back.

If he agrees to a trade, its only gonna be a big city with a chance to win. Who is that? Golden State, Houston and LAC? Maybe Boston?

Only team i see that would do it is LAC and if we not getting Blake/Cp3 or Deandre whats the point for the knicks?

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

He threw everyone else that he could throw under the bus...until he got to Melo. Now he is trying to throw Melo under the bus. ... because that will be the only way to explain why his personnel moves have not yielded better results.....They obviously need more time and more pieces- but they have a good coach and some young pieces that will work. But Melo is not going for it.

I think what will end up coming out of the meeeting is Rose being traded.

that would actually give the Knicks something that they'd want in return.

I also don't see what Feel has done worthwhile besides draft The Zinger.

hence why it's somewhat of a big story, along with the fact of course that the Knicks are currently toxic pond scum.

I know everyone seemed to think it'd be Feel doing that while waiting out Jeanie usurping Jim Buss, but that bus has now left the station.

Why would the Knicks pay him 24 million for more of this?

Outside of the fact that they're, ya know, the Knicks?

Starts with talk about the Sixers/Knicks game, goes into the Knicks future, starts talking about Feel around 5:45, Kevin Pelton says it explicitly from about the 6:10-7:00 minute mark.

to feel about it. But that really isn't a big deal.

all he said is if the knicks feel that way(the way that's in the article) they should have a convo with him about it.

Melo ain't say nothing earth shattering but the headlines are making it seem like he did.

Nobody needed a Charly Rosen article to know that Phil would trade melo if he could. He's done everything he can to alienate him this season.

And neither team will give up too much for him. At this point, the Knicks will probably go full on tank, let Zingis sit to heal his Achillies, let Rose gun his way to a new contract...with another team, and collect L's with the intent on adding a top 5 pick to draft one of the PG's that look good and pair him with Zingis.

Knicks will accept expiring contracts and deferred picks for Melo (I smell Rondo+garbo+picks) because the bulls won't part with anything of consequence and LA is not parting with Blake for him (probably something like Redick, Crawford and Brice Johnson). Knicks will probably trade cawford knowing another contender would take him on.

IF he's traded at all, these are the only places I see him being willing to go. He's either gonna play with Wade or CP3 (#BANANA BOAT!).

Drummond? Jimmy Butler? Blake Griffin? I don't see those deals having any chance. If that's what the Knicks are looking for, they should start being nicer to 'Melo.

I doubt Ainge would deal Jae and Smart but adding in the Nets 2018 pick? Deal's dead right there.

Also, LOL at this guy calling Courtney Lee a discount Avery Bradley (especially since he makes 3 million more a year than AB.) He also seems to forget that the Celtics had Courtney a few years ago and they weren't wild about him. I doubt Ainge has much interest in bringing him back on his latest contract.

Ainge overvalues Jae because he's good and on a sweet contract. I think at best he offers something like Jae, Rozier, Amir, and the C's protected 2018 first rounder.

EDIT: And as I noted in the other thread, Charlotte with Gilchrist, Marvin Williams, and maybe a pick or Frank might make some sense.

The Toronto deal makes some sense if the Raptors can swing another deal to land a center. But a team looking to land 'Melo isn't going to be replacing their current franchise player with him. They'll be looking to add him alongside their current #1 and #2 options.

Is it really that hard for you, major sports site, to build your own?

The trade checker and salary grids are two things that I would think would be no brainers at this point. I'm still stunned at how smaller sites have done so much with salaries and salary caps while the major sites don't have much of anything. I wonder if maybe the leagues put the kibosh on it.

he was so adamant to get out of Denver, granted he was much younger then, but SO adamant that he overlooked all the obvious reasons he would stay, including the fact that he was so good at that point in his career Denver could rightfully demand New York sell the farm for him.

but he was only so adamant because he knew New York had the pieces, and he'd made it pretty clear he'd go to New York that summer anyway (another reason it's a little baffling New York made that trade just to get him there sooner). I can't remember if he had an NTC then; he probably didn't and so he probably pushed a little harder for that deal to ensure he went where he wanted right away rather than waste a few months somewhere else if Denver was desperate for an ROI, but ultimately he had free reign there and he pushed hard for New York no matter the consequences.

I say all that to say I won't be surprised if he leaves, and I won't be surprised with whatever haul New York pulls in for him, but I will be surprised that he folded on the dream of New York basketball. it's always come off like it meant a lot to him, especially that year where they were a great regular season basketball team, and those first few months when he and Amare were playing at peak levels, scoring 30 points and getting MSG hyped like it hadn't been in years and years. I could very easily see him saying "you'll either be great with me or terrible with me but you damn sure won't be either without me so you better decide how you want these next two years to go and get on that bandwagon," and just stick around purely because he's on a great contract and loves living in New York, playing for MSG, W/L column be damned (as a Melo fan I hate to say that, but it'd be the ultimate proof he only tangentially cares about winning an NBA title compared to merely being a great basketball player with a legacy).

cba was gonna be up the summer he was opting out, and owners were talking hard caps and all kindsa shit.

trade to knicks under old cba, instant 3 yr ..I wanna say 54 mil don't quote me but it was sizable.

People were hearing max deals of 6 years 60 or some goofy shit after CBA negotiations so he was like fuck and that, I need my bread now.

Ultimately, forgetting all that...

The knicks could have bought out chauncey for 4.3, had 11m in space, and amnestied amare.

They amnestied Chauncey.

That was it.

Maybe LaLa has something to do with it, maybe NY itself has something to do with it, maybe tech stuff he's doing has something to do with it, but dude ain't really tryna leave.

Id be shocked if he was traded.

But the word is Woj's sources are agents right? If so, his tweets make sense saying that Melo had a calm meeting with Phil where he emphasized he wants to saty in NY and he loves it here.

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/knicks-deal-carmelo-anthony-celtics-clippers-article-1.2956386

"The Knicks and Clippers are discussing a deal for Carmelo Anthony that does not include Chris Paul, Blake Griffin or DeAndre Jordan going to New York, the Daily News has learned.

The Knicks, according to a source, are open to trading Anthony to Los Angeles even if they don't get one of the Clippers' Big 3 in return.

In fact, the Knicks are prohibited from acquiring Blake Griffin due to a complicated rule in the collective bargaining agreement. The rule states that a team cannot have two Designated Rookie Max extensions on your roster acquired via a trade at any time. Derrick Rose falls under that category.

In order to do so the Clippers would have to trade approximately $27 million in salary to fit Anthony under their cap.

A Clippers deal for Anthony would likely include one or even two players from the group of Jamal Crawford, J.J. Redick or Austin Rivers, who is the son of Clippers head coach Doc Rivers.

No deal is imminent and, in fact, the Knicks will likely seek a better offer since the NBA trade deadline is Feb. 23.

...

The big stumbling block is that Anthony has a no-trade clause and has the power to veto any deal.

Last week, Anthony told Knicks president Phil Jackson that he did not want to be traded.

However, the Knicks appear to be operating under the assumption that if they find a good spot for Anthony he may reconsider waiving his no-trade clause. Anthony is close with Chris Paul and owns a home in Los Angeles."

Unless the Clippers agreed to eat Noah's contract and gave up like 10 unprotected picks.

Not wild about 'Melo on the Celtics. Our problems this year are consistent defense and rebounding.
