Any interest in an NBA bet pool? I'm thinking $20-$50 buy in, and we determine the payouts by how many people join. A few of my friends and I are thinking about throwing it together, and the more the merrier.
The idea is this:
Every week you get 1000 "dollars."
Lines will be posted daily, from an agreed upon source (probably Las Vegas Insider posting the Las Vegas Hilton line).
You can bet (or not bet) your "money" however you want. Within a few very basic rules:
1. You must make 1-10 bets weekly. No more than 10, and you can't sit a week out. You have to bet at least the whole $1000 (or you forfeit your allowance that week, or remaining allowance). You are not compelled to bet your winnings, but you can.
2. You can bet up to as much as you have to start the week. You start the week with $1000 + whatever you ended the prior week with.
3. You CANNOT bet your money twice in a week, even if you win. IE: The first day you bet all of your money and win. You've doubled your money, but only starting next week. You can't bet your winnings until the following week.
4. No vig. For simplicity, you win exactly what you bet. No moneylines, no parlays, nothing exotic. You bet the line and you double your money or lose it. That's it.
My friends and I are degenerates, and we like betting the NBA but we'd all concede we're not very good at it. This is a way to get some NBA action without playing (much) real money and maybe learn the game a little better.
