"WHITE FOLKS: This Teddy Bridgewater slide is on some MAGIC NEGRO shit"
Tue Mar-04-14 03:37 PM by Orbit_Established

So apparently his stock is tumbling because of lack of
"upside"

Oh word? Lack of "upside?"

So the only way to be black and a top 3 pick at QB is to
run a sub 4'5 (4'6 if you're an NFL Linebacker sized guy),
or can throw the ball out of the stadium from your knees!?!?!

Having a SOLID, WELL ROUNDED skill set ain't good enough
when you're black?!?!?!

Eh yo, I'm not with that, B.

This is MAGIC NEGRO shit. To be the black chosen one, you
HAVE TO BE ABLE TO MOVE MOUNTAINS with your arm or feet.

You can't be no SOLID, WELL-ROUNDED prospect like Matt Ryan
was.

Or Luck was.

Or Carr/Harrington was.

Or Navajo Joe was.

Hell, or even Blaine Gabbert was (10th pick
but still......LMMMAAAAAAOOOOO)

Sanchez wasn't live like that either

Fuck OUTTA here

Y'all don't get love for drafting RG3 #2 overall...he
threw the best deep ball in a decade and is an olympic
hurdler

Jamarcus had the best pro day throwing clinic in history
(ask Jaws)

Vick was Vick

Cam was Cam

McNabb was in this physical freak realm, as was Akili Smith

We can be regular, solid, well-rounded people too

as far as the throws he has already been making..the scheme he was already running...his ability to break down defenses..

anyone who fronts on that and picks another QB is risking their job..

All of them except BR have him as the 1st QB selected. BR has Manziel going #1 and Teddy going #3. ESPN has him ranked as the #1 QB prospect but you need Insider to see Kiper & McShay's mock drafts.

I'd venture to guess he's gonna go pretty early.

Your overall point notwithstanding, this is a poor comparison.

Ryan went 3rd overall in a draft that was just awful for QB

1st round was Ryan and then much later, Delaware QB Joe Flacco

2nd round Chadd Henne and Brian Brohm

Late, late 3rd round Kevin O'Connell...

Meanwhile, this draft might go through 3 or 4 QBs before the middle of the first round.

Just a poor comparison.

Matt Ryan was far and away the best prospect in the 08 draft.
The distance between him and the other prospects was massive.

That the distance between Bridgewater and the rest of these
guys is so small relative to Ryan and his cohort is
specifically because of the magic negro phenomenon-

We wouldn't be talking about Blake Bortles if Teddy is Matt
Ryan, because Blake Bortles is not in the same stratosphere
as a football player

You only have to compete with medicore QBs for the top spot
when you're black and don't run a sub 4'4 or throw the ball
across the galaxy

And the reason so many QBs might be drafted this year is
because of need, not because everyone is in love with these
QBs

This draft isn't being compared to the 2012 class, for example

THAT was a great QB draft

Blake Bortles is easily a more promising QB prospect than Matt Ryan was pre-draft and you're calling him 'not in his stratosphere.'

Admit it, you've seen Bortles play once, maybe twice.

And armed with that wealth of knowledge, you've prepared it for your racial agenda.

Do better.

i still blame hip-hop.

I merely pointed out that your comparison was poor, which it was.

That was literally an awful draft for QB's.

Your overall argument is another story.

QB A is smart and looks the most polished but is not a great athlete, doesnt have ideal size and is questionable on his deep ball.

QB B is definitively undersized but was a great college player who showed elite elusiveness and made a bunch of highlight plays. Hype is sky high for various reasons...including recent success of college QBs with elite elusiveness.

QB C has a bunch of system stats along with being tall and white, prototypical pocket QB bullshit archetype.

I am honestly not that surprised that there is discussion over who should go first or even that some idiots are bandying about QB C as a legitimate option.

I did not include Derek Carr because no one really thinks Carr is going before Teddy.

Derek (FUCKING) Carr is higher on some draft boards. Johnny Football is higher as well. Blake Bortles' inclusion in the discussion for the number one pick is the most white priviledge shit ever.

