"Your All Time Favorite Ass Whuppin Landmarks"

Because there are certain games in sports that stick out in my head. If I want to say one team really beat the brakes off another, inevitably I'm referencing the following games.

CFB: Da U 46 Texas 3. This is really the only acceptable answer in college football. Whatever other shit you're thinking of, that team did not beat their opponent as bad as Miami beat Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

CBB: Pick the UNLV game: finals v. Duke or the next year at Arkansas.

NBA: 96-54, Lakers/Spurs 2001, and the 2014 Finals

NFL: Bears 46 Pats 10

Soccer: as a relative newcome, i don't really have one, but the way Argentina worked us this summer is a contender

What's yours?

that said, the Mexico 1970 final dismantling of Italy by Pele and them, with what might be the GOAT world cup goal* to conclude it, deserves a mention

at club level, the trouncing of Cruyiff's Barca by Capello's Milan in the 1994 CL final comes to mind. That really hurt my feelings, as I was rooting for Barcelona and thought they had a chance given all the injuries/absences on the Milan side...but those early 90s Milan teams were just plain nasty and that night they showed no mercy whatsoever. I remember Marcel Desailly beasting all over the field in particular (I did not care much for le grand Marcel back then).

*definitely top 3, at any rate

It's happened before, and sadly madrid has also beaten Barça 5-0 as well

but the last one, where Mou and CR7 were humiliated, disgraced, violated, and defiled at the Camp Nou was a

and if you're down with real madrid, then fuck you too!"
of epic biblical genocidal proportions

The 16-point win at the Dean Dome in 2013 wasn't as epic an ass-whupping, but I watched it with Chris Duhon buying drinks for every Duke fan at the bar and Antawn Jamison sitting next to me looking salty as fuck the whole time. Antawn's girl wasn't even talking to him-- it was one of those losses that was so humiliating that your girl knows you just need to be left alone.

Also, honorable mention must go to Duke-Maryland in 2009 and 2010, after Vasquez foolishly said Cameron Indoor was "his house" after being defended by Greg Paulus for two years... then made look silly when having to face Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith instead. I was there for the 2009 win right after he made those comments. I'm pretty sure Duke won by over 40. It was the best ass whupping I've personally witnessed in Cameron in my life.

and wasn't the spread teased down to 2 pts by kickoff?

incidentally, dumb niggas continually putting (and losing) their money on pey-pey to come through in big postseason games is why the house always won.

With no running game to help him keep the vaunted Seahawks D balanced.

But yea - it for sure was on Brady's shoulders had the Seahawks scored off that miracle catch by Kearse. All his fault.

Derek Anderson got injured & Admiral couldn't stay on the floor b/c of Shaq thus Tim was going to battle w/ Antonio Daniel who was basically a rich man's Smush Parker. That team was as overmatch as the 60 win Hawks were against the Cavs so it's really not worth celebrating.

This will be the biggest college football blowout I will ever see in my lifetime, they could have had 80 but 62-24 wasn't bad. That was a damn good UF team that won the title the next year.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yngpcemjkww

I'll echo your "Super Bowl Shuffle" Bears over Patriots and 1990 UNLV over Duke

Baseball was the 1998 Yankees, WS Sweep and absolute demolition throughout the year, you could pick quite a few individual games

Besides that, yeah...that Bears 46-10 Super Bowl win. The song. The Fridge. The defense. The beatdown. It was crazy. It was one of the first huge sports big moment ass whoopins I remember as a kid.

More recently, Seattle clowning the hell out of Old Man Omaha and Denver in the Super Bowl is up there too. There were just so many fatality-level big plays. Remember Kam's tackle on DT to kill a drive?

So many folks watched the whole first half in denial that Denver was eating it. 0-2. 0-5. 0-8. "Well, if Denver can just put together a dri"...nope. Pick 6. Oh man.

Then, after halftime, it was 'Well...if Denver can make a stop here score, maybe they could at least have a chance to make it a gam'...NOPE! Sweet sweet Percy Harvin hit em with the kickoff return TD for the nails and super glue in the coffin. Then it just became a matter of if Denver would be allowed to score. And when they did, that's exactly what it looked like...like a donation.

I'm not even sure I'd call myself a newcomer in terms of actually following this sport (tho still played the sport better than prolly all the OKS soccer heads)...but didn't Germany just win a World Cup game in front of a stadium of Brazilians by like eight goals a couple years ago?

Pens go down 2 games to 1, win games 4 and 5 in high scoring games 5-3 and 6-4

Game 6 they go to Minnesota and put an 8-0 ass whooping on to win the cup.

I'll never forget that. As a kid, so exciting knowing that quickly we were winning the cup that night.

The Wings were supposed to have the firepower to counteract Lemaire's trap and the "Interchangeable flock of forwards." But the Devils swept that ass, including the Kozlov hit in a 4-2 demolishing at the Joe, and two straight 5-2s to clinch the series at the Meadowlands.

But a sweep over a Scotty Bowman-coached team that was supposed to be able to talent past the Devils defense, and that included THIS HIT:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04ehv4xepJw

Man, cmon. 8-0 as a clinching 6th is nice, but a dominant sweep ending in two straight 5-2s . . .

I forget the details, but all of this crazy stuff had to happen in order for this game to even matter for the Eagles, I think three other teams won their games. Anyways, I was at the game, and everyone found out right before the start of the game that the game was going to matter, and then we put a whoopin' on the boys to get into the playoffs.
