"J.R. Smith: LeBron a more hands-on leader than Carmelo "

Leave it to J.R. Smith to sum up the difference between Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James.
The outspoken shooting guard is uniquely situated to comment on the contrasting leadership abilities of Anthony, his longtime teammate with the Knicks and Nuggets, and James, the alpha dog for his new Cavaliers club.
“ is more of an ‘I’ll show you,’ as opposed to Bron is more of an ‘I’ll tell you, then I’ll show you,'” the mercurial Smith said, according to Bleacher Report, after scoring 20 points, including six 3-pointers, after the Cavaliers pasted the Bulls, 108-94, for their third consecutive win.
A slight to the Knicks’ $124 million man for being too hands-off? A famous free spirit feeling the overbearing hand of the King? Hard to say. But Smith’s game has perked up since Phil Jackson shipped him to Cleveland.

Since going 0-for-5 in his first game with the Cavaliers, Smith is averaging 17 points per game on 46.4 percent shooting — this after averaging 10.9 points per game on 40.2 percent shooting in 24 games for the Knicks before he was traded on Jan. 5.

In line and being a contributor to the team that the Knicks fans/ppl on here have used as a punching bag and a scapegoat as to why Melo and Knicks were doomed to fail? A guy that ppl have always labeled as somewhat of a "loose canon" all of a sudden begins to really be an asset on a contender instead of being viewed as a head case when he is being properly led

Because so far I'm noticing JR Smith is looking pretty good right now w/the Cavs

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Dion Waiters digs on Cavaliers
ESPN.com news services
Updated: January 21, 2015, 12:29 PM ET

Dion Waiters, to put it lightly, is very happy with his new surroundings after being acquired by the Oklahoma City Thunder in a three-team trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

And it all starts on the court.

"Listen," he told the Oklahoman of his new teammates, "they give me the ball. Like, I touch the ball. Like, I actually, like, you know, touch the ball.

"I'm able to feel the game out, knowing when to take the shot, when not to. Like I said, we got a great group of guys on this team who's very unselfish and they want you to be successful. So I think I came into a great situation."

The Thunder acquired Waiters from the Cavaliers in a deal that also involved the New York Knicks on Jan. 6. As part of the deal, which also involved draft picks, the Cavs got J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert, and three players with nonguaranteed contracts -- Alex Kirk and Lou Amundson from the Cavs and Lance Thomas from the Thunder -- were sent to the Knicks.

Through six games since joining the Thunder, Waiters has averaged 12.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.7 steals in 27.3 minutes. He's played as few as 21 minutes and as many as 37 minutes, showing that the Thunder are willing to use Waiters as little or as much as needed.

"They brought me in since day one with love," Waiters told the Oklahoman before Tuesday's 94-86 victory against the Miami Heat. "It seems like I've been here forever. It seems like I've been playing with them forever, too. When I came here, we clicked right away."

And he makes no bones about the difference from Cleveland, where he averaged 10.5 points in 23.8 minutes per game.

"I've always been confident in myself knowing what I can do. It's about having the opportunity to go out there and be able to just play my game and have fun and enjoy it," Waiters told the Oklahoman. "And that's what I'm doing. I'm having fun. I'm enjoying the fresh start. It's a great organization. Great coaches. I couldn't ask for a better situation than what I'm in."

The Thunder are 4-2 since acquiring Waiters and, after falling nine games below the .500 mark earlier this season, have improved to 21-20 heading into Wednesday's game against the Washington Wizards.

"I think the No. 1 reason why he's feeling comfortable is his teammates," Thunder coach Scott Brooks told the Oklahoman. "They have a good group support that he has.

"Every time that we've brought in a guy, whether it's a guy that's made a team off of free agency in training camp, or a guy traded in mid-season, all of our guys have done a great job of opening up their arms and supporting them and wrapping them around them and making them feel comfortable. And I think that's the biggest reason."

THE STATISTICAL EVIDENCE

Waiters was traded on Jan. 5. Thanks to NBA.com, we can actually track touches per game thanks to the recent unveiling of SportVU data. Here's what we've learned.

BEFORE JAN. 5

TOUCHES PER GAME: 35.6
MINUTES PER GAME: 23.7
TIME OF POSSESSION: 1.8 minutes/game
AFTER JAN. 5

TOUCHES PER GAME: 34
MINUTES PER GAME: 27.6
TIME OF POSSESSION: 1.7 minutes/game
Soooooooo, Waiters is playing more minutes in Oklahoma City, yet he's touching the ball less often. THAT'S interesting. Clearly, this shows that ...

