But he comes off as humble, grateful and a good sport.
It's much easier to root for him (outside of the ring) than, say, Donaire. Donaire's an American-born kid, but he's standoffish with an attitude towards boxing that can feel like he can take-it-or-leave-it. Their upbringings obviously play a role, but that's what made them who they are.
Pacquiao is no saint, but his dumb shit is associated to things like infidelity or tax cheat or cockfighting or whatever. He's not a wife beater or an arrogant prick, typical things people really hate on Floyd for.
So yeah, I do care for him as a person. He literally came from nothing, is absolutely grateful for what he has, and does a ton for his community. Not exactly rocket science here.
Edit: And there's talk Donaire wants to have his next fight in the PI. He'll pick up some fans, but I'm almost certain he won't make a splash there. Filipinos aren't boxing fans, they're Manny fans.
-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.
