"Mosley Back in the Mix for a Title Shot, Schaefer Says"

***this is just fkn sad. schaefer ain't any better than arum by promoting this shit. man boxer's just can't help themselves or keep themselves from ruining their legacies. what else are they gonna do i suppose?

Mosley Back in the Mix for a Title Shot, Schaefer Says

by David P. Greisman

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer hadn’t yet seen Shane Mosley’s decision win over Pablo Cesar Cano — after all, he had been in Atlantic City for Lucas Matthysse’s knockout of Lamont Peterson and had just finished presiding over the post-fight press conference when a pair of reporters asked him about Mosley-Cano.

While Schaefer said he hadn’t been briefed yet on the bout, but he spoke highly of what the victory meant for Mosley, who is now 41 and nearing ever closer to 42, and who had not won a fight since his January 2009 win over Antonio Margarito.

“This was a real test for Shane. Pablo Cesar Cano is a young, strong guy who gave Paulie Malignaggi all he could handle, and for Shane to go to Mexico and win is the kind of statement I was looking for, for Shane,” Schaefer said. “I think that will put Shane back into the mix. And I think this means that Shane Mosley is back, and I think Shane Mosley deserves another world title shot.

“I’m going to have to sit down with him and the team and see who is going to be available and what we can do,” Schaefer said. “But there’s certainly some good names out there, and I would say about 80 percent of the fighters that matter in the ’40, ’47 and ’54 — maybe 90 percent — are promoted by Golden Boy anyway, so it’s going to be easy to get Shane a big fight. That’s a big statement for Shane.”

gotta give arum props since the manny/floyd talks completely fell thru he hasn't really been trolling GBP any more
schaefer still on that petty shit 24/7. even called lucas "the new manny" after the PEDerson fight
dude needs to worry bout showtimes boxing budget
HBO/Top Rank had 3 FOTY candidates in a row to begin the year and the bradley fight had 100K+ more viewers than canelo v. trout
stop throwing shots every time there's a mic in your fat face and focus on building the rep of showtime boxing, damn

I am uninterested in watching him fight for a title again unless he "EARNED" it..

Meaning...he turned back the clock somehow and looked good doing it

Meaning...he actually mashed on a soild A-, B level contender

Meaning he found a jab and got his stamina back...

Dunno if that's happening anytime soon and it pains me to see him going the way of the "gatekeep"...

His speech is starting to sound real fucked up too...

Does he even need the money?

"Inspectah Deck, he's like...he's like that dude thatta sit back and watch you play yourself and all that right? And see you sit there and know you lyin; and he'll take you to court after that, cuz he the Inspectah."

I hate it when a fighter gets to the point where he's clearly trading long term health for short term paydays. Shane needs to find a way out, not keep looking for one last run to win all his money back.

Cano's just alright. Why in the fuck was HE fighintg for the vacant belt?

Shane's clearly got brain damage at this point, now hes going to keep fighting.
And his chick is even badder than Floyd's. Id be pining to retire to her
