3. DRAFT ORDER: Like we've always done, everyone who�s paid by the payment deadline will get to select their draft spot in the order of the standings last season. Standings are determined from final standings after the playoffs/Conso Bracket.

4. DRAFT DATE: Draft is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, August 30th at 3:00pm EST. Time and date is up for debate.

5. KEEPERS: Every owner can keep two picks from last season�s roster that were drafted in the 6th round or later. One change that was suggested last year was doing an auction draft as opposed to the standard snake draft we've been doing. Another suggestion I'm offering is switching up the draft order every other round. I know we did it when I was in A_B's Survivor basketball league, it makes the draft pretty interesting. What y'all think?

I'm guessing you meant can keep to "players" as opposed to keeping 2 "picks". Some keepers obviously were not "picked" last year...or were they picked by the team that ended up with them, and thus made them a keeper. Just trying to clarify.

again I would propose having return yards count for players. Make it reasonable...you know without making a strictly return guy on par with top WRs who don't return...but not having return yards count for individual players in some way to me doesn't make sense. In "real life" on Sunday solid return guys have some value...and guys who are WRs catching passes AND return guys....ie Percy Harvin etc... those guys have a value that should be accounted for in fantasy football.

it also adds an area of consideration for a team owner in terms of who to play...pick up...or draft.... and anytime you add an element of consideration...as long as it's reasonable...it will tend to benefit the owner who is utilizing the more effective strategy..thus the guy who is ..so to speak...playing the game better...will be in a better position..... It raises the bar so to speak...

eh.... I would prefer sticking with the standard snake draft...and if there would be a change to the draft..I would suggest it be implemented the following season.... The current draft order was earned by what happened last season..and changing from that to me is like changing the rules of a game after the game has started...to me any changes in the draft should be for the following season as opposed to the upcoming season so folks know..

again...I would be against that. Smut earned the first choice in draft selection...and the guys at the bottom earned the last draft choice selection. Doesn't seem fair to change what they've earned after the fact....

I'm also not a big fan of randomizing draft orders in a league that has been around for a while....to me it's better to earn your draft spot.....puts more weight on playing your season all the way out because there is something to be gained...

stop suggesting it every year so it loses 1-11 in an owner vote.

Can I trade guys who are currently on my roster for picks? As in, if I want to swap Michael Crabtree for a fifth rounder, can someone else do that trade and take Crabtree on their roster into the 2014 season?

keeper eligible, and would have to be 1 of the 2 keepers for the team that gets him?

I think that was the issue before... if the limit to keepers is 2...nobody should be able to take more than 2 players into this season, even if they traded a pick for them.

And the person receiving a player in the trade would still only keep two players total: Crabtree (in this example) and 1 other player. NOT Crabtree plus two others

there was confusion as to whether or not a player obtained for a draft pick counts as one of your 2 keepers.

Obviously it should because if you let teams carry more than 2 players into the next season it compromises the keeper rule, and the draft.

and after reading the debate about this in last years post, I agree with Warren as well that no one can have more than 2 keeper players on their team to start the draft, meaning if you trade a draft pick for a keeper, then you can only keep one more player from your original team.....

say my keepers are leveon bell and mike wallace. why would i trade my 5th round pick for crabtree, when not only do i lose that pick but i'd also be losing wallace? it might be worth my 5th round pick to trade for crabtree if i could still keep both my original keepers, it definitely isn't worth my 5th round pick to get crabtree if i have to throw wallace back. no one will trade with these rules because it's only worth it for the owner who's trading the player, but not the owner who's trading the pick. if i'm wrong, show me a scenario where two teams would realistically agree to a trade under these rules.

i suggested this last year, but the rule should be that if you trade a draft pick to get a player, that player should be your 3rd keeper. and if you trade another pick to get another player, that player should be your 4th keeper. so if you wanted to, you could theoretically build your entire team before the draft just by trading your picks for keeper-eligible players. and if you trade a keeper-eligible player for a draft pick, you should still be able to keep two players from your remaining roster. you'd get that draft pick and lose your 16th round pick, just so everyone ends up with the same number of players at the end of the draft. if you traded another player for a pick, you'd get that pick and lose your 15th rounder, and so on. so your draft could theoretically consist of, say, two picks in each of the first eight rounds (your eight original picks and eight you traded for) and then none after that. it's hard to explain, but it makes sense in my brain.

you simply don't draft in the 5th and get crabtree.

but the limit should be 3 keepers.

my keepers aren't amazing but I don't know if upgrading to Crabtree for a 5th is enough of an upgrade to offset the cost.

two original rosters plus up to two traded for picks.

since I see a couple of people have questioned it, let me try to do a simple explanation here.

The first round would be just like we always do, people would pick their spots as normal, then we'd snake that order for round 2. However, in round 3 and every other odd numbered round going forward, the draft order would change, and snake in reverse for the even numbered round.

EXAMPLE
Round 1
1. KC 2. Shelly 3. WC 4. Will 5. Smuts 6. Cere

Round 2
7. Cere 8. Smuts 9. Will 10. WC 11. Shelly 12. KC

Round 3 (new random order)
13. Smuts 14. WC 15. Cere 16. KC 17. Shelly 18. Will

Round 4
19. Will 20. Shelly 21. KC 22. Cere 23. WC 24. Smuts

Round 5 (new random order) and so on until the end of the draft

not like I'd be randomizing the order DURING the draft, but I see that already y'all are against it. Just trying to find things to liven up the league, been doing it the same way for 12 years now.....