THIS SHIT'S DISGUSTING. The Browns need to flip their pick for the second pick somehow and draft dude. Teddy is the best, RIGHT TODAY, QB in this draft class.

if you were watching that game, you realize how important that play was.
Teddy willed them to a victory

and I feel like Bortles is being overrated after he ran a 4.9 40.
they're comparing him to Luck, because he's big and white, but Luck
is an absolute football NERD. he's been one all his life. I've never

Luck was an ELITE athlete along with his size and insanely accurate with the arm to make every throw on top of being mentally all-in.

Anyone who made that comparison should be shot unceremoniously

I don't think he makes one bad decision or throws one bad ball, even his incompletions are incomplete in the right spot. Dude is fast too. The touch on his slants is Montana-esque.

Out of all the black QB's you listed (Vick, Cam, McNabb, JaMarcus) coming out of college, Bridgewater is arguably the best pure pocket passer coming out.

He's definitely the best pocket passer in the draft no question

And these same tools who knocked all those cats for NOT being a pure pocket passer coming out (even knocked RG3 and Russell Wilson), are knocking Bridgewater for BEING everything they want in a QB, especially in terms of pocket presence.

To have ANY QB ahead of him is a joke, and points to that cism

I mean, once you read "stock tumbling" this is pure hyperbole, come on.

Bridgewater's stock has not tumbled. He is firmly in the discussion as the 1st QB to be picked.

And whatever tumbles his stock took, they were during the CFB season for the most part. He came in expected to do more than he did, but no one is expecting him to fall anywhere.

Tumbling stock is Matt Barkley, Geno Smith, etc.

Bridgewater just might not be the first QB taken, which we knew the minute Johnny Football threw his name in the ring.

Johnny Football is a "fast scrambler" who ran a 4.7,
for god's sakes

The distance between him and the #2 prospect (Manziel, Bortles
or Carr) is far larger than the talent gap between Matt Ryan and
Joe Flacco

If the actual draft distance between him and the #2 QB is any
closer, its because Teddy is black and isn't 6'9 250 running a
4.3/40

That Jake Locker was a TOP 8 PICK is white privilege 101,
you imbecile....you just proved MY point

Don't NOBODY care about NONE of that shit when the athlete
is WHITE

YOU JUST SAID Teddy Bridge is falling because "he decided
not to run at the combine"

Bwahhahahaha word?

And bwahahah @ "interviews"....if Johnny Football is black
they ban him from the league BEFORE the season

Teddy Bridge is the HIGHEST character PLAYER (let alone
QB) in this draft

1) Using Teddy not running at the combine as a reason
why his stock deserves to drop is racist, since both
great QBs an bum QBs run fast, and great QBs throw very
poorly (Cam)

2) That Locker was fast and strong but a horrible actual
quarterback didn't matter. He went #8 overall. Blaine Gabbert
went #10 overall (and was allegedly more "pro ready" than the
guy who went #1 and broke the rookie passing record). That's
because white people have it easier -- you don't have to be
very good to be the #1 overall pick. You can have measureables,
you cave a noodle arm, you can be a scrambler or not a scrambler
or a terrible human being. Black QBs *must* be physical marvels.

^That's called getting your internet-ass handed to you.

Now, bow down and kiss the coffee stain on my Timberlands, beyotch

His arm is pretty average, always has been.

Thankfully, white QBs don't have to be Dan Marino

If the Texans take Clowney and IF St Louis keeps their pick (I don't think they will) that leaves Jacksonville and Cleveland as the only QB teams in the top 4.

I doubt he'll be Aaron Rodgers motivated at falling three spots in the draft. Also kind of implies that he wouldn't be motivated otherwise.

And "transcendent" and black = olympic sprinter speed or a
Jamarcus arm

That's kind of my point

No black QB with a noodle arm like Luck will ever get that
title, even though Luck deserved it (as do black QBs) because
being a dope QB is being a dope QB

RG3 was an Olympic sprinter and threw the best deep ball
in a decade. He was really, really, really, really good.
He also had an IQ off the charts, came from a good family,
etc. He was essentially the perfect black QB -- smarter than
the white ones, olympian fast with a cannon.