Whatever, the eye test wins. A good quote should never be ruined by numbers.

Off the top of my head, he had the ball for (per 36 minutes time of possesion) 2:42 in Cleveland versus the 2:12 in OKC. He can shut the entire fuck up. Matter of fact where's his bitching about not starting in OKC? He's not a starter or really as good as he thinks he is.

Maybe it's all in his head about getting the ball more in OKC, but it clearly seems like a better environment for him than it was in Cleveland. That can work wonders.

3 game winning streak...on the heels of losing 5 straight. They got a lot of problems beyond his struggles.

His minutes are up in OKC and he's on the court at the end of games(made some big plays late in that Utah win) instead of being benched for scrubs like Dellavedova. He looks to have a bigger role in OKC.

he was entitled the moment he drafted by the cavs. he thought he was a "co-star" from day one and came in fat TWO STRAIGHT camps and swore he was starting. him and his stupid fade away 20 footers.

but, i was wrong for pointing it out tho. i was the problem.

i gave that dude more attention on this board than ANY role player deserves. he only gets run here because of me. well, i don't even make posts about him no more. i got what i wanted.

Nobody is comparing them as players.

Acting like JR Smith is a new and better man and better player under Lebron's tutelage is ridiculous. He's the same guy and same player he's always been.

I brought up the 2013 Knicks record to show that JR has played well enough and kept his dumb-assedness under wraps for a little while on successful teams before.

when the Cavs get bounced this year would have been more potent, but your overall point regarding the suspension is valid, at least for the moment. Still opportunity for JR to redeem himself when he gets back from the suspension though.

JR being JR even under LeBron's leadership negates the premise behind the original post. I personally don't think LeBron's at fault for what JR did, but was looking at the merits of the uppage strictly from a board agenda basis.

It's comical watching Knicks fans spitting out all sorts fact-minus-truth statements to vaguely throw shade on LeBron vis-a-vis Melo (before cowering in reverence to Bron when pressed). What's being said about Smith in here is even more erratic. Trade was a win for the Cavs. Bron will go deeper than Melo ever has for the *sixth* time in his career this year.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

In response to Reply # 0

http://nypost.com/2015/04/28/oakley-questions-carmelos-superstar-status/

Charles Oakley isn’t sure the Knicks can build as championship team around Carmelo Anthony.
The rugged former fan favorite said the Knicks need a complete overhaul, and isn’t sure what the team has in the $125 million man Anthony now that he is 30 years old and coming off left knee surgery.
“Is he still a superstar or is he going to be a complimentary player?” the 51-year-old Oakley said Tuesday during BTIG Charity Day on the East Side. “You win games, I don’t know. He made the All-Star game. He played on the All-Star team, but he didn’t play during the season.”
When told Anthony makes superstar money, Oakley scoffed.
“I didn’t give him the contract,” Oakley said. “He won a championship at Syracuse. What’s the potential? They give a lot of people $100 million.”
Oakley saved his most venomous comments for owner James Dolan, who won’t even shake his hand, according to Oakley.
“I think that’s embarrassing. … I can’t even get a ticket to come to the Garden,” he said. “Who’s been saying what they should be doing the last 15 years?”

with him as part of an 1A/1B...but it has alot to do with whats put around him obviously.

Simply looking at his contract is pretty silly bc the cap and max deals are about to explode.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Can still do wonderful things

But he's can't do that "JR Smith as his second best scorer,
still getting them to a 2-seed" shit

Those days are over

That's top 5 status

BTW
OKS was OPENLY PARTYING on his injuries too

OPENLY

And GLORIOUSLY partying

and jabronis comparing him to LeBron James of now is like being mad at working-class folks for daring not to be rich.

or probably just mad about old Nuggets Carmelo agendas back when LeBron was trying to make things happen with Larry Hughes and shit.

If you're gonna fry anything/anyone, fry the Knicks ORG for all those gambles they made that fizzled into thin air, period.

Kind of like the Cavs were with 1st term LeBron, but worse.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

I honestly NEVER fried Melo

I actually like him

and have alot of respect for his game

he doesn't need to prove anything to me.

this is the result of watching the playoffs

and these ?s just popped up

I'm straight now, thanks Cen

FeeL gets the Ls here.

also, I used the search function

didn't find much of a Melo agenda post

so the JR post seemed sufficient.

