but I think Guerrero gives him a tough fight. I think today Thurman loses to every top guy except for Alexander, Malignaggi and Berto. Maybe even Guerrero. I think that's a toss-up.
He just doesn't seem polished enough to take that leap, in my opinion. I feel like if he's in with a guy that knows who he is as a fighter and can make adjustments even at a decent clip, Thurman would be outclassed, exposed and probably KO'd cause he was getting hit too flush by this dude he fought last night.

even when the announcers were hypin shit up, i watched it in slow mo and Keith was just gettin grazed most times.
that's another big time quality he showed last night- the ability to... not absorb the full impact of punches. if u got a DVR watch some of those exchanges in slow motion. Thurman boxed beautifully last night!

he passed every test of a potential champion:
ability to take punches (from a power puncher)
ability to make adjustments on the fly and out-think a smart opponent.
beautiful, Pacquiao-esque footwork
the stamina to punch with power in the championship rounds.
what i think ur doing is underestimating his opponent. Chavez can fucking fight. i think he runs thru the bottom half of the Ring Mag top 10 welterweights, and troubles some of the top half. i could easily see him kicking Guerrero's ass. Kell Brook would get it too, tho idk how the hell he's in any top 5.
i guess we won't know how big this win is for Thurman until we see Chavez against some of these other guys, but i.m.o. One Time is among the elite WWs right now. my top 10:
1. Floyd
2. Pac (i know he got KOd but i'd still pick him to beat JMM 7.5 times outta 10)
3. JMM
4. KIETH
6. Bradley/Provodnikov
7. Matthysse (yup. soon as he KOs Garcia and moves up he'll be right here, if not higher).

he could challenge a couple of guys that you don't have on your personal list but who are ranked pretty high like Devon Alexaneder and Kell Brook..... High reward low risk...plus obtain some hardware....then by that time ...because of his age...he basically hold all the cards in the division.... The vets..if they still got something left and want to take the risk..they got to fukk with Thurman....the younger guys....would have to fukk with him to unify the belts in the division..... plus that gives him leverage in a future pay per view vs. Bronner...
Thurman holds the cards right now for the future of that division.
Both guys were playing chess. I liked Chavez--calm, tactical, well-schooled. Thurman is a bit more hectic but he's a smarter fighter than he seems to get credit for, and he was just the more dynamic guy. Those 2-3 big exchanges they had each round were just great stuff, even when both guys were evading each other's shots. It felt like someone was going to get through eventually. Didn't expect it to be a body shot though...good on Thurman, nice win.

he took the L i think he could give a lot of the 140-147 trouble based off those first 4 rounds that was the first time i think i've ever seen Thurman look scared like he knew he couldn't just out physical someone in the ring speaking of thurman, he showed me he is more than just an athlete in the ring. didn't know he had that cerebral aspect to his game. the 2nd half adjustment he made was brillant. if he tightens up his defense i think he could dominate. i think he has a higher ceiling than broner for instance, but we'll see
as far as berto. meh tons of heart but his career is over. he was in trouble multiple times BEFORE he hurt his shoulder. i've seen karass fight before and i don't remember him having the kind of power it seemed he had last night. i think berto's chin is just done at this point. he looked like jermaine taylor in there smh

he's definitely done. I'm not sure why he couldn't get over the hurdle in his career. I still think one of his biggest mistakes was staying at WW instead of dropping down to JWW. I feel that's where he should have been all along.

His uppercut was his only power punch and even that wasn't that big at WW.
He's like a more physically gifted Paulie but without any elite boxing skills
