No idea what this means for the Browns, though. Are they just going to stick with RG3 for a year and hope it works out?

either Hue doesn't like Wentz and Goff, or he thinks he can turn port-a-potty water into wine like with A.J. McCarron. let him see what he can do with RG3 for a year and with 5 extra picks in the top 100.

And with Bradford essentially having a 1 year deal, niether of them has to come in and play year 1.

Compared to the Rams, we gave up one less 2nd rounder and a 4th rounder instead of a 3rd...and got back a 4th for next year. I think that's a pretty good deal with 2 potentially top flight QBs in the draft.

i'd much rather have the more developed guy. the rawer the prospect, the more i want surrounding talent around him.

but the same basic logic applies. without competent talent around him, only 1 qb prospect a decade stands a chance of reaching his destiny, the guys like luck and peyton and so on. neither goff nor wentz is nearly that level of prospect, so both are fucked.

and I don't think their first rounder will be a top 10 pick next year. of course you never know how these things will work out, but I'm okay with it. if you think wentz is a franchise guy then it's not too much.

no line, no weapons, and now no way to fix problems. that sounds like a great environment to turn a raw talent into a pro bowler.

they were coached terribly last year. they added a couple good offensive lineman and they won't be running the same play over and over this year which should help. ryan Matthews, sproles, ertz, Jordan Matthews are all good weapons, and agholor could be. not having a majority of backups starting for their oline will help. they still need to build more but I don't think they are as pathetic as you make them seem.

but a team that has patience and a good veteran qb in front of him can do a lot worse this draft...

urban really fucked him (& us) by not telling him to go last year. that was selfish of him (imo)

goff will be better than wentz

but neither are worth going 1 or 2

the combine.....Camp Gruden...... listened to both QBs talk...... look at the measurables.....

it's obvious who should be picked at #1.....

but the fact that Wentz is not a D-1 guy, and nobody has been picked #1 overall from a non D-1 since 1974.... people are saying the top pick is Goff based on things that have less to do with on the field projection, and more than people making assumptions based upon where the 2 guys played in college...

I won't be horribly disappointed if the Rams take Goff....

but I will be disappointed because I'm certain the pick should be Wentz...

On Luck it was "can't miss"

On Griffin it was "electric"

On Jameis it was "risky but incredibly high ceiling"

On Mariota it was "limited but great makeup"

...

On Wentz and/or Goff, what is it? None of these talking heads seem especially enthused about these guys. They were projected first round sure, but they weren't obvious top picks until the Rams and then Eagles moved up.

I'd take this deal if I were the Browns. I know the dominant thinking seems to be that this draft is not real deep at QB and next year may be even thinner but that's a big haul, mainly because they still get a top-10 pick this year. Obviously the Eagles are betting big on one guy here so that will decide if it was worth it for them, but I already like it for the Browns.

for a guy to sit for too long...

if you sit him too long...the front office and coach is going to get heat for giving up that much to have a guy sit on the bench when they could have just let the 2 guys they had just signed battle it out...

it just seems odd to sign 2 guys that some would consider at least start candidates to pick a QB #2 overall.... Usually you would sign maybe one of those guys, and a less expensive back up type...

looks like Bradford isn't happy with this.....can't imagine he signed with a team that told them they were also going to sign chase Daniel..and trade a grip to draft a QB...

Niners may holler at the Eagles about Bradford.

You want him to start immediately? Yeah, that works out often.

What has Bradford done to be butt hurt about being in a healthy competition? It's quite possible they move Daniel at this point, obviously they made that move without this one being in place.

I don't like the trade but I couldn't give a fuck less what two totally unproven guys are in their feelings about. Anyone there will have every opportunity at the starting job short and long term.

Whichever QB comes in will get a year to learn and transition to the NFL, then start next season. Pederson knows Daniels well enough to understand that he's a good backup to have but not a starter.

This strategy is damn near full proof. This QB sits for a minimum of two years and grows within one offense. The team his rights so he could sit for all four if need be. By the time he starts he should know the playbook like the back of his hand and be ready to plow if things go according to plan.

Some of yall could say well why pick a guy knowing he won't start for two years. Look at the Brock and ARod. Sitting the guy forces them to be great or overpaid after showing some promise. Anywhoo, yall need to think positive.

