"Sayonara, JR Smith; 2012 - 2013 Sixth Man of the Year winner."

Congrats, I hope for his sake he will get paid accordingly, but it hurts to know the Knicks won't be able for afford him next year.

link: http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2013/4/22/4252134/jr-smith-knicks-sixth-man-of-year-nba-awards-2013

Swipe:

J.R. Smith will reportedly be named the Sixth Man of the Year after averaging a career-high 18.1 points for the Knicks this season.

New York Knicks shooting guard J.R. Smith will be named the NBA's 2013 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, according to Howard Beck of The New York Times. Smith had the best year of his career in helping the Knicks to a 54-28 record and a No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Smith led the league in scoring off the bench, posting a career-high 18.1 points per game as the second scoring option behind Carmelo Anthony. Smith also posted a career-high in rebounding, averaging 5.3 on the year.

Smith was especially good the last few months of the season, averaging 22.1 points on 45.5 percent shooting and 35.9 percent from three over March and April. Smith shot 42.2 percent overall on the year and 35.6 percent from three-point land.

Smith had 15 points and five rebounds in 32 minutes in the Knicks' 85-78 Game 1 victory over the Boston Celtics on Saturday afternoon.

he still a knucklehead at the end of the day lol.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

he'll want to stay because of both Woodson and Carmelo, but ultimately, this is a capitalist country and as an athlete, you have to maximize your dollars to the fullest. I would be upset, but I wouldn't be too mad if he left, especially seeing how underpaid he is right now.

Harem with a capital H, funny. I don't know about the Knicks financial situation cent for cent, but I think Brookyn is screwed with the high priced signings they did for their starters in the beginning of the season similiar to how the Knicks are limited because of the Carmelo/Stoudamire/Chandler contracts. I know this will derail the thread, but I'm wondering if they will be able to keep Reggie Evans when he becomes a free agent. They got him through a trade, correct? I hate to derail this thread, but someone break that Brooklyn/Reggie Evans situation for me.

Damn, and Humphries comes off the books by the time Evans is up for a new contract according to that link. I see Evans being a problem for the Knicks in years to come, assuming he is healthy.

Wow, what a miserable situation that would be. Isn't Ben Gordon still on the Bobcats in the sixth man role JR would operate on that team though? If he moves, I'm just hoping he doesn't go to either the Heat or the Celtics at this point. I'm 200% certain he's not going to the Heat, but I wonder if the Celts will blow up the team and try and snag him. I guess Jason Terry being there will probably stop that from happening though.

which quote JR as saying he wishes he could retire as a Knicks and such. If dude actually re-signs with the Knicks, I will be the first to buy a JR Smith jersey, and I am not the biggest fan of these Knicks players as individuals at the moment. He would be walking away from some tremendous cash if he doesn't seriously test the free agent market. I gotta think that his agent will whisper in his ear once the season is over to let him know what is up.

as a throw in...

and Scott Skiles dumb ass cut him cause he didn't like him

Had we kept him and worked him into the damn O with Ben Gordon and Heinrich and Deng, we could have done some damage...

We STILL don't have a 2 and luckily Jimmy Butler has come around.

fuck scott skiles

in a funny twist, JR smith came to ny b.c of D'antoni..he thought the offensive freedom would get him a good deal.

contract with the intent of staying with the Knicks, but who knows now

With this year out of the way we have his early bird rights
Most we can offer him with that is something like 2 years 10.5 mil

There is also a *wink* with JR, but I don't know if it is attributable to his 2.8 mil he took this year or maybe staying with us next year for that 10 mil.

NY signed his brother to a 2 year guaranteed contract (maybe not all of it guaranteed but he def got more than he deserved). We all know they had no intentions of keeping that dude on the final roster. So, is that the trade off for him taking 2.8 mil or negotiations going forward ?

Also, Woodson

Knicks yo
Cowboys yo

to sign his brother chris too. even though he got injured.
Like he was putting his brother's career over his own.
maybe they sign his brother again. and draft russ for good measure.
but good for him. i cant be mad no matter where he plays next year.
makes china stop seems like eons ago.

San antonio?
LAC?

you even got non-contending teams with better 2nd options.

you'd be a better poster if you stayed consistent btw.