Carmelo had NOTHING at the top of the roster to help him after Amare's body fell apart weeks after Melo got to NY.

Cleveland, Houston, Dallas(not that they matter) all have more than 1 guy that can play at the top of their rosters before you get to all those role players.

especially considering that 3pt tweet

= FeeLLLLLLLLLLLs

FTR, Shump and JR are getting starter's minutes in CLE (their lineup changes game to game, so I can't say starter literally, and I can't say Dell >>> Prigioni)

I guess the bottom line for me is the optics are very strange

to see all of these former NYKs in this year's playoffs

raises some ???s, IMO.

They were picked up by contenders. If there is an L in there its that feel started the season talking playoffs and they were clearly far away from that w or w.o Melo injury. Once the L's piled up, shedding salary and continuing to pile up L's is the smart move. The Cavs and Rox were headed to the playoffs before they added the knicks players. Of course a contending team would be in the market for those dudes. And prigi is only getting tick bc of the Bev injury.

There are reasons to clown phil, a big one being getting squat for Chandler.

player than Melo but the success and dare I say professionalism that JR in particular has displayed since joining the Cavs is a testament to Bron's leadership...

When I listen to JR talk abt Melo I can tell they're good friends which is why his *critique* of Melo as a leader was pretty tame but reading between the lines he's saying Melo is NOT a leader (Chauncey said the exact thing a few weeks ago)

Case and point: when JR was up partying all nite chasing after Rhianna the night before a crucial playoff gm/series vs the C's two seasons ago, who was the 1st player he told abt this the next day?

Now do you think JR would've told Lebron that he was out all night partying the night before a playoff game?

When JR and that same Knicks *team* decided to wear all blk basically saying the Boston series was over, Melo, as the captan of the team, said he had no idea that they planned to do that

You think anything goes on w/the Cavs team w/o Lebron knowing abt it first...

nearly gave away game 2 (if not for Steph
playing like JR, GW wins easily)

So he'll give you 2 good games.

He'll lose two others. And then he'll be quiet
for the other 3.

That's all we were saying.

Against New Orleans, I think. Might have been the Bobcats.

I forget.

That might have been the meanest game winner that ENTIRE
season out of anyone...shit was like "whoa"

I still can't believe Woodson/'Melo had him averaging damn near
19 POINTS A GAME.

JR SMITH!?!?

PER GAME!?!?

FUCK everyone...that #Knickstape team was a JOY...they were
overachieved so much...what a terrible good team they were

he was in a real nice comfy spot offensively then. Lotta confidence and even getting to the line. As much iso heavy clevelands offense is now, i'm shocked he's not getting iso looks now. He's just chucking up 3's at this point. His 3s to free throw ratio gotta be the worst of all players in the playoffs.

like dude was gonna automatically be someone different from who he was all his life bc he was playing with Lebron??

He had his career breakthrough already.

He had that moment when a basketball person treated him like a son, and gave him the tough love while rewarding him with freedom on the basketball court.

And he had a career year.

And then went back to being the knucklehead and limited basketball player that he is.

Why would ya'll think it'd be different with lebron?

Seriously.

After all the shit cats were talking about how Melo isn't a leader and yadda yadda yadda, and he should've gotten MORE out of JR and Shumpert, and he should've been doing XYZ

When the BEST PLAYER in the LEAGUE can't win a ROUND with those 2 as their 2nd and 3rd best players, that exonerates him. It's hilarious that so many people and media types were bashing Melo for his lack of leadership to get the most out of these guys, but when they're with Lebron, the play the same way, if not WORSE, and all of a sudden he needs more help.

I always say, I don't mind criticism, but be consistent with it...the same set of rules apply...if you gonna bash one dude for something, don't cop pleas for the next dude.

So JR only hit 31% of his shots bc he had to play 3 road games against a good team who decided to bench everyone over 6'9???

enough to beat the Warriors?

Bron got the most out of JR through these playoffs and managed to win some gms in spite of JR

JR played badly in the finals but he was very solid throughout the postseason and played far better for the Cavs than he did for the Knicks or the Nuggets in the playoffs

We've seen better all-star/role players than him fold under the bright hot lights of the finals (Harden in OKC...oh how abt Klay? <----these two are all-stars)

The only thing that was missing was some huge shots from him at least one game this series, to get the Bronnies pumped up and upping old stuff. If JR has ever been on your squad before, you know whats lurking around the corner. Unfortunately, JR never even gave them that false high.

