>This was far and away Martin's BEST season.
5x Pro Bowl, 3x All-Pro, 4x top 3 in rushing, 4x top 5 all-purpose yards, 5x double-digit TDs ...it was hardly Martin's only season as a top RB.
>For most of his >career he wasn't better than, Barber, Alexander, Tomlinson, >Holmes, Faulk, Portis or a a healthy Fred Taylor.
Barber spent half his career as a 3rd down back because he couldn't hold onto the ball, Alexander was a soft-running, non-blocking, gutless stat-padding turd, Holmes had 3 great seasons and then was done, Portis never finished in the top 3 in rushing, and a healthy Fred Taylor is a mythical creature akin to unicorns and leprechauns.
>This is a >good place to remind you that he's the NFL's FOURTH on the >NFL's all-time rushing list. He's ahead of dudes like Faulk, >LT, Erick Dickerson, Jim Brown and OJ. He has the numbers of >an all-time great, when he was arguably the 5th best back of >his generation.
So top 5 RB = "slightly better than mediocre"? your argument here is not consistent with your original post. if you want to say Martin's not as good as all-time greats like Faulk and Tomlinson then cool, but that's not what this post was talking about.