That's what's so vexing about this song-and-dance every year. Bridgewater is a dope QB. That's it, that's all. Watch the games.

I guess I'm thinking of "RGIII: starter on a shit team with a gruesome knee injury under his belt", and not "RGIII: all-world prospect coming out of Baylor." The reality of the Washington Football situation has taken some of the shine off RGIII, but he still had everything you could ask for coming out of college.

As to the rest of this thread, I think two things are true, and not mutually exclusive by any means.

A) The pre-draft hype cycle is so long and exhaustive that virtually every single year, the guy who should be the slam-dunk choice for first QB off the board starts to slide in mocks. People won't click on Don Banks' mid-January Mock Draft v16.0 if he's had the same guy at the top in his first 15 versions. So eventually people start inventing holes in that guy's game while ignoring real holes in the other guys, just so they can generate some heat and pageviews when they SHAKE THE WORLD and claim some bum-ass nu-Gabbert is making a case for the #1 pick.

and

B) Racism. Soooo much racism.

YARDS

For the record I'd maintain Luck as a freshman beating Oregon & USC in consecutive weeks when both were Top 10 teams were both bigger wins than beating an unranked Hurricane team.

No big deal tho, because while Bridgewater ain't Luck, he is the best prospect in this draft based on the evidence I've seen.

i never saw gino smith play in college and last yrs QB stock was obviously worse with only 1 1st round QB
but it seems like bridgewater may have a similar trajectory
#1 lock at one point and then a steady drop in the eyes of scouts as the draft approaches due to a lot of the same "flaws"

Geno Smith was super duper duper productive, threw a
beautiful ball, but had concerns about his blackness and
"selfishness." It was mostly one racist cracka, and he
really didn't fall very far in the draft and had a good
rookie season, considering the Jets offensive was abysmal

Teddy checks out by every conceivable character and cognitive
test. His concerns about his size and "upside," the latter
the product of being black and not running a 4.30 with a
Jamarcus arm

second straight year I don't love any QB in the draft tho.

I'd take Teddy over the others (Manziel ain't pulling that style off at that size against NFL speed, plus his own father thinks he's an alcoholic).

I don't know Bortles.

Like the LSU QB a bit who got hurt, he could be a value pick later.

I basically only watched them when they played Syracuse.

Louisville beat Cuse in Bridgewater's first year, Cuse beat them 45-26 the next year. In that game, Bridgewater was playing hurt, was getting blitzed and hit all game long but hung in there, still made plays, and did all he could to try to keep his team in it. His team was banged upmand missing a lot of key guys and Cuse played out of their minds, he kept bringing it though. They lost badly, but he played well and did all he could.

Geno pretty much folded every time he played Cuse. Took 2 safety's in the same bowl game against them which helped turn a close game into a blowout, threw a big interception in the end zone in another, and generally seemed to play worse as the games went on and the pressure brought on him got heavier.

Just... what did he... the ball went... damn.

Loved this throw too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ELPwI9_y5U&feature=youtu.be&t=6m25s

I just pulled these from a Reddit thread about Mayock calling Teddy's pro day "very average at best."

Listen, just take this guy off the fucking board by 8. I want no part of him in the division. Let the Vikings get Bortles, that guy strikes zero fear into my heart as a Lions fan. We partied like shit when they took Ponder, it was like a statement of intent not to be a factor for 2-4 years.

I wanted Aaron Curry at #1 overall in 2009. I can't ever let myself forget that.

But Christian Ponder? When the Vikings had beat us something like 22 out of 24 meetings? That was as clear-cut a "GOD BE HELPING!" moment as I can remember.

I don't remember hearing much about Ponder being a first-rounder pre-draft, then all of the sudden he's goes by #12, which was even more surprising than Locker at #8.