Now, OE...I don't think is even a Knicks fan...hell, I dunno if dude even likes Melo. I think he just takes up causes to keep himself sharp. Cenario has made it abundantly clear that he hates Lebron...so I guess his answer will be tainted. I mean, I've never come across a more consistent Lebron hater ever...online or IRL. Bron could hold a press conference this evening saying that after some tests, it was determined he has Lymphoma. Cenario would be like "Lulz...Lymphoma??? Big ass nigga couldn't even have pancreatic cancer??? Stop crying. Shit, Melo already had cancer...in the form of JR Smith". So, Rex...I come to you, my dude...cuz we go way back. What is it that Melo supporters want with this agenda? Is it pure hate for Lebron. Is it that yall want Melo to be mentioned in the placement talks with Magic, Bird, Kobe, Timmy, Bron, etc? Is it that yall feel Melo is Bron's equal as a player? Or...is it just a na, na, nee, na, na about JR and Shump? Like, on some the nerve of them thinking Bron could get something out of those two ninjas that Melo couldn't? Help me out.

So,

>for Lebron. Is it that yall want Melo to be mentioned in the
>placement talks with Magic, Bird, Kobe, Timmy, Bron, etc? Is
>it that yall feel Melo is Bron's equal as a player?
It's not even that. Most of us recognize that for all the hate, Melo is a top ten PLAYER. You got cats that hate him for no reason, say he's just a gunner and that's it, when it's not the case. There's literally no reason to hate dude, but cats hate him anyway.

Melo is who he is...a great player that gets bashed for not being Lebron, but has yet to EVER get the kind of help that Lebron, or even other star players have. He's never had a big 3...shit he was supposed to team up with Amare, who was a shell of himself once Melo got there.

Or...is
>it just a na, na, nee, na, na about JR and Shump? Like, on
>some the nerve of them thinking Bron could get something out
>of those two ninjas that Melo couldn't? Help me out.
That's the point...not even Lebron James could get more out of those dudes. Cats ripped Melo for not making his teammates better, when Lebron literally went through what Melo has for 2+ seasons. JR was still JR, and Shump was still Shump, and most every Knick fan said Melo can't win if you're leaning on those 2 to be your 2nd and 3rd best players. But even if you look up and down this post, you'll find cats that still wanna bash him.

Everytime something happens to Melo, cats on this board laugh at him, rip him, call him all sorts of XYZ and so forth. There's a few cats (you included) that can look at things objectively, but most just hate dude. They say Paul George is better, they say other cats is better (Celery even said Nic Batum was better). And all Knick fans ask is that people be consistent with their argument. If you're a Lebron fan, it's hard to say that Melo doesn't make his team better when his 2nd best player was JR, and yet he didn't get any further with JR as his 2nd best player. You can't say Kobe took way too many shots and shot a low % in a Finals game (which they won) but tout Lebron, when he shot terribly too.

Even in this post, JR says something and people take it as gospel. People questioned his leadership when he couldn't get past Indiana with JR as his 2nd best player, and RAYMOND FELTON (think about that one). Chandler was banged up and got smashed by Hibbert, Melo averaged 28 & 7 and cats STILL blamed him.

Another post had Shane Battier and Jared Dudley calling him overrated...where Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant and a lot BETTER players are saying he's top 10...but cats heed those words from JARED DUDLEY and rip dude.

Personally, I like Lebron. I like Carmelo more, (Syracuse fan), and he's a Knick...so when a lot of the Lebron stans start bashing Melo for NO REASON, and don't even take things into account, cats wait for their opportunity to pounce on Lebron stans.

There's fans of Lebron that are cool fans (like you and some others), that won't bash another player (too much, unless he deserved it) and look at things from a full lens...but then you get cats that like to "party" when something goes wrong with their favorite player. I don't say a word when cats get hurt...but when Melo got hurt people laughed and blamed his conditioning

I have no problem with cats hating on Melo...have at it. It's all in fun for the most part. But don't get mad or run when your favorite player is under similar circumstances and comes up short.

So getting within two gms of the championship = not getting out the 2nd round smh

And it's not just that Kobe has ALWAYS shot a low FG% but he he does so oftentimes at the expense of his teammates...Lebron HAD to jack up shots for his team to have a chance

Kobe has been a jacker even when he had quality teammates around him...also, the differnce w/him and Lebron is that he wouldn't have grabbed 12rpg nor would he have dished out 9 dimes per game...so the comparison isn't the same (Feel said Bean doesn't impact or control the game beyond a scorimg standpoint)

There's just no room for agenda-less discussion here. This ^^^^ is more proof. I think we all fall into it from time to time....

