Santi was listed as starting there but Ozil was actually filling that space behind Welbeck and then given the freedom to move wherever he wants...it's so obvious he should be our 10. We should really be starting Welbeck, Ozil at the 10 behind, Alexis out left, and Ox on the right...the latter two give a directness that we need on the wings and most importantly their work-rate and tracking really helps our side-backs a lot.
It was a solid game but the set piece defending has to get better. There's no excuse for Gibbs not marking that ball from Cleverley, Szcesny made a great save (and he's quietly been one of the best keepers in the world thus far).
Ramsey is a bit of a conundrum right now...he's in such poor form but we know how good he can be...hard to not play him, but imo w/ how much Wilshere has improved and reduced his risk taking and excessive ball holding, you have to play Jack over him.

That penalty call was horrible, but that defense is worse. There's no reason they should have lost that game, and to blame it on the ref is ridiculous. There are bad calls in every game. They really need to get that defense together.

that being said there is a legit beef with the referee not because the penalty call was weak but because right before it the striker completely blew up Raphael and that was an obvious foul that should have been called so you havea completely blown call on one hand which is then exacerbated by a weak penalty call. it completely changed the momentum and feel of the game and gave the Foxes a new spirit and energy that they didn't have up to that point.

i'm not saying leicester couldn't have won w/ out the shitty calls. our defense is swiss cheese right now and i think every united fan has mentioned that EVERY week this season. so they sure could have still netted a draw or win w/out those. did you watch the game...once we went up 3-1 Leicester seemed pretty ready to concede defeat. Clattenburg gave them an outlet and they rode that wave and pounced. credit to them but that doesn't mean we didn't get fucked by Clattenburg.
as i said in my previous response, when you have bad calls piling on bad defense it's not a good mix.

Yes, Raphael got screwed twice. The penalty call was soft (almost a dive) and he got fouled right before.
With all of those things said, the belly of this team is horrible. And a team with the resources of MU, they shouldn't have this problem.

Smalling is a joke. Rojo seems okay but the returns are early.
Evans is joke-ish at times but better than Smalling. Phil Jones is good. Edit: Luke Shaw will give some quality.
and it pretty much stops there. sad to say dudes past their prime like Vidic, Evra and the lot seem dreamy in comparison.
STILL...the people bemoaning (or laughing in the case of MU "haters") that we didn't buy any defense need to chill. The attack (esp. midfield) needed fixing MORE than the defense IMO and you gotta spend $$$$ when there's no CL. And on attack the squad looks great. Herrera, Blind and Di Maria all look awesome.
Now it's just a case of a you don't know what you've got til it's gone and we HAD to focus on the attack based on last season not knowing that all of the guys left in defense would suck ass. So now we gotta go buy some defense in the winter. But what left the squad looks so appealing in hindsight.

it's definitely petty.
plus, he's just saying what everyone is thinking/can see...Lucas is the most egregious example of Paris overpaying for some bullshit and then having to stick to their guns to justify the investment. So he could have taken the high road and maybe just hinted at it, people would have connected the dots.
but I guess he really wanted to succeed in his hometown, so he's bitter and lashing out. Can't be too mad at that.