Full disclosure: I kinda liked Locker in college (mighta been a bit because of how much trouble he always gave the Trojans) and thought he'd be a steal in the second that year, he's had a couple moments but gotten hurt too much......liked him going in as a prospect much more than Manziel tho.

as a player/personality it made sense that somebody would try to prove they were right & take him earlier than he deserved.

So by that measure, Ponder might be the most shocking since......wait, the Browns drafted The 40-Year-Old Virgin since then.

That was more shocking than both.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000334716/article/teddy-bridgewater-still-drafts-top-qb-despite-pro-day-struggles

Teddy Bridgewater still draft's top QB, despite pro day struggles

Teddy Bridgewater finally put his talents on the display in front of
a host of NFL general managers, coaches and scouts Monday at his pro
day, and the performance was underwhelming to say the least.

The consensus top-ranked quarterback in most observers' minds didn't
exactly wow evaluators with his accuracy, ball placement and arm
strength during the workout. Bridgewater didn't rifle balls to every
area of the field with exceptional zip or velocity. It appeared that
his balls lost a little steam at the end of the throw. Additionally,
his balls fluttered and floated more than normal based on tape study.
Now, it's important to note that Bridgewater threw the ball around
today without a glove, so it's possible that his feel and grip was
affected by unexplained change.

From a mechanical standpoint, Bridgewater's footwork was solid. He
quickly retreated from under center with solid balance and body
control. Bridgewater stood up tall at the top of his drops; he
delivered the ball quickly after setting up. Although some of his
throws were slightly off target, the timing and rhythm of his passes
were exactly what's expected from an elite quarterback.

On the move, Bridgewater flashed above-average athleticism making
throws on the run. He capably throws the ball to his right or left
without issue. Bridgewater's ability to toss the ball on sprint-outs
matched what I witnessed on tape during the fall. Of course, I
would've liked to see a little better ball placement on some of his
throws, but I didn't come away concerned with his ability to function
within an offense built around movement-based passes.

Overall, I don't think Bridgewater greatly affected the opinions
about his game with his workout. His supporters will continue to tout
his high football IQ, leadership skills and big-game performance as
reasons why he should remain the top quarterback prospect in the
class. Meanwhile, the Bridgewater critics will point to potential arm
strength and accuracy concerns as a reason for looking elsewhere at
the position. They will cite his slight weight loss (Bridgewater
weighed in at 208 pounds after tipping the scales at 214 at the NFL
Scouting Combine) as another cause for concern.

There are two key questions for Bridgewater coming out of his
workout. Here is a look at each of them:

How much will the workout impact Bridgewater's draft status?

Whenever a top prospect doesn't perform to expectations, it opens the
door for a contender to supplant him at the top of the board. This
remains a legitimate possibility with Blake Bortles set to conduct
his pro day on Wednesday and Johnny Manziel's pro day coming up on
March 27. If Bortles or Manziel catches fire during the workout and
exhibits better-than-anticipated arm talent, accuracy and touch, the
conversation will definitely turn to which quarterback is a better
option for the immediate future and long-term success. While I remain
steadfast in my belief that Bridgewater is the best quarterback
prospect in the 2014 class, I think the workout confirms the fact
that he merits a first-round grade albeit a mid-to-late first-round
value based on his talent and skills. To provide some context, that
is the same grade that I issued to Aaron Rodgers and Alex Smith (7.05
on the Carolina Panthers' grading scale, which means "future starter
with the potential to be a key contributor by the end of his first
pro season"). While most of us focus on when and where a prospect is
drafted, the final grade should correlate with how a prospect is
expected to perform as a pro during his career. That's something to
remember while we're moving forward in this process.

What can Bridgewater do to bounce back from the disappointing showing?

