Everyone then stood up for the Anthem itself.

So it was the basic "everyone locks arms to show team unity" type of protest.

we got in this mess because "patriots" and the nfl are constantly making up the rules as they go along to police codes of conduct.

whether it's someone kneeling or sparks with the verse on her wrist or khan or villanueva out there alone accidentally or even ray lewis's look-at-me-flip flop...we need to keep encouraging these nfl people for putting themselves out there.

If he woulda knelt during the anthem, that woulda been a huge statement.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

...to stand. If you stand when you're "supposed" to stand, then it's not a protest.

What it turned into this weekend, at best, is players and owners protesting Drumph what said on Friday night. Okay, fine, Drumph a rotten and dangerous orangutan who's going to end up killing us all. But in this case he Forrest Gump-ed his way into making the dialogue all about him rather than a protest against police brutality and systemic racism. Which, you know, no one talked about this weekend.

And this standing while arms interlocked thing is just a way to "All Live Matter" the protest. "What, are y'all playing Red Rover? FOH" (c) Kid Mero.

i don't think you can generalize that way about these different team/individual statements. i'm sure the arms interlocked meant something different to everyone out there, but at least you had people who chose to make a statement with their teammates and against out-and-out racism.

do i think jerry jones and ray lewis all of a sudden have changed their minds about kaep? of course not. we KNOW they weren't kneeling before. they had months and months to kneel, and they didn't.

but when pushed, the went in the right direction.

this week was better. we need to encourage them instead of drawing a line in the sand.

i really don't understand anyone's endgame if they want to reject the good things that happened this weekend. this doesn't make jason garrett an icon of civil rights, but he did something not-shitty. there's the potential there to turn these dudes into allies.

They could have just locked up arms but to take a knee. I'll give him props.

before or after the anthem instead of during the anthem are really protesting the anthem and the country & trying to hide their real intentions..
