Some of ya'll are regular participants, some of ya'll have played in the past, and some of ya'll might not know about it at all, but a group of my friends and I run a pool that requires participants to pick every FBS vs. FBS game of the season against the spread.
This year we're running it through a pool site, so there won't be as many issues with running a google document spreadsheet.

20% goes to the season winner
10% goes to the season 2nd place.

it's low risk yet enough incentive for you to care and maintain your interest throughout the season.
can'tt speak for everyone but I don't think anyone is doing this as a full time job and spending hours breaking down the math on UTEP vs Idaho. it's ok to guess on a few of these.
also what happens is that you wind up paying at least a little bit of attention to games and teams you wouldn't ordinarily stay up on. pretty soon your guesses become educated guesses. and when bowl season comes around you've been familiarized with some of the smaller teams which can really be helpful.

and it seems like you're getting pretty damn good.
dunno about your personal bankroll, but it sounded like you made out well last year.

But between Blowhards, Survivor, and my girlfriend's dad's betting pool, I'm already going over what I should be spending on these sorts of endeavors. By a healthy amount.
Hopefully next year I'll be a little more up in my bank account and I can consider it more.

2 years ago i was at 51%.
winner 2 years ago was at 53% and last year was at 59%.
nobody goes in to it expecting to nail every sun belt game. there's a certain "averageness" expected, so to speak.
also, nobody's actually betting every single game outside of the pool. it gives you a rooting interest in every game to get your degenerate on, without putting real money on it.
i also think it helps you narrow down the games you DO like for real money, if that's something you're in to.