Bridgewater will have an opportunity to make amends for his
performance during private workouts with teams. He will certainly
work out for several teams over the next month or so, which will give
him a chance to erase some concerns that might have come up during
his pro day workout. In those workouts, the team will control the
script and dictate what throws he'll be expected to make. This will
test the strengths and weaknesses of Bridgewater's game, while giving
teams an opportunity to see how he handles an uncomfortable
environment. In addition, Bridgewater will have an opportunity to
dazzle scouts with his football IQ and mental acumen. He excels in
those areas based on my conversations with scouts and coaches about
him. Thus, Bridgewater can still win over the hearts of evaluators
despite potentially bombing at his pro day. With the game won
primarily between the ears, Bridgewater's interviews and personal
workouts could be the difference in being a top-five pick or falling
to the bottom of the first round.

Though I really don't mind Carr; he wouldn't be a bad second round pick if we can get a linebacker in the first.

I could also see him saying fuck it and trading up into the top 5 to get, I don't know, Aaron Murray or someone.

what's sad is how easily the media is used as a mouthpiece when it comes to something they don't understand -- like scouting.

these anonymous scouts and personnel men can say anything they want: it's not coming back on them, and the writers can't check them on any of it anyway. bet more than half these sources are trolling, seeing what sixth-rounder they can pump up by next Wednesday.

perfect fit...

he'll immediately have more weapons than Cam Newton...

I'm sure he'll do well..

and as far as the race thing goes...look.... a lot of how the pre-hype is communicated through the media has a racial element to it....same thing happened to Cam and he was still the #1 overall pick and has played very well...

If Teddy's stock is falling before the draft it's because he's not blowing people away at his workouts and at the combine..it's that simple..if he was..he'd probably be the first overall pick and most certainly the top QB...

NFL teams long ago made it clear that they are willing to draft Black QBs very high....even if their were question marks before the draft....a Black QB just won the Super Bowl... trust me .... if Teddy has a team that believes in him ..they'll draft him ...and he'll get a chance to play right away..

it's that simple.

Name a black QB taken in the top 5 that didn't have
among the strongest arms ever, or wasn't a super
freak athlete?

You can't name one.

Meanwhile, Matt Ryan, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Phillip
Rivers, Eli Manning, Mark Sanchez, Sam Bradford...etc

NONE had world class measureables AT ALL.

White QBs can be TIP TOP prospects based on INTANGIBLES

ZERO black QBs ever have had that luxury

ALL are physical monsters in some regards

That is what I'm saying

All this "Teddy Bridgewater has no upside" is bullshit

Y'all REALLY though Matt Ryan's was higher? Or Harrington?

I mean...LOL @ BLAINE GABBERT being top 10

And Jake Locker (lol)

And Christian fucking Ponder going TWELVE!?!?!?

You'll *never* see black QBs with that talent go that
high

Cam was looked at as a great athlete ...his ability to be an NFL QB though was seriously questioned..... the Panthers took him #1 overall anyway and he's proven more than worthy of that selection.

Vince was looked at as a great athlete...questionable as a pocket QB....the Titans still took him high...

Both Akili Smith and Jamarcus Russell were drafted high because they blew people away in their combine work outs.... in fact I think it's Mayock who has said that they both had 2 of the best QB pro day's he's ever seen.... and again...both were drafted high..

my point is that we are now at a place in the NFL were a Black QB will be selected high even if there are questions about them....maybe those questions take on a racial element..often they do.....but the guys are still being drafted high...they are getting opportunities that Black QBs simply didn't get before. Even after some of these guys completely blew their opportunity..... over time that has not impacted teams taking other Black QBs high...

he'll be the #1 overall pick based on many so-called intangibles....

Where I would disagree with your premise is that all of the guys I named were Black QBs with question marks before the draft that still were drafted very high....some made it and some didn't..just like the list you provided...it's some major busts on that list and you could have named ever more.....

regardless of how a QB is looked at before the draft..Black QBs are being drafted high...they are getting chances...and many are taking advantage of those opportunities...

we will see if Teddy will be better than Manziel....we will see who is drafted first....

I personally think that Teddy has a much better upside than Manziel...and is more skilled....I still believe there are many NFL guys who still hold that opinion even though Teddy seemingly didn't blow people away at his work out.....

but if he goes to Minnesota....that's a great opportunity for him.

