness on offense set the tone for the team and year. Groh's coaching up of the WRs. Stoudtland's coaching of our OL was nothing short of amazing. Undin's coaching of our DB's (despite shitty SB peformance) was simply terrific. Just amazing coaching all-around. Hope these guys stay together for at least another year.

can we get some clarification on what classifies as a dynasty?

i wouldnt be suprised to see them make the playoffs for the next 5 years. i dont expect them to make it back to the super bowl in that time period though. another trip within 10 years? maybe.

The NFL has the most beta year to year of any professional league. So many variables that factor in, that's why the NE run is so incredible.
