Obviously in the ESPN and social media era our examples of shameful athletes and organizations has only grown.
I'm thinking we use this post to nominate 64 shameful people and/or organizations/events of the sports we love and then I'll seed them based on overall response to the nominees (as best I can).
Then we use the poll feature to vote for the winners until we get a champion.

Ray Lewis is in there because he was at one point charged with murder Vick is in there even though it wasn't murdering people Hurricane Carter is in there even though he was wrongly convicted, but he'd likely be a low seed to get bumped in the first round.

I would nominate James Butler here, but despite breaking a guy's jaw after the fight was over and his gloves were cut off and then murdering Max Kellerman's brother, somehow that guy doesn't get talked about much at all.

Steve Alford
As a coach at Iowa in 2002, a player of his, Pierre Pierce, was accused and charged of rape. Peirce pled guilty to a lessor charge (as part of a plea deal) and continued on the team while Alford proclaimed Pierce's innocence (even though evidence said otherwise). Alford the went on to belittle the victim and said the real victims in the case were Pierce and the team and coaches. In 2005 Pierce was kicked off the team after he was arrested and charged with sexual assault.
Mike Krzyzewski
During the 1990 Duke basketball season an article was written in the student newspaper that Krzyzewski didn't like. Ten members of the sports staff at the paper were then bought into Cameron Indoor Stadium and lined up on the baseline while players had to stand by and watch as Krzyzewski berated and belittled them. It was so bad that a few players later pulled some of those members of the sports staff to the side and apologized for Krzyzewski's behavior and that they did not know he was going to do that.
