"Weekend Soccer 4/20-21: No horse-punching allowed"

One week closer to the end of times for some of the EPL clubs…and the picture is still quite muddled, though it seems like Villa might be able to pull off the escape, and deservedly so IMHO. Most of England hoping Stoke does not get to enjoy the same fate, and considering their recent form, that would not be a shocking outcome to say the least. Di Canio has his first home game since taking over, something tells me he’ll get a good reception after last week’s theatrics. ManCity go to Spurs to try to pull back to within 10 pts of the title (yawn), and there’s another London derby with Fulham-Arsenal which could be entertaining but will likely end 0-0.

Elsewhere, Valencia take on Malaga to try to stay in the fight for the 4th spot. Milan will try to grab points at Juve to catch up with Napoli. And PSG hope to mitigate the ignominy of their midweek Cup elimination at the hands of mighty Evian by adding to their points tally against Nice, a team that has proven to be a thorn in their side in the past. Between that and the rumors about Nasri coming on this summer (talk about a train-wreck move) and Ibra leaving, it's been an eventful week for the club.

------------------------------
For the record, my teams:
MLB: Mets / Soccer: PSG
NCAA BB: Arizona / NCAA FB: Michigan
NBA: Spurs / NFL: Jets

from the de gea article on the guardian:

It has been a good few weeks in this regard for De Gea, who has remained the calm centre of this oddly confusing champion-elect United team, a team shot through with players who seem still to be finding their best role. Danny Welbeck can look brilliant at times, a player with every conceivable attribute. But what position does he play? Galloping attack-spoiler? False wing-back? Goal-curious run-fast man? What abut Phil Jones: man-to-man shove-hustler, striding central run-hulk? Even Wayne Rooney seems to be coalescing into a kind of footballing grated cheese, to be sprinkled over anything you fancy – attacking midfield, roving No9 – in the vague hope it might somehow taste a little better.

it was too good not to share.

ugly game, passes were just off, but got the W with a great play by alexis as a sub. he's really starting to come back into great form.

also, is abidal our best CB already after only 2 games back? i think so. discuss. probably deserves the start against bayern.

And second of all, BITING?

I really, really fear, though, for Villa's Baker/Bennett/Delph left side of ineptitude in this matchup. I'm pulling for Villa to survive in the face of that.

Baker inept? He's been a revelation since he took Clark's place in the heart of defense (stupid foul on Suarez aside).

From what I've seen of them, and I've made a point of watching every Villa game available since mid February, the two (Bennett and Baker) have moments of brilliance but then moments where they are just ball-watching children who let players go totally unchallenged.

Baker could have stepped out a little more quickly, but that's Bennett's man.

I'm 101% convinced that wasn't a joke, dude probably patted himself on the back for remembering how to pronounce it from HS spanish. But he's the one taking the double L on this one
Although tbh that is a pretty weird-ass name for a british team to have, esp. one from effing Birmingham

Square the shoulders, open up his right shoulder, and then time it perfectly onto his paces. The dude is brilliant.
