"CFB Weekend 9.29-9.30"

broadcasters are so stuck on QB narratives when good ones play

*Luke Falk takes sack after 5 seconds*..."Sometimes you get pressure because Falk is so good going through multiple progressions, other times the offensive line breaks down"

*Ronald Jones runs for 85 yard TD after USC coaches change play from sideline*..."Got to give Darnold credit for getting his team into that play"

it's amazing, every week

he's got a big arm, despite the ugly wind-up

he keeps his eyes up and can step up and around rush inside pocket

he throws with anticipation, into NFL-tight windows, and adjusts to defenses (Cal was getting a ton of pressure last week, but then went into an eight-man coverage a few times to throw him off...he played it perfectly and threw a laser to the TE right as he uncovered)

he makes bad throws like everyone else and tonight has been ugly so far, but I like him a lot

Rosen does some dummy stuff too but he's also legit

complete on a consistent basis as well (current NCAA quarterbacks)

I gave Matt Ryan a lot of shit about his NFL draft status because he threw 20 picks as a damn senior and couldn't hit 60 percent of his throws against a not-very-great ACC schedule...he's never thrown that many in a NFL season, and has a career 65 percent completion percentage

maybe Darnold throws a lot of interceptions in the NFL, a la Jameis, but to me the pure QB stuff you rarely see in college is also there...like Jameis

I think he is the best SC QB to come out since Palmer.

Whether he succeeds or fails in the NFL is up for debate but he is a top 3 CFB QB right now.

but NFL potential is such a crap shoot and I care less and less about the league with each passing day. so the fact that darnold could be a great NFL qb 5 years from now means whatever to me.

I'm focused on the college game and Darnold isn't even close to being the best player in college football or the best college qb. the hype is unjustified and annoying.

but my bigger beef is with the over the top hype he gets as a college player and heisman candidate.

I guess being a white qb at SC plays a role in this.

The Pac 12 could have three QBs taken in the first round of the NFL draft this year.

Rosen and Darnold are practically a lock to go in the first round and Falk will have a chance to work his way into the first as well.

I’m not that high on Browning and he doesn’t have great arm strength but he will probably get drafted if he comes out. Browning is a slightly more talented and better Kellen Moore in my opinion.

UCLA was garbage last season on offense without him and if he goes down this season, I don’t think UCLA would win another game this season.

He makes some dumb plays and sometimes he gets away with them (aTm) and sometimes he doesn’t (Memphis) but a lot of that is due to him having to carry that entire UCLA team on his back.

He is a lot more mobile than I thought, almost on par with Darnold. Unlike Darnold, Rosen has a very smooth throwing motion and just as strong of an arm.

So yeah, I’m a Rosen believer.

their receivers can barely get off press coverage and treat passes like hot skillets

offensive line comes and goes

that Jamabo kid is OK but the running backs rarely get any yards on their own

and that defense...probably the worst in P5

Over rated.

Not a knock on Darnold, who is a good QB but as you stated SC lost to much talent from last season to be as good as they were ranked.

SC is still a top 20 team and more than likely wins the Pac 12 South this season.

bad clock management gives me some kind of long-term stress disorder every Saturday

- ECU has first and goal with 1:04 on a running clock, one timeout

- ECU runs for two yards, does not use their timeout

- ECU does not snap the ball for 38 SECONDS!!!

- ECU runs for one yard, calls a timeout with 4 SECONDS LEFT!!!

- ECU could only get off 3 plays in 1:04 with a full timeout!!!

- ECU pulls a Les Miles and completes a TD pass as the half expires

it worked out but fucking hell that was the worst clock management I've seen since last Saturday

i knew he was gonna be nice when he finally got his shot after playing behind mccaffrey, but dayum, he killing it.

he on some video game shit.

only player since '04 w/ runs of 50yds+ in 6 straight games. i think that also puts him over 1,000 yds for the season, and game 5 isn't all the way done yet. that's only been done (1k yds after 5 games) twice since '04.

leading the nation in rushing yards and ypc (11.1!), now seven consecutive games with a 50+ yard rushing TD, most rushing yards after 5 games in past 20 years. I tuned in to the last 2 games and it seems like he's just running by everyone at will.

you know that feeling you get when you've watched the game that got the HC fired?

Phillip Fulmer losing to South Carolina on the road.

Derek Dooley getting blown out at Vandy.

Mark Richt's Bulldogs manhandled by Florida in a completely lifeless performance.

Les Miles receiving the Les Miles treatment by Auburn in a last-second loss.

today, 41-0 was it for Butch Jones. he'll coach out the string but his career as Tennessee's head coach is over in our hearts and minds. his too.

I remember when most of Vol Nation fell in love with Jones. in his first season, Tennessee took #6 Georgia to overtime before losing on a fumble at the goal-line. Jones went for it on fourth down three times, converting all of them with perfect play calls. he knew he had nothing to lose and he was coaching with his balls out.

five years later, with an entire roster he built brick by brick, and Tennessee cannot even manage 150 yards against the same program. first shutout in 23 years. worst home loss in 112 years. all against another rotten branch of the Saban coaching tree who is starting a true freshman at QB and hasn't done shit himself.

it's over.

Their coaches are letting them down, led by CBJ.

-Hiring unqualified assistant/position coaches (Debord, Scott)
-Unwilling to adapt to personnel
-Gameday management
-Rewarding anti-team behavior (Hurd)
-Non-stop coach-speak

I'm afraid CBJ is just a symptom and not the disease. Think there are a lot of issues with leadership in Knoxville that have lead to this. Quit being cheap and pay for real coaching staff. It will reward itself ten-fold. How much has been spent in coaching buyouts in the past 10 years?

>-Hiring unqualified assistant/position coaches (Debord,
>Scott)

does this matter though? the offense is Butch's. a great assistant helps, but that side of the ball is supposed to be Butch's expertise. just like it doesn't really matter who coaches defense for Saban.

>-Unwilling to adapt to personnel

every read option Dormady runs, a future Vol fan switches allegiance.

>-Gameday management

this to me is the absolute worst. no plan for situational risks (they should've gone for two to start the second OT against Georgia tech, but he's coaching not to get blamed). I will never forgive his dumbass for not going for two at Florida in 2015. not knowing how to use a timeout in year five. fucked up thing is Butch losing to Oklahoma in 2015 because he can't score from first and goal from the five, then he does the same fucking thing against Florida this year -- twice.

>-Non-stop coach-speak

last week's press conference was an embarrassment. have some accountability; that's all fans ask. his coach-splaining is worse than just accepting any defeat.

>I'm afraid CBJ is just a symptom and not the disease. Think

I don't know much about that, but didn't Tennessee try that last year? Shoop made more than every SEC defensive coordinator except for Chavis and Aranda.
