I like the fact that the coaches have enough faith in Wolffe to plug him in the starting lineup (even its only bc of injury). However, I wouldn't put too much faith in him to come in and be the elixir to our chronic poor safety play. Manning will most certainly target and challenge him. I guess the positive to that is that his play can only go up from here? You just don't want it to be the dreaded Winston Justice fiasco. Regardless, it's not like we have any other options otherwise at safety.

wolff, at least, is a better tackler than the other two. and has more speed, so he can recover better after he blows a coverage.

at the safety position. Considering what we have witnessed these past several years, anything close to average would be a significant upgrade. I do like what I see in Wolff so far - physical, wraps up, plays without hesitancy and doesn't make too many costly mental lapses in coverage.

Chung is just a stop gap - at lest I hope. He's a tough, physical safety but a major liability in coverage. Nate Allen, well, we all know the story on him. I was extremely high on him coming out of college. I never thought he'd be this soft though in the NFL. I thought at the least he would excel in coverage. He's been pretty abysmal in both run support and pass coverage. He has made some considerable improvements since game 1 this year though.

I'm going to go easy on Wolff though. A rookie playing quite possibly one of the most difficult positions to play in the NFL right now.

If we stand to put up a fight in this game, we have to score points and avoid 3 and outs. Peyton will slay us.

We cannot cover underneath and we don't have the pass rush up the middle to rush Peyton...gonna be long, long afternoon.

makes my blood boil the most (beyond the atrocious KO coverage on Holliday's return TD) is that we bypassed on a 54-55 yard field goal. Henery was a guy we drafted in the 4th round to replace David Akers. You draft a kick in the 4th freakin' round, I would at least expect him to have the leg to attempt 55 yarders at Mile High Stadium.

Other than that, things going as expected. Score could be better/worse due to WR/TE drops on both sides. Vick is playing the way we need him to play. We just gotta finish drives and score TDs, not field goals.

it's just mind-boggling how weak our defense is. How in the world do they let opposing receivers routinely run wide open in the flat - at the goal line at that???! And it's week after week.

We haven't been able to consistently cover the slot or hybrid TE's since what....the Al Harris days? Denver has the most prolific slot guy in the game in Wes and a big/fast TE in Julian Thomas. As soon as we try to bracket Welker or Thomas, Peyton will have a one on one with either Demaryius or Decker...easy money.

When's the last time the down-line rush was able to get any pressure up the middle? What affects Peyton the most...pressure in his face. His step-up lane has been clear he entire game.

Combine that with the offense not scoring td's early and then continuing to stall out in midfield and a S/T giving up two huge plays....scoreboard.
