Not that I was watching from a great angle, but you have to think the way he's pitching, the Royals' best chance is to force the play at the plate. Plus, how fucking exciting would it have been to come down to a play at the plate for a 10th inning?

Then again, since I didn't see a good replay, it's very possible that they made the right call. But I'm trying to ignore possible logic and I'm focusing on how awesome it would've been had the series hinged on a play at the plate.

There's the part of me that feels like the catcher dropping it is more likely than Bumgarner giving up another hit, but that's not my brain talking.

Gordon is just pulling into third when the cutoff man gets the ball. No chance he scores there

And what do you do when he is gunned down at the plate and the game is much closer to over than with him standing on third? You would have to explain to a team that was one win away from being world champions that you thought they were too shitty to get a guy home from third.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

My brain tells me I'm kidding when I say the odds of the catcher dropping it are better than the odds of the next batter hitting off Bumgarner. Because, you know, math.

During this tigers run to see a team win 3 in 5 and we have shit to show is just so disheartening. At least royals didn't win, that would have been way worse

he's a hero to baseball fans in Nebraska the way Erstad was before him, and he's sustained that momentum in the majors the way his predecessor, Joba, never could. We all felt so bad for him that he was going to be the last out of the Series especially considering his knee'd been thumped so ridiculously earlier in the game but them, BLAM!, hope sprang eternal. KC taking the title felt like destiny again.

Then Perez had to go and swing at just about every pitch that came his way like some kind of hero.

In the mid-to-late 80s to early 90s speed was the trend. They were trying to turn athletes into baseball players. Guess what...hitting a baseball if hard! So then baseball moved into power mode and the roid era was born to until somebody the media and "keepers of the game" hated basically said "I'll show you!"

The game got "cleaned up" power numbers dipped and boom - a new formula. All the teams left were basically the same. They had starting pitching that was only asked to go 6 innings, and then bullpens that had one guy after another that throws 160 MPH.

Welcome the the live arm era!
