"Cotto v. Rodriguez | Crawford v. Klimov (HBO)" Sat Oct-05-13 09:14 PM by Vex_id
bout to pop off after this replay of Wlad/Povetkin.
Important fight for Miguel. If he can look dynamic, perhaps a match-up v. Sergio or Canelo is on the horizon. If he can't dazzle against Rodriguez, it might be time to hang them up.
I want to be optimistic and say I'm impressed w/ the work he and Freddie have been putting in (which I am) - but he's got to commit to the body and sit down on his shots more, and he hasn't been able to do that in recent fights.

that Cotto is less shot than a shot 40yr old who gets knocked down by journeymen?
besides, Serg cant make 154 any more, and a winning that "title" at 160 for Cotto would be even more meaningless than that 154lb trinket he won by beating Yuri Foreman.

hate to sound so negative, but i had to sit through that Klitschko "fight" tonight, so i'm sure yall can understand.
Crawford needs a big fight- something he can get up for- almost as much as Gamboa needs a big fight... so why not make it happen already? fiddy and arum have a pretty good relationship from what i hear.
Cotto looked good, but i still think Canelo lays his ass out. Cotto's aggressive style is tailor made for a cerebral, hard hitting counter puncher like Alvarez. At least there's intrigue now, so make it happen.
Sergio canNOT make 154. don't let Lou Dibella fool u with that bullshit about Serg being a blown up 154 pounder. he was protecting his fighter from moving up to 168 and getting put to sleep by anyone in the top 10. idk if Serg needs money or what, but he is clearly shot and needs to retire.
the best thing Cotto could do right now imo is move back down to 47, where he could have some epic battles with the likes of Broner, Danny Garcia, Kieth "1 time", Guerrero, and maybe even Matthysse (YES i'm still on the Matthysse bandwagon. he whups Garcia in a rematch. look closely in slo-mo at the grazing right hand/thumb that actually made his eye close up. props to him for not making excuses.)

>just rehab? > >any news on his progress or lack thereof
he hasn't let go of his dream not just to walk again - but fight again. Unfortunately, I haven't heard any encouraging news that would signify that this is a realistic dream for Pun, but I'm pulling for him on 1,000 and would never doubt a man w/ his spirit.

without taking much punishment. not that this was a big win for Cotto, i'm just sayin... that was a pretty impressive display of power and precision punching.
problem is, what happens when those power shots start coming back his way? just as hard, if not harder.