He's as natural a QB prospect as the world has seen

He was born to play

He's hardly an "intangible" guy

He's a 2-sport star and a wunderkind in every conceivable
way

I'm talking about the Bradford, Sanchez, Harrington, Carr,
Rivers, Matt Ryan...even picks 8-12 like Locker, Gabbert,
and Ponder

You will NEVER see a black QB get drafted that high
with those mediocre skill sets

No, no, and no. I also don't think there is a chance in hell that Ted slides into the second round.

O_E, I have to admit you may have nailed this one. Won't know for sure until draft day though. I still wouldn't be surprised if he goes to the Vikes or someone else in the top 10. However if he has a Rodgersesque free fall... yeah

but you guys prolly have in mop-up duty or preseason I guess?

Personally if I were y'all I'd rather see how that is going to play out then burn another pick on a QB to hold onto while Belichick is your coach and Brady is your starter.

I'm assuming Brady/Belichick have at least two more seasons barring injury.

Wouldn't you rather give Brady a Marquise Lee to throw the ball to or a Kyle Fuller to help keep the other team from throwing the ball?

Especially when the guy you've been already grooming for 3 years hasn't really played any meaningful minutes as a pro?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/18/mark-dominik-teddy-bridgewaters-problems-go-beyond-pro-day/

Mark Dominik, the former Buccaneers general manager who now serves as an analyst for ESPN, said on NFL Live that he doesn’t believe Bridgewater’s Pro Day is a problem so much as his skinny frame, as well as the fact that Bridgewater didn’t always look like an elite passer on tape.

“There were things you saw on tape when you watched him,” Dominik said. “Something that scouts internally, we talked about it in Tampa with Teddy Bridgewater last year. Is he really the premiere quarterback? I like the young man, I think he’s a quality individual, he’s got character and leadership and those things. But this is a quarterback, and you’re judged by what quarterback you draft, and I think Teddy Bridgewater might not have all the pieces you’re looking for.

This is *almost* worse than the Nawrocki slander. They're making up shit. Coming out of college, JFF is a bust and is not worthy of his first round status. He could become a pro bowler if he gets the ARod/Kaep treatment.

I've never seen anything like this. ITWAWD he'd be consensus top can't miss once in a generation QB.

Teddy went completed 57 of 65 passes in his pro day.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/26/mike-mayock-i-wouldnt-use-a-first-round-pick-on-teddy-bridgewater/

Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was once viewed as a potential first overall pick of the Texans in this year’s NFL draft. Now he may not even be a Top 32 pick.

NFL Network’s Mike Mayock is the latest to say that Bridgewater looked so bad in his Pro Day that it’s a reason to re-evaluate everything he put on tape.

“If I was a GM in the NFL, I would not take him in the first round of the draft,” Mayock said of Bridgewater on the Petros and Money Show, via NFL.com.

Mayock said he liked what he saw on tape from Bridgewater, but he had no choice to change his mind after seeing Bridgewater throw in person at Louisville.

“I would say in general, tape is worth about 85 percent of an overall grade, and the rest of the process is set up for red flags, and to go back and watch more tape to try to confirm what you saw or didn’t see,” Mayock said. “I saw about four of his tapes prior to the combine, and I really liked him. I thought he had a chance to be a franchise quarterback from what I saw on the tape. . . . Except you’ve got to see the quarterbacks throw the ball live. I’ve never seen a top-level quarterback in the last 10 years have a bad pro day, until Teddy Bridgewater. He had no accuracy, the ball came out funny, the arm strength wasn’t there, and it made me question everything I saw on tape because this was live.”

So maybe the Texans will take Bridgewater. With the 33rd pick.

But we know the deal! Now everybody is just piling on.

The odd thing is that people are just coming out and speaking ON THE RECORD about how "bad" they think he is. If he isn't all you think he's cracked up to be, then hope that someone in your division picks him up, and then you are golden for the next few years not having to worry about your rival having a top flight guy at quarterback. Why go and shit on this dude so hard. Costing the brother, literally millions of dollars in the process?