But think about it. U just compared Melo's run with JR vs. Bron's run with JR.....But when u read the fine print u see that Melo went into the playoffS with JR as his second best player while James went into the playoffs with Ky and Love before those injuries to the Cavs' two starters....

I for one think that LeBron James is easily the best player of his generation. He is flat out superior to Melo. Even as a Bulls fan I know what James alone can do to a team....But I also saw the partying going on when JR was thriving with the Cavs (as a role player) before he crashed back down to earth when he was asked to be a secondary scorer like he was with the Knick fans....

O_E is crazy like a fox and says some pretty laughable shit. But his Melo agenda has been dead on....

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

>he wasn't even the cavs #2 in the finals, dogg.

Which is why it's even all the more mind boggling that these Knicks/Melo fans insists on trying to prove that Bron didn't get anymore from JR than Melo did which is just flat out false and stupid...

The fact of the matter is Lebron had a committee of Cavs who (tried) to fill in as the #2 option...and those players weren't exactly better than JR...which further shows how Lebron made EVERYONE on the Cavs better and managed to get this Cavs squad within two gms of winning a chip

If JR wasn't no. 2 in the Finals he damn sure was asked to be THE secondary perimeter scorer....It got so bad though that a scrub from off the bench (Delly) was given more responsibilities than a guy that everyone felt could get his own shot (JR).

This is what happened: James got a lot out of JR when Ky was still on the floor. But when he was asked to do more when Ky's kneecap got injured he floundered just like he did with the Knicks. I think the I TOLD U SO crowd has a lot to crow about....

U don't have to be a Melo STAN or a Knicks fan (which I am certainly not as a Chi dude) to see the irony of all this....

And u still come to THIS ^^^^^^ conclusion with the reality that James is considerably superior to Melo. And that still doesn't take away the fact that all of the over the top Melo bashing has been side-eye worthy....

the fact that JR wasn't the #2 option when cleveland needed him to be makes it worse, but they keep bringing it up like Cleveland didn't want him to score or he didn't get the minutes or opportunities lol.

plus, this very post was made by a non knick fan comparing MElo and Lebron but we aren't allowed to respond bc the 2 aren't in the same class of player? Then, stop comparing them lol

then wanna juxtapose the 2 players all of the time.

You can't do both.

There's no, stop being unfair and comparing him to Bron's accomplishments and laughing when he doesn't win a championship.

If they just stayed in their lane and compared Melo with Durant or Paul George or Rose or CP3 or Dwight or Harden..... They'd be perfectly fine.

Anthony was asked by Broussard whether he's bothered by the idea that he's not known to be in the same class as LeBron James and Durant -- the men widely recognized as the top two players in the NBA.

"I know, personally, I'm there. It doesn't bother me," he said. "These are all people that maybe never accomplish anything. That just sit back and write articles all day long about what they see. They're kind of living through us out there on the basketball court.

^^^this is why it's fair to measure and critique him according to not just Lebron but Durant too because he said he KNOWS he's in that elite company

Okay. You and other Knick fans compare Melo and Bron because of posters like Vee Lover.

>>>ME: So ALL of your Bron hate & posts stems from maybe 2 posters? >>>Makes sense.

The mad is bubbling here. Why? I don't know.

>>>ME: Nobody is comparing them besides vee lover and who else? >>>Knicks fans bring up Melo the most on here.
>>>He ain't play in months fam.

I clarify again for you. Melo has been basketball irrelevant for months yet you still posting about him while framing him with Lebron's achievments. Why?

>>>YOU: Ive disliked bron before Melo came to the knicks. I didn't >>>care about melo until he joined the knicks.

Okay, you hate Bron. Fine. WTF does that have to do with Melo though. These two can be 2 mutually exclusive thoughts.

Example: I don't like D-Wade. I like the Wizards. I am not on some, Beal scoring 30 in the offs. D-Wade home. LMAO!

Get it?

>>>ME: So why did you lump yourself in with all of the Knick fans >>>comparing Bron and Melo?

I get that...but that doesn't happen. People on this board say a RACK of cats are better...and Knick fans and Melo fans come in to defend him. I've heard cats say Paul George, Nic Batum, James Harden, amongst others.

The response in THIS post is that Knicks fans KNEW about JR and Shump, but Lebron stans REFUSED to see that shit...and blamed Melo for not getting the most out of JR and Shump. All cats are saying is you can't roast one guy for one thing and cop pleas for another guy for not doing the SAME THING

In other words, keep the argument consistent.

