if you have a medical card you can have up to eight plants and so obviously the reasonable yield from eight plants is way more than an ounce. at one point eight ounces was a standard but even that is kind of flimsy. essentially the quantity is not nearly important was it was pre-prop 215 (1996) or even in the early years of the medical program. on the flip side you can be caught with a small quantity and still charged with a felony or felony/misdemeanor wobbler on possession with intent to distribute. Consider these two cases, a medical patient with eight plants that just harvested and has a couple pounds but no scale, baggies, firearms or foot traffic into their home. This person can walk or get off with a fine at worst. Now consider a guy on a street corner with only like 15 grams but all bagged up in nickel sacks, plus he has a heater and a vest on. He will still go down for intent to distribute.
Here they don't mention a quantity but it couldn't have been too ridiculous because Randolph is rich AF and they set his bond real low. He will get a good lawyer and beat this altogether, I imagine. His friend with the gun charge has problems though.

if he is too dumb to have spent $80 or so for a medical card, then maybe he is in some trouble here. i don't think the quantity is too heavy based on the bond they set for him.
quantity is one thing--yes for non prop 215 patients the standard is loosely set at an ounce--but other evidence of a sales operation is another. weapons, protection, scales, packaging, etc. these all figure into charges. sentencing is also fairly varied, i knew a guy who got slammed red-handed with maybe a QP, a scale, a bunch of baggies and he ended up with a wobbler. I think he completed his probation so no felony on his record.

I suppose it's a good thing Zach Randolph wasn't charged with that the police were initially there for in terms of the rocks and such being thrown at their cars. Surprised dude wasn't smart enough to dip out of there since there was so much calamity around him and he's potentially has so much to lose. I suppose he could just get his designated weed carrier eat the charges for him though, right?

First off, homie said niggas smoke an 1/8 a day like that is some insane amount.
Someone who is really about it, could be burning anywhere from a 1/4 to a 1/2 OZ a day, and if they really on it like that and smoke out the homies too, it could go up.

Guys like that, and I have known many, just order a bunch of weed every couple days. And if they are going on a trip or something they just grab up a 1/4 lb, something like that.
