It's all about Otto.
Will someone max out Porter? I think someone like the Nets might throw a big contract his way.
If Wiz max out Otto, that's it for additions outside of the MLE.
I still think you have to sign him. You probably won't get anyone better for him with the cap space they'd have if they lost him and you don't want to just let a valuable commodity walk, especially on a playoff team.
There's also the issue of Bogdan. He's also restricted and could see a minor overpay. Again, probably best for the Wiz to keep what they have and make a trade later.
Jennings is the last key FA. He was useless in the Boston series. He could stay or go. If there's a veteran who might sign a cheaper deal to help the bench, add veteran presence, it would probably be best.
Obviously, backup #4 and backup G is the biggest need. For cheaper guys, they should probably be the next people to give Terrence Jones a shot. Maybe give Spanish League star Edwin Jackson a run at the NBA.
No first rounder for the Wiz - goes to BK in the Bogdan trade. They only have the #52 to find someone to try to help the bench.
This season probably means Ernie Grunfeld isn't going anywhere. Which is a shame because I don't have much confidence in him being able to get what this team needs to take the next step.

I like the idea of keeping him, but he definitely also needs to step up. His outside shooting was missing this past series and he loses his aggression on offense unless we spoon feed him the ball.
We need a backup pg/sg that can space the floor and a goon in the paint. We may be able to get both for the MLE. I actually wouldn't be opposed to letting Bojan go if we had good deals on the table for what we really need.
I'm also not opposed to moving Gortat. I know a lot of forums want us to somehow maneuver to get Paul George or Boogie, but I don't see it happening.
Either way, that bench gotta get better. Outside of Oubre and Bojan, they all can go.

Eh. I'm a little more lenient on Mahinmi. He only played 31 games in the first year of the team being under Brooks. I think if he gets healthy he can be a better defender in the post.
He'll still be overpaid though. ______________________________________________________________________________

Drastic overpay for missing Horford IMO.
Ernie really should have saved his cap money. This season would have been a nice offseason to bolster the bench and possibly swing a decent third player. Now this team is just stuck in limbo. Ted is happy though. He got his money. That is all that matters to him.

In my opinion, Leonsis is loyal to a fault. He's a little too content with moderate success and not aggressive enough to really shoot for championship success.

either two things would happen. The Wizards would be in a terrible state with a bad GM or a true championship contender. I guess floating in the middle is better than nothing. It's frustrating though with a fanbase and a metropolitan area that hasn't seen a winner in so long.
Wizards center Marcin Gortat plans to talk to his agent this summer to determine “if this is the right fit,” tweets Candace Buckner of The Washington Post.
Gortat claims he “did more sacrificing” than anyone and was underappreciated in his role with the team (Twitter link). He is also angry that Washington signed backup Ian Mahinmi to a longer contract than his last summer, saying, “I know how this business works.” (Twitter link)
Gortat still has two seasons and more than $26MM left on his current deal with the Wizards. This isn’t the first time he has been unhappy with his situation in Washington, as he frequently clashed with former coach Randy Wittman. ______________________________________________________________________________

Gortat's value isn't going to be that great and his contract is tough to match.
Best match I could find was Milwaukee if Greg Monroe leaves or wants too much money. Something like Delly and Vaughn for Gortat. Add a couple of guards, one with a lot of playoff experience.
Gortat and Jason Smith for Wes Matthews? Doubt this interests the Mavs.
Gortat for Monta Ellis? Ellis is an improvement at guard but not by much since he seems washed and he doesn't help the perimeter shooting issues.

And the team still couldn't break 50 wins or get to the conference finals. He gotta go....
It's unfortunate that the whole team can't be thrown away though cause most everybody is expendable. Be nice if they could turn Otto into a first round pick maybe but that is not gonna happen.

with a little foresight, any self-respecting NBA GM could've seen that Mahinmi contract becoming an albatross. Now you're handcuffed entering free agency