>>>>YOU: bc we are responding to people that are comparing like

>Another straight forward question.
The answer is cats compare Melo to EVERYONE, including Lebron. In this post alone, someone (NOT a Knick fan) said something about JR saying Lebron's a better leader, and we responded. And then there's a dogpile

So it's not just 2 posters. Cats will say slick shit, and there's MULTIPLE posters dogpiling...and then when someone responds (most of the time with facts or nuance), there's the umad train, or point out some other nonsense.

>>>>YOU: your comprehension skills are terrible dog. might
>wanna get >>>that checked out
>

>I clarify again for you. Melo has been basketball irrelevant
>for months yet you still posting about him while framing him
>with Lebron's achievments. Why?
Knicks fans and Melo fans DIDN'T bring him up. LEBRON stans brought up Melo, and cats were laughing and "partying"...until Lebron couldn't win with JR...then it's plea copping time.

This post was started by a Lebron stan and a Melo hater...as most posts about Melo are.

>Okay, you hate Bron. Fine. WTF does that have to do with Melo
>though. These two can be 2 mutually exclusive thoughts.
>

If someone said some dumb shit like Patrick Beverly is more critical to winning than John Wall, then you'd be up to defend your boy too.

Shit, you defend RONDO when I (and others) go at him...so it's no different. But I haven't posted about Rondo in a minute, and even with my hate, I can look at him objectively...the Melo haters and Lebron stans don't.

I can't speak for Cenario, but him, me and a bunch of Knicks fans just defend Melo from irrational hate. Some of us are the first to say why is he shooting that, or he should have done XYZ...but most of us (including the playoff run) realized that he can't win with JR as a #2, a banged up Chandler, RAYMOND FELTON, and Jason Kidd not hitting a shot in 2 months.

Melo (nor anyone else) shouldn't be absolved from a good roast...but if you want to roast a guy for some reason, the next guy shouldn't be absolved from a roast for the SAME reason.

Kind of like a reverse Kobe situation. Now agenda wise, he is sort of a "neo Kobe". It is what it is.

But really, Carmelo isn't ... or rather shouldn't be a polarizing figure. He simply doesn't get that much attention nowadays outside of Knick fandom except those who seize onto him for the above mentioned LeBron-related reasons.

As for the LeBron talk... ughhhhhh... dammit. I'm tired of talking about it.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

I mean, I should be partying for ANY Knick to get the business....lol....I live in New York. And when I see that Knicks logo I laugh my ass off....

But even I know that all the Melo bashing has been out of pocket. I would love to have that dude on MY team. I still think Melo not coming to the Bulls was a mistake that both Anthony and Chicago will be looking back on and saying "what if...."

I see your overall point in regards to the extent of bashing he gets on here, but no one is above criticism, especially if they are a top notch player than doesn't produce results. Some of the lack of success in NY is out of Carmelo's hands (Amare injuries, lackluster front office moves since he's been here), but he can't totally be absolved of getting bashed if you hold him to the high standards he's held up to as a top level player.

I personally kind of look at him side eyed because he isn't a top level defensive player, but that's I grew up watching basketball in the 90's, so I prefer tough nosed defensive minded players, which is a subjective taste on my part. He gets some share of the blame for what's wrong with the Knicks currently, but I'm not idiotic enough to believe Carmelo is the absolute reason why the Knicks currently have major issues, and that's considering the fact I'm not a huge fan of his individually.

for better or for worse with the agenda stuff. I don't like it either for the most part and I don't get the motivation behind it, but it is what it is, weather it's regarding Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, or this nearly 200 response deep post about post-Finals-loser-Segway-riding JR Smith.

I mean, Carmelo has had his moments of sipping Vicks 44 and Mad Dog 20/20 (and the GIFs to prove it). If you're mad at him for that, cool. Especially if you're a Knicks fan who's tired of the bullshit. If any team whose pain I understand as a fan, it's the Knicks.

Being mad at him for not being LeBron in 2015 is akin to being mad that Ford finally ditched that bullshit live-rear axle in the Mustang after 10000 years.

I'm surprised that there's not much siceage now that Melo's Knicks spoiled the Cavs home opener.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

but yeah...OKS is the only place in the known galaxy where not being on the level of Lebron James is used as a pejorative.

I'm quite certain, LeBron is quantifiably a better leader in every way than Carmelo.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.
