simply because khan has looked bad in his last couple of fights
and hasn't had a televised fight since.......exactly
i'm not sure how he deserves a shot at floyd at all

maidana is basically a gate keeper fighter who floyd will shut out for 12 rounds
but he kind of fits the mold of some of floyds last few opponents (ortiz,ghost) in that he had a good win over an overrated black fighter
so i guess he "deserves" a chance at floyd, certainly more than khan

at least in Khan's losses - he was still impressive
in bouts, and against Garcia, he was thoroughly
controlling the action for 3 rounds before getting
blitzed.

Maidana was just lost for 12 rounds v. Alexander,
and Floyd (an even better technical fighter than
Alexander) - will put on a clinic without barely
breaking a sweat.

Now, he's obviously got other problems

But his natural ability to box is Hall of Fame caliber

different issues, but same level of missed potential
if you wanted to i guess you could plea cop all of his losses
2 "lucky" knock outs and imo he won the peterson fight
his hand speed and length could give floyd trouble early
just not sure he's done enough lately to leap frog so many dudes for that payday

was certainly propped up my Brooklyn hype

Mayweather is an A++++++ fighter who isn't much of a puncher. No way Khan wins, but his style may make this one of the more interestign Mayweather fights we've seen in a while.

i thought that as soon as broner said he wanted the rematch, better clear that shit by floyd first

for an immediate rematch within 6 months, perhaps
a rematch within 9-12 months as each contract
is crafted differently....

The probable fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Amir Khan is not looking so probable anymore. Due to the backlash of Khan being inactive since last June and going life and death with former champion Julio Diaz, fans have been mounting an internet movement to get WBA champion Marcos Maidana in position to face Mayweather on May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Trainer Jeff Mayweather, the uncle of Floyd, told boxing scribe David Mayo that Khan's name has a lot of negativity associated with it. He feels the boxer is not liked in the United States, and the UK, and doesn't deserve the lucrative opportunity of a Mayweather fight. While Maidana, an all-action fighter, pulled off one of the biggest upsets in 2013, when he scored two knockdowns to decision Floyd Mayweather's close friend, Adrien Broner.

"Originally, they were thinking Khan. But with so much negative feedback, with the blogs and various things -- it seemed like every time you saw Amir Khan's name attached to it, it said he had no chance. I think if they go based on titles, and who brings something to the table, it's Maidana. I don't think that many people want to see Floyd fight Amir Khan," Jeff told Mayo.

Amir Khan doesn't have a title and he hasn't done anything to deserve a shot," Jeff Mayweather said. "People want to see Floyd against the guy who beat Adrien Broner. They want to compare the imitator against the genuine one. Realistically, that's what is, an imitator of the legitmate thing. Khan isn't like Ricky Hatton. Most people don't even like him there."