Some of it was the anti-Mcnaab crew, but alot of it was fatigue. But it was all over the place. Cysed those 300yd games. His footwork, his "accuracy and quick release", and feel for the game. Blah, blah, blah. Vick taking that job probably added 8-10 years to that dude's life.

and in Foles's case, the accuracy thing got blown up when SANCHEZ was outplaying him in that regard

they traded 5 and got back 2. so that's 3 draft picks spread out of over three years. a lot of picks in the 3rd, 2nd, and even 1st round don't pan out.

legit #1 = anyone not foles. that was de facto.

plenty of OKP's hated foles so much as to rationalize sanchez, who sucked also.

i'll concede that i thought foles caught way too much hate at the time, but his brief rams run pretty much confirms 2013 as an aberration. (and yet jeff fisher is still employed.)

I don't remember anyone saying he was a legit #1. Those are two very different things.

For anyone who watched Foles and didn't just look at his numbers (and this isn't revisionist, the most prominent Eagles fans on here were anti-Foles), it was evident he was fools gold. He was not only throwing into giant windows but for every pass he made, he missed 2...his accuracy under 5 yards and over 15 was terrible, really sloppy footwork and a poor sense of pressure or how to deal with. Chip would be on the sideline just frustrated as all hell.

blame him. It's the opportunity of a lifetime, I don't see Paxton Lynch getting the reins of a team that can win 11 games with a solid, experienced QB. Sanchez is too unreliable to be taken seriously.

can be your QB of the future, then they didn't give up a whole lot. The Eagles rarely pick in the top 10, so this may be our best opportunity to move up in the draft.

It's significant in the fact that Roseman's and Pederson's job security is tied to directly to this pick. No more stop gaps. This is the future. Unless our defense turns into the GANG GREEN of the early 90s, we have no future without a solid 'franchise' QB.

Part of me was holding out hope for Sammy B, but he doesn't inspire that much confidence given his track record. Maybe we squeeze out one more great year from him and then recoup one or some of those draft picks. Bradford's deal was essentially made for this exact scenario.

You are scared of a career backup and rookie taking your spot? You are entering your 7th NFL season and have generated a grand total of 25 W's and NEVER led one of your teams to a winning record. You have a career rating of just over 80. You have made $1 million per touchdown pass you have thrown in your career! Among the 20 QBs who have started at least 60 games since Bradford entered the league, he ranks:

19th in Comp%
20th in Rating
20th in Y/A
20th in Wins
20th in TDS

Dog, shut the entire fuck up. You are the most overpaid athlete in the game. Yes, you have lots of potential. But you haven't proved shit as a legit starting QB in the NFL. STFU and play ball. You play well and you will get traded next year. Good luck trying to get a better deal elsewhere.

Thing that kills me here...I mean, Bradford knew the Eagles were looking hard at QBs. He knew the team wasn't committed to him for the long-term as evidenced by his contract. Yet Bradford and his agent are still deluded enough to think he's some coveted elite QB.

worth it. I don't care what ESPN says, the defending champs will need something better than Mark Sanchez as a stop gap between Peyton Manning & Paxton Lynch.
A QB opening on the defending Super Bowl champs is the opportunity of a lifetime for a guy like him.

Him & his agent was probably on some "aight they NEED a QB, SO A DEAL IS DEFINITELY GONNA HA-wait, WHO THE FUCK DID THEY PICK?!?!".

Probably hating on them young QB's like a 40-something jawn hating on her ex-boyfriend dating a young college grad with bigger breastesses.

I guess he figures he already won life's lottery as the last #1 pick to cake out before they changed the rookie pay scale, so why not double-down and just keep chasing absurd paydays. He's playing with house money as it is.

The dynamic of knowing Wentz/Goff is long gone by the time pick 8 arrives so you're psyched at that being a rookie OLine/RB/WR that'll help you ball out, to knowing you'll be DONE with your replacement waiting right there.. seems to be jarring as fuck on him.

At the same time, he gotta man the fuck up. He'll be a starter somewhere but not for the asking price he's begging for. Ball the fuck out and -someone- will make a price grab for him. Won't be his dream scenario for going to Denver but at this point soiling in his own piss with a frowny face in the corner isn't doing shit but having GM's everywhere second think his character & locker roominess.

even with a multitude of injuries and shit for receivers when healthy, wentz is as good and his team has had as much "success."

dak is romo 2.0 in terms of his status in the league. solid starter, not a franchise guy.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