In response to Reply # 150

BR has been historically terrible as far as credibility but they've upped their game recently as hiring legit journalists (Howard Beck comes to mind, I know there's a few others). They really need to step their editorial game up thought to scrub some of the user submitted articles to basically make it more consistent and professional. B/R has at least gone from "I'll never read it" to "I'll put up with this terrible format if this article sounds interesting" for me, though it's still not on the regular rotation of sports sites for me.

Mock drafts are tricky though. You half have to go with your opinion and half go with what the team's rumored opinion is, you can't just put, say, Khalil Mack at #1 in the draft even if you think he's the best player if that team has shown no interest or need in him.

frankly i don't think there have been (m)any BLACK qb prospects who have gone from heralded to doubted so quickly for so little reason, let alone white ones.

in that sorry franchise's history for decades to come, he'd beaten out Geno for the job in preseason before suffering a season-ending injury and will have had a better career than Geno Smith by they're are out of the league (which will likely be within the next five years for both).

Don't fall for the okey-doke bro, remain focused on the white folks and leave The Mexican out of this.

This is true, of course, unless its Teddy Bridgewater,
who has Andrew Luck-scale (not quite, but in the same
ball park, and certainly grades higher on intangibles
than Matt Ryan) intangibles. He was HIGHLY productive.

He ran a PRO STYLE offense.

He is NOT GIMMICKY. He has an arm. Is a VERY good

Its a fucking JOKE.

If Bridgewater slides it's a story, and if he rebounds and goes top 5 it's another story.

If Bridgewater is just the best QB in the draft, as he apparently was all season, there's not much story there.

I'm not saying it's not rooted in 'cism, but I get the feeling a lot of this is bullshit self-serving conjecture.

i still blame hip-hop.

In response to Reply # 178

because it got pushed back to mid may instead of late april. so they also had to find 3 extra weeks worth of bullshitting about a now 3 day event. AND there are just more and more outlets clamoring for news.

thus, the reasonable fall of a hyped QB prospect became this insane superslide that is absurd and unsurprisingly happening to a black QB as the media feeds on itself.

it doesn't help that, as recent articles have shown, NFL scouting rooms are filled with idiots who don't trust their own processes (see the article by the former Rams/Browns scout for that) and the only correlation between well-run draft room is with not talking to the media and the echo chamber of idiocy coupled with racism leads to this fall.

plus, some team *has* to realize that getting the extra year on a QB's contract by picking that player in the late first is worth it and trade back up to grab him, right? RIGHT?

I'm fucking flabbergasted.

I'm not going to complain.

I'm starting to feel like this might turn into a Somali kid at the grocery store situation. It sucks that all of these otherwise "polite" people are so damn scared of this 16 year old that they don't want to get close enough to let him to scan their food, but at the same time, I'm not going to bitch about a wide open checkout lane.

Teddy is on a better team for a much better organization...

I guarantee that he will end up with the better career injuries aside.....

Teddy won..

I just cannot get my head around the fact he was the #1 QB prospect before the season, doesn't do anything to disprove that, then after the season has this meteoric fall and for what?

Hell, they had him listed as the 3rd best QB in this year's draft on most boards (another head scratcher) and then look at all the anonymous source BS that was coming out about him, even comparing him to a fictional QB.

Then I checked out the individual draft grades on CBS Sports:

Bortles A+
Manziel A-
Bridgewater B- (WTF?)

Anyway, Bridgewater gets to work with Norv so that's an automatic win for him.

Assuming Norval doesn't leave for another inexplicable head coaching offer, he's going to make Teddy great. There's not a better OC for a young QB to work with.

sorry, but until someone else fesses up that they wanted bortles in the top 10, that was a huge fail even if he turns out to be good. They could have traded down and still gotten their guy! and we know people wanted to trade up because they moved up right after them!

i'll give cleveland some credit on manziel. they were linked to him at 4 by a lot of people and Jerry really sounded like he might want him. the browns were smart, though, and waited before striking. at leat they played the draft game right(ish), even if you don't think the guy is good, they didn't sacrifice much to get him and they fleeced the bills.

who say his pro day and workouts... Mike Mayock said he was the first QB he'd ever seen who was that good on tape who did not back it up in the workouts... That like never happens...

and it was the throws he missed in the workout but also the fact that he was smaller...lighter..and not as strong as they had thought prior to actually measuring those things... again if the measurables were down..which isn't uncommon...the fact that Teddy is a pocket passer and not a runner or scrambler like Manziel had people concerned...

but again...still a first round pick...and in the best situation of all the QBs who will go in this draft...

