Watching Miami roll to a 4th straight finals without anyone seriously challenging them is kinda boring, unless you're a Heat fan. They will stomp the fuck out of the Wizards. But still, the Wiz going to the ECF is hilarious given how Basa shit all over them.

Like it was a big epidemic that needed to be dealt with, like RIGHT NOW!

At that point he clearly had run out of things to say.

He was clearly gushing all over the Wizards in the first half....probably flashing back to all the unfulfilled promise that team had with him, Howard and Strickland.

just like the Hawks shooting crazy af from 3

Washington has gone 10-15 from 3. 67%

they're not doing that again

don't get overly hype off this

Paul George is 4-16

Lance is 4-13

they're gonna shoot better, and Washington will make fewer 3's

it's one game

The defense is consistent though.. Lance and Paul's struggles weren't just bad shooting nights... it was largely good defense.

Not saying they're both going to be kept in check the entire series but the Wizards ARE a good defensive team.

They don't usually shoot 3's as well, but there's so much offensive balance on the team that we don't have to overly rely on 3pt shooting to compete.

Wall, Beal, Ariza, Nene and Gortat can all go for 20+ regularly and usually 2 or 3 of them are doing it each game. If Indy tries to focus on Beal and Ariza more in the next game, that just means more emphasis on pick and roll between Wall and Ariza or Gortat.

and no Google search; he was the back-up big man to Dwight Howard in Orlando. I believe he left a season or two after Dwight left and became a starter in Phoenix. Dunno if he landed in Washington via a trade or free agency.

It's a shame Nene isn't healthier because the two of them look like they would make a nice tandem based off the little action I've seen of them in the playoffs.

I'm pretty boosted about how they played and how they controlled the boards.

Love Brad Beal, and as tough as i've been on Wall he's doing exactly what this team needs. This is a duo that should be together for a while.

I watched Gortat and Gooden give David West trouble all night to neutralize some of his importance because truth be told that dude is important. Especially since Roy isn't trying to work in the paint, taking West out will be key.

I'm not sure what Roy's problem is, like ever since Vogel took him out down the stretch against Miami last year he took his heart too.

The Pacers will have a better game in game 2, we'll see if P George can rise to the occasion or falter and allow the #1 seed to be ousted in a really underwhelming 2014 performance.

I still think Wiz in 6,

Cause I've had my issues with Wittman, but minus a few tweaks here and there, he's really dialed in and got the Wiz playing out of their minds right now.

This is still the same team.

Randy Wittman isn't a great coach all of sudden.

They're just playing well at the right time.

If you dudes would've watched them all season, you would've known they're capable of this output, but also capable of losing to the Bobcats.

NBA talking heads and now OKS are gonna go way overboard.

Out of the teams left from the East. So they're the underdogs and the darlings.

The "if"s are starting to come together on the floor at the right time.

They may very well get steam rolled right on our of Indy and get handled the rest of the way. It won't change that they had a great run and got hot at the right time.

I'm glad the team, especially the young guys are getting the playoff experience, but I'm not gonna pretend like they're something they're not.

As in styles makes fights, their style has made them tough to beat against a Bulls team that everyone thought should run them out of the building, and Pacer team that should for all intents and purposes run them outta the building.

They might catch the Pacers slipping and get to the ECF, at that point it doesn't matter if they fell ass first into the finals they're there.

I feel you on the not world beaters yet, but they're playing to the best that this team can be right now. Is that good enough to get a chip? Absolutely not, but is it good enough to scare some people and get pretty far into the playoffs? Hell the fuck yea

This is the team we thought they could be. And at its best, no one is seriously predicting that they will beat miami.

Leadership knows this, they know we're facing a weakened pacer team and we beat the bulls without rose. Lots of things have gone the team's way.

I think they have to keep the next couple of summers in mind and consider that bigger fish than ariza will want to be a part of this team over the next 2-3 years. The bench went from terrible to servicable but miller, harrington and gooden arent long term solutions. If Ariza will accept 4th man money then he is an excellent fit. If not, we have other holes to fill and need cap flexibility.

I think most fans thought this team was more capable of this than losing to the Bobcats which is why the fire Ernie and Witt sentiment was there. Too inconsistent during the year, even when healthy.

If Indiana had kept playing the way they did in the first half of the season, we'd all be doing a victory lap for getting to round 2. Once the Pacers started to crumble, expectations rose. It's natural.

>NBA talking heads and now OKS are gonna go way overboard.

Talking heads just need a fresh story. Nobody's giving them a chance to beat the Heat (I don't think).

And I think the weakness of the East is going to set this team up for some huge expectations that they can never live up to. I'm not sure this team is better than the last time the Bullets got amped when they had Webber and Howard.

I do think this team is the perfect mix of young and old. There are certain vets they need to make sure they bring back but not over pay for.

and all of a sudden it's

"I told you if Nene was healthy....."
"I told you if Wall got a shot...."
"I told you if Beal did ....."

Or some other excuse for why they saw the Wizard's talent but didn't hype it up because of some contingency.

but yeah. It's BEEN a defensive minded team that shoots three's well but has a thin bench, a heady point guard that likes to set the pace and get his teammates involved and a so-so coach who's more about accountability and toughness than x's and o's.

But Wittman's got them dialed in right now and it should be a good series before any serious warts show.

this is the team.

Sign Gortat to a reasonable number. STILL
Let Ariza walk or trade him. STILL
And keep being smart.

The most important piece in this team really taking the leap is Otto. He doesn't have to be a star, but be a decent player. Jeff Green at least. Then, everyone else will work out,

In response to Reply # 73

He likes to ride a good thing until the wheels come off (see: Arenas, Gilbert).

Plus he isn't secure enough in his job anymore to risk setting the team back by disrupting the chemistry. He's either gotta ride this out or undeniably improve the team... he can't let someone like Ariza walk just for the sake of fiscal responsibility.

The last time we went to the second round, hughes got a huge deal from cleveland and we didnt match it.

Ernie has options with webster and porter. Its not a given that ariza returns.

78. "Crazy as it sounds, Ariza might HAVE to be the piece to go...."
In response to Reply # 74

And it's crazy because of how instrumental he's been to our success.

But the two biggest decisions we have are him and Gortat. If Gortat goes, we have ZILCH at the 5 spot.

Webster has been inconsistent, but he can step into Ariza's starting spot and give us similar things offensively, but not quite the perimeter defense. I have a feeling Otto might not be an off the wall talent, but a smart player that'll hustle.

I'd love to see them keep this team together and add some depth to the bench, but it won't be simple. Ernie is gonna have a huge headache this offseason.
