Because competing in the Olympics is a really big deal and if you are one of the best in the world at anything you should do it.

I'm assuming being scared of being made fun of by people who may think you are gay is the reason you have to wonder if you'd do it?

If you don't actually like it you should not do it.

If you don't like it because you think it's feminine then that's not a great reason though.

I think figure skating is hella feminine and I would not do it, even if I was good at it. I wouldn't be comfortable at all.

You're basically don't want to look feminine and therefore won't do something you enjoy and are good at (remember we established those are true)

Do what the fuck you enjoy without hurting someone, fuck a perception.

But we didn't establish that, cause this is what you said:

"If you don't like it because you think it's feminine then that's not a great reason though."

If I dislike like it because it's feminine, I probably don't enjoy it.

And I never said I wouldn't do it based on anyone else's opinion...I said I...myself think it's feminine. Which is why I would not do it, even if I had the potential to go to the Olympics.

>Do what the fuck you enjoy without hurting someone, fuck a
>perception.

What perception. I'm talking about my own opinion of figure skating.

a lot of the rinks where i work nhl practices have a big figure skating presence. it's not for me (i suck on hockey skates, let alone flying through the air and shit) but if it were, fuck yeah i would do it. the speed, grace and control of it is really incredible. plus you get to hang around cute girls with amazing asses and thighs all day. IMO a "no" is the suspect answer, not a "yes."

But that could certainly drive you away from the sport at some point. Of course in that situation the answer is yes you decided to figure skate and eventually stop like all competitive figure skaters do eventually.

its a lot of hours that go into it and an isolated life

You get to do all the dumb post olympics figure skating tours, Disney on Ice, whatever you want to do.

Come back every 4 years and do analysis when your career ends.

You mentioned being Olympic level, not just good.

breaking down the individual elements of it, lots of people like running and jumping, lots of people like ice skating, etc.

i admit some of the culture around it seems fanatical but look me in the eye and tell me some football dad in alabama or hockey mom in alberta isn't just as nuts.

one day and realize "Hey I don't like this at all, but I'm good at it. REALLY good. What should I do?" To get good at figure skating you have to like it enough to spend years of NOT being good at it, but working on it for hours a day until you get to the point that you're good. And that's just good good. Not Olympic level good. To get to Olympic level good you have to be blessed with crazy talent, and STILL spend years of practicing while not being good before you even realize that that talent is there...

or alternatively, he truly believes he's good at things after doing them once and is the general laughingstock of those around him.

the only way you get good at it is by practicing at it A LOT! Its not like you can just go to an ice rink and be able to do jumps and spins. Its not like having a natural baseball swing. Or being naturally fast and great for track. Fuck why am I even here for this stupid shit?