All 3 of those guys are bigger than Teddy.... Locker has much more upside as a runner...... I'm sure at least Gabbert and Ponder would have been graded with higher arm strength....

the only area where Teddy would have ranked above all of them coming out was that he was a much better College QB....and he'd rank above all of them in mental QB acumen....

but to say that there are no measurable where those guys would be ahead of Teddy at the same stage is just simply not true...

If Teddy had not performed poorly at his pro day and had he measured closer to his listed height and weight..he would have been drafted higher....

but just like I told you two weeks ago, he would be a 1st round pick...end up in a better situation...and will likely start the season as a starter...

this all worked out exactly how it should have..

maybe you want to dismiss Teddy's pro day performance and claim some racial conspiracy but that is simply not what happened..

he didn't perform well at pro day and it cost him...but he still won.

I remember white people saying they'd only take pro days with a grain

Is Manziel even faster than Vick now? Is he faster than RGIII with a bum knee? I don't think he is and guys catch them from behind.

Oh, and they did an "out of pocket" passing % because everybody slobbers of Manziel's outside the pocket passing ability. However, the stats show that Teddy's % outside the pocket was actually higher. *shrug*

A&M seriously tied to say this guy was over 6 feet tall. Combine height of 5'11" had to be with him Dhalsim'ing the shit out of his spine.

They look at his scramble ability when, in reality, he didn't HAVE to scramble much if he were fundamentally sound or a taller QB. That line was fantastic. He ran around to give his weird ass space to release the ball. Mike Vick ran a 4.25. RGIII ran a 4.4. "Next-level athelete" Manziel ran a 4.68. Even if his "next-level"-ness is purely based on skin color, I don't remember this much bullshit hyperbole over Locker or Luck, who are both measurably better athletes.

He tries running away from the pocket in Cleveland with his mediocre foot speed, he's going to get pasted. Which will be good for the rest of us that are already tired of the Legend of Johnny Football. RIP.

the Vikes starting QB ...maybe not as soon into camp as Russell Wilson, but close to it..

and it's going to be primarily because of Teddy's football acumen and ability to pick up on the offense quickly and run it successfully.

so now I'm going to take this a step further and say that not only will Teddy start (barring injury) from week 1...but he's going to lead the Vikes on a run to the playoffs...

Go look at their preseason stats. There's no reason to put Matt on the bench. You act like Teddy looked like Johnny Football.

Is Teddy still a second round pick?
Is Teddy still Willie Beamen?
Are Teddy's hands too small for a quarterback?
Are Teddy's knees too short to play quarterback?
Has Matt Statpadford looked as good as Teddy?

what the browns are doing with Manziel used to be the rule, rather than the exception. The Packers did it with Rodgers too.

Jets fans were very excited about Chad taking over, and when Vinny was struggling, there were definitely calls to bring him in and see what he could do.

The point is that Chad Pennington was able to sit and

Those are the facts.

but either way...

like I said from jump..

he'd be the best rookie QB this year...

and easily the best QB in this draft moving forward..

anyone who ranked Manziel over Teddy was either an idiot..or doing it for non-football reasons..ie hype..

the Vikings got a solid QB..

They say they've lost patience with Teddy. They should lose patience with that offensive line that is ass.

From the few games I've been able to catch on the East Coast, dude is indecisive as hell back there. On top of that you have the "Bridgewater is a solid/good QB in the shotgun, but Peterson is a great/legendary RB when the QB is under center" dynamic that doesn't bode well for the Vikings offense.
