but credit to Fury for taking advantage of laissez-faire officiating. I
thought Steve boxed well but ultimately was tired out from the fast
action and Fury laying his body on him in clinches.

Wlad will destroy Fury - but he might have a shot vs. Vitali.

It was way closer than they had it. In any case, Trout fought well and it was a good fight, the right man won and we luckily don't have to see a rematch. Trout really has nothing to be ashamed of. I'll be looking forward to watching both fighters next fights.

And Trout's wife is bad.

I had it 115-111 for Canelo. Can't see how that was a robbery.

Thought it was a tight fight, but ultimately the cleaner, more effective
aggression carried Canelo to me. I don't think people scored those
straight right-hands to the sternum/chest enough, which were landing
at a high clip (probably Canelo's best punch in the fight).

That said, Trout certainly won a fair amount of rounds, but ultimately
Canelo landed the most effective shots, and his defense was much
slicker and elusive than I was anticipating.

I didn't like the open scoring format, and think Texas really may
be the worst judicial jurisdiction. The 118-109 scorecard was bad.

I definitely saw improvement, nuance. But I still saw
some weaknesses he has yet to address. Namely, periods
of inactivity where he waits too long and lets his opponent
get off first, scoring cheaply on him. But his defense and
head-movement has really improved.

I still love the Mayweather match-up because Canelo is
an economical puncher, doesn't waste shots, and calculates
his punches. Mayweather likes to capitalize off sloppy
assaults, but Canelo is patient and every punch is purposeful.

One thing I noticed again tonight is that Canelo instinctually
throws a hard punch (mostly a straight right hand) every single
time he's hit w/ a punch. Mayweather will likely anticipate/study that -
and adjust mid-fight to capitalize - but not without a Canelo
cannon coming back at him.

Really hope that fight happens after Floyd outclasses Ghost.

I'm in mexico and everyone thought trout won,smh
Trout Controlled the pace , ring generalship , and I'm assuming landed more punches
Broadcast was in Spanish so I didn't get the broadcaster bias or punchstat numbers
Trout controlled the fight with his jab IMO. Canelo landed harder but just didn't landed enough. And he clearly lost the "championship round s" especially the 12th.
Everyone was quiet and salty like canelo lost but I kept telling them GBP wasnt bout to let him catch a L in a close fight
Shits so predictable and corny at this point

Deportes didn't show that. Might explain why canelo was coasting like shit late. saw a yahoo article that said canelo dominated but most boxing forums have cats saying trout won but no one was surprised by the cards given the climate of boxing now days
Flip side is I think its more likely we get that Floyd matchup in sept. Now

I actually thought this fight was similar to Rigondeaux/Donaire, except
Trout made a better showing for himself than Donaire did v. Rigondeaux.

All of the memorable shots in the aforementioned bout were landed by
Rigondeaux (minus the knockdown Donaire right hand).

Alike, Canelo landed all of the most effective shots - and those shots
did real damage. Trout was busy, but he didn't get enough substantive
work done. I don't see how you can score a few glancing jabs that
don't land clean as carrying rounds versus more economical power shots
that land flush. Close fight, but clear win for Canelo to me.

Open scoring really deflated the fight, and I thought it was unfortunate
because as you noted, Canelo knew he could cruise in the final championship
rounds (whereas if he didn't know the score he would've had to engage
far more).

Canelo is resourceful with his punches and I give credit for that but he didn't get off enough IMO. Ppl keep talking about the damage he did but then ignore the fact trout had him on his bike several times and had him pinned on the ropes looking spent several times. there was a point where we thought canelo might get dropped while he was leaning on the ropes getting popped but trout didn't have the power to wrap it up. He looked exhausted and/or dazed. Ppl that are saying canelo won are acting as if the shit was one sided when that's not the case.
I was mostly impressed with canelos head movement in the early rounds but other than that don't think his offensive performance was anything to write home about.

Ppl keep talking about
>the damage he did but then ignore the fact trout had him on

But when Trout had Canelo on the ropes he wasn't scoring w/ much
effectiveness at all. Canelo was slipping most of his work and his
surprisingly deft head-movement had Trout catching a lot of air.

there was a point where we thought canelo
>might get dropped while he was leaning on the ropes getting
>popped but trout didn't have the power to wrap it up.

Never saw Canelo in any trouble at all. Despite the knockdown (where
Trout was badly rocked) - I saw him wobble 2-3 other times in the fight,
and his face showed the wear & tear of the fight. Canelo's face was basically
unscathed at the end of the night and that's largely because when Trout
would land (w/ mostly his jab) - Canelo would be always moving away from the
punch, whereas Trout was moving into Canelo's shots.

He
>looked exhausted and/or dazed. Ppl that are saying canelo won
>are acting as if the shit was one sided when that's not the
>case.

I think it was a clear win - but Trout made a good account of himself
and certainly won a fair amount of rounds.

>I was mostly impressed with canelos head movement in the early
>rounds but other than that don't think his offensive
>performance was anything to write home about.

I was impressed, but he still must continue to improve if he's
to challenge Mayweather.

If u can't acknowledge canelo was on his bike or getting caught on the ropes we ain't gonna really agree on this one.
IMA rewatch this in english when I can cause there seems to be a clear divide on who ppl thought won

he wasn't. And yes, having a fairly unscathed face at the end of the
fight is evidence of tight defense. You didn't see Rigondeaux busted
up at all against Donaire, but Donaire's face told a story.

I noticed he was taking his foot off the gas too much, and perhaps
had some stamina issues, but he was never hurt - and I just didn't
see him getting caught w/ much at all. The rounds Trout won
were more because of Canelo's inactivity than because of Trout's
effective punching.

Canelo and it's not even close. Yes, he allowed himself to get outworked for the majority of the fight but he clearly landed the more clean effective punches. Like most people, I slept on his defense which was amazing to watch. Even in his frequent moments of inactivity, he was not getting hit consistently which was very telling. Canelo was completely confident, almost arrogant, and in full control for the majority of the fight. He outboxed Trout. His jab landed at a higher percentage than Trout's and was definitely the stronger of the two. Maybe he is just better.

As soon as canelo's corner heard the score after the 4th they knew that there was no way they were losing a decision (even though everyone knew that from the get go). Y would canelo be more active when he can just sit back and potshot and win rounds.
