Dude was actually one of our better players, strong handle, got to the rim easy, good defender, but wasn't a particularly good shooter. Pretty crazy this kid is able to set up and get his shot off pretty quickly, though this is a highlight video and all the shots were off the dribble. We'll see how he deals with the quicker closeouts in college but I'm happy for the kid and wish him the best of luck.

One time he was dribbling and tapped the ball with the stump of his other arm (it ended right below the elbow). Everyone saw it but felt weird about calling it. It was the 1st week or 2 of school and cats didn't really know each other.
But his boy from way back wasn't holding back. He yelled, "Double MFin' dribble! Man, if there's ever a violation you should never get called for it's a double dribble!"

Plus his full functioning arm was his left side, so he had sort of a Ginobili thing going on. He had more of the other arm than this Hodskins kid (more like a half hand), so he could get a bounce or two off the right if he needed to. We wouldn't normally have him bring the ball up (that was usually me, actually), but if we got it to where he could slash, he's getting to the rack guaranteed. Spot up shooting is his biggest weakness, which makes it crazy to me that this is this Hodskins kids' strength, it's obviously hard to catch and gather cleanly if you got one arm.
Sidenote: how do lefties get away with basically having no off hand? Ginobili, Harden... if I was born with only one fully functional arm, I definitely want it to be the left.
