>Melo's FG% for the season was 43%...he's not and has never >been an efficient scorer and he needs a high volume of shots >to get his points, some nights his points come rather easily >(tonight being a rare case 15-29...but just barely) and others >they don't which is why he tends to force the action which is >why he's a streaky scorer...
Nah, it was 45%. You prove my "you hate Melo" stance every time you alter his numbers and make them a little worse, thinking nobody will notice. JR Smith is streaky. Jamal Crawford is streaky. Jason Terry, Klay Thompson....cats like that. FOH at trying to call one of the very best scorers in basketball, "streaky". Is Kobe streaky? Russ? Curry? Nah.
>>And then proceeding to name a bunch of other things that >>really can't be measured, so you can claim you're right...ie >>"lacks intangibles". > >Yeah like leadership? Can't really qualify it but we know it >when we see it and I just don't see that being an attribute of >Melo's like at all Yeah, like "leadership". Of course YOU don't see it when it comes to Melo. I'm shocked.
>>Inconsistent rebounder? Huh? He's an above average >rebounder >>for a SF. Period. > >Nah he averaged 6.2rpg this season, that's not enough for >someone w/his size and strength. Westbrook and Rondo average >nearly 5rpg at the point guard position. He's not (over)paid >to be "average," leave that to Shump or Felton. Rebounding or >the lack thereof has always been one of the knocks against him >going back to his days in Denver...
He averaged 6.9 rebounds this year. Let the record show, this is the THIRD stat you've LIED about in this little exchange. Nope, I'm not writing these off as mistakes. You're lying, and hoping I won't notice, but I pay too close of attention for that to work. Nice try though.
There were 8 SF's who averaged more. That makes him a, like I said earlier, above average rebounder for his position. I didnt say average, I said above average. LOL at "someone with his size and strength". This is the NBA. He's the same size as most of the other SFs out there. Rebounding has never been a knock against, you just made that up again.
>>"Unwilling passer"....nope. He shoots a lot because he >>should. He generally makes the right passes. > >FOH - this what I mean, he averaged 2apg yet you making stupid >excuses abt him shooting (and missing) because he has too...if >that were true (although its not), at least take better, >smarter shots, something he's never done in his career. He >isn't labeled a "ball stopper" for nothing...he didn't even >have a total of *10* assists in this series or against Boston, >yet he makes the right passes? > >Do better, dude, seriously...
You watch the games right? That's a hard squad to get assists on, unless the 3s are falling. The 3s were not falling these playoffs. The bigs were hurt and terrible, so you're not getting any by feeding the post. When the ball movement is there and the 3s are falling, a lot of times the guy who draws the defensive attention gets the "hockey assist", where they make the pass that leads to the assist. That's how it works....the guy drawing the defensive attention doesn't usually make the pass for the 3, it takes 2 to get the more open shot.
But anyway, back to the numbers.....even with Melo's career low assists this season, he ranked 12th in assists per game for SF's which isn't terrible. It's average. Don't be that guy who names a few SF's who play point forward roles and get a lot of assists and act like that's the norm.
