"what yall think about colleges exnaying a players accomplishments"

its currently happening with A Hern with the Pats and U of Fl where they are totally disassocciating his name from their record books, removing his brick etc...

but weve seen it before w JJ (OJ) and some other athletes who were involved with taboo societal issues NON related to their sport

I see this as diffrent then strikeing out a persons records for steroid use cuz that has a direct impact on the game itself

I even get it w Reggie Bush since his infractions occured while playing

but how do you take an athletes accomplishments away for something they did that didnt have anything to do with the activity in which they were recognized in?

I get that the school is trying to physchologically remove any connection between it and the player but common whould J Pa 40 year career mysteriously vanish from PSU too? lol

Florida is keeping all of Hernandez's stats in their records. removing his likeness from around campus is an easy, smart move.

It doesn't look good for him, obviously, but for UF to presume his guilt like this seems a bit hasty, no?

just upholding their image (i know that's a little laughable with the U, but you know). it's easier to make amends with him if he's found innocent than to explain to everyone why you defended him when he's found guilty.

Hernandez was a MAJOR piece of the FL teams.

I think it's bs. Just like wiping out Joe Pa's wins. It happened. Deal with it.

so on principle they gove vacate them wins and give back the money for all the Hernandez Jerseys they sold too?

if you are going to be "principled" don't be hypocritical

the University benefited of him and acknowledged his contribution prior to any of this happening

how about the university makeing a financial contribution to the victims family or a some other impactful action not just an empty token gesture of no significance?

furthutmore anyone in their right, sane mind knows Aarons actions were individual and happened long after he was gone from the program

I dont see how u can even relate his actions to the University

so unless they are feeling guilty about something we dont know that occured while he was there (other than the little bs he got into as a student that are makeing a mountain out of a mole hill about) they should do something sincere and KIM

There's no way there gonna get rid of the wins.

Either he was an All-American player or he wasn't. Serial killer or not, he balled on the field. Take it or leave it.

All it was was a recognition of his All American season, that they are still benefiting from. If that season doesnt count anymore I see the point, but we know thats not gonna happen. Like I said, its an empty gesture to seem like they are doing something moral and right.

Why bring attention to it at all?

that they gave him/that he earned by his performance as a football player that mutually benefited both of them because of something he did AFTER he was no longer capable of benefitting them

what they gave him was performance related

they removed it for a non performance issue
